My mum had a longer than expected stay in hospital which resulted in my dad having to go into respite for a few weeks, not an easy decision and obviously we were all concerned about putting dad into residential care. Westley Court from the minute we arrived put our minds at ease, the place is lovely,
spacious, clean and in beautiful grounds and wonderful views. The staff were all friendly and took their time to get to know dad and understand his personality as well as his medical needs- nothing was too much trouble.
You could visit anytime, and as I travelled for work would often turn up at different times of the day/night and my dad was always happy, clean and content.
I would not hesitate in recommending Westley Court. All I can say is thank you to the wonderful staff for taking care of dad so well and treating him with respect, patience and dignity during his time there.

After a traumatic time for the family during Covid 2020 dad was admitted to Westley Court from hospital. Immediately we felt that a weight had been lifted from us as dad was made to feel very welcome. The care dad is receiving has been exemplary although his behaviour can be challenging at times. All
of the staff treat dad with dignity and respect and look past this awful dementia and see dad for the person he once was. They take time to talk to him and listen to his many stories and reassure him when needed. Dad is always clean and tidy and the cook offers lovely food which dad really enjoys. It’s been challenging for everyone due to the lack of visiting over the last couple of years, but communication over recent months has been really good due to the employment of a dedicated activities person who regularly does FaceTime calls with me as I live over a hundred miles away. Thank you to all the staff for becoming my dad's new family, we appreciate everything you all do.
Reply from Sarah Webb, Manager at Westley CourtThank you for your positive feedback, I will pass on your comments to all staff members, especially activities.

I have been shopping with my coordinator for a new laptop and phone and like taking part in the activity groups here. I have also had support for shopping online. Enjoyed canal trips. I like walking around the grounds and taking photographs.

Following the relaxation of the Covid restrictions and after what must have seemed like an eternity for residents, Westley Court reintroduced their ‘fine dining’ days. It was so lovely to see my mother and another resident friend enjoying this experience again. They were given their choice of food for
a three-course meal which was served in one of the lounges at a table laid with fresh pink linen, flowers and lotus folded napkins. The event was declared a resounding success with lovely food cooked to perfection – and served by a waiter in black tie! My father, who is also a resident but not well enough to take part, hopes to join in next time. Thanks to all concerned. To see my relatives treated with such dignity and respect is reassuring and a huge comfort in difficult and emotional times. I know they are looking forward to the planned Platinum Jubilee celebrations coming up later in the year.
Reply from Sarah Webb, Manager at Westley CourtIt has been lovely to see the positive impact of reintroducing the " Fine Dining" at Westley Court. Thank you so much for this review. I will pass it on to the staff who worked hard to make it happen.

We have just had a fine dining experience with our father. He had a meal and dessert of his choice which we had the pleasure of enjoying with him.
How lovely it was to join him for a special meal with a private table with flowers and waitress service. The home made it a thoroughly enjoyable experience
for all of us.
What a fantastic idea it is to allow us to share precious time with our loved one who has dementia.
Thanking everyone for the effort they put in to make it special.
Reply from Sarah Webb, Manager at Westley CourtThank you so much for your lovely review; so glad you enjoyed the experience. I will share this with all of the staff, particularly, the kitchen and activity, who worked hard to make this happen.

Nearly four months ago my 85-year-old mother was discharged from hospital for end of life care at Westley Court. She was in a dreadful condition and we were warned that she might die during the transfer.
She has received unfailingly professional and compassionate care from the fabulous team there.
Consequently, when dad had a heart attack the obvious place for him to recuperate was Westley Court, where Mom, Dad and the rest of the family have received such tremendous support and care.
My mother has improved so much that, two days ago, the team facilitated a small gathering of her family to celebrate her 86th birthday.
As a family, we cannot express how grateful we are.
Reply from Sue Houldey, Operations Director at Westley CourtThank you so much for taking the time to write a review for Westley Court. The home has an excellent reputation and is known as a provider of excellent end of life care and support. We are so pleased to have been able to support both your Mum and Dad at the home, which I am sure will have been a great comfort to them both. I will pass on your thanks to the staff team at the home.

My mum was put under the amazing care of Westley Court at the end of September 2021. It was her birthday two days later and the team made a lovely effort in making Mum feel welcome and made her a cake. The five weeks that Mum was at Westley Court was very stressful for us as a family but the team were
absolutely amazing. They were supportive and compassionate. We can't thank them enough for the care they give Mum.
Reply from Sue Houldey, Operations Director at Westley CourtThank you so much for taking the time to review the care provided to your mum by Westley Court staff. We do everything we can to try and ensure that each stay at the home, whether for a short while or long term, makes the resident and their families feel well cared for and supported. It was our pleasure to organise the birthday celebrations which were enjoyed by everyone at the home.

Westley Court was able to admit our elderly father for respite care at very short notice following a deterioration in his health. He had previously been admitted to the home with my late mother for a short respite stay. The majority of the staff remembered Mum which Dad has found very comforting. The
staff were very welcoming to Dad and, without exception, are kind, caring and patient with an ability to see Dad as an individual with his own specific needs. Dad is settled and happy at Westley Court and our family are very grateful for this as myself and my two siblings do not live locally. Thank you to the Manager, Deputy Manager and all the staff for their care of Dad.

We had a wonderful, accomodating show round/visit. Westley Court catered to Dad's needs and the family's from the beginning, offering excellent advice and alternative for our initial difficulties. Dad settled very quickly, due to staff getting to know him quickly. All administration and registering
with GP was great and less than one week in, he is very happy, taken part in activities already and been out for a walk. Thank you very much.

The staff at Westley Court have done an amazing job during covid restrictions. When they were able to, they arranged outdoor visits. The staff are always friendly and have done their best to keep the activities going as best they can with all of the restrictions. It is good when they share what they
have been doing on facebook, especially when we can't visit due to lockdown.
Reply from Sue Houldey, Operations Director at Westley CourtThank you for your kind words, the whole staff team have worked together to maintain the positive and caring environment within the home, in what has sometimes been the most challenging of circumstances. I will ask the team to continue sharing information on Facebook as many families find this helpful and reassuring.

What a great place! From the moment I first phoned to enquire about a place for my husband (now needing palliative care), the reassurance on every point from the Deputy Manager was outstanding!
His transfer from his temporary previous placement was seamless with his room made so welcoming with photos
and personal items already in place, and a carer being there to do anything needed.
My husband has settled into his new permanent home so quickly. The care and nursing staff are exceptional and this reflects the lead given by the lovely Manager, for whom nothing is too much trouble!
His quality of life has shown an amazing improvement and this is due to the wonderful care, coupled with a beautiful room and the lovely relationship he has already built during his first two weeks here!
An amazing place where I know my dear husband will be kept safe and happy!
Bless you all.

My wife has been a resident for 18 months.
I find the home always welcoming to me.
My wife is disabled and not able to walk or stand.
She is well cared for, clean and tidily dressed.
She now suffers some dementia, the staff seem to be able to cope with this on odd days when she is somewhat difficult.
I
am grateful that she accepts the home well, even though she did live a very active life.

A warm, friendly and calm atmosphere awaits you at Westley Court. EVERY staff member is extremely professional, approachable and particularly ‘Person Centred'. Staff readily give detailed daily updates on my father’s progress. His considerable health and care needs are wholly met in a dignified and
compassionate way, befitting my father as a proud man. On an emergency admission to hospital, the Nurses’ professionalism and empathy to both my father and us went above and beyond duty. Additionally, the Emergency Department congratulated Westley Court on the thorough and detailed notes which accompanied him to the hospital. The ‘Open Door’ policy of the Manager is exactly that. You are encouraged to ask questions, give your own updates or just offload. There is a clear line of communication which is seamlessly imparted to the whole team. Our father has a good rapport with staff, is content and at ease; as a family, we do not feel sad when we leave as we know he is safe and well cared for.

My father in law moved into this nursing home on 13/11/18. He has been in other Nursing Homes but none of them compares to this one. The staff have been great to deal with and nothing is too much trouble. The accommodation feels like home, it is comfortable and relaxed. I would recommend this nursing
home to anyone looking for something a little bit nicer than the norm.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.265)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.265) out of 10 for Westley Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.340 for Westley Court is calculated as follows: ( (125 Excellents x 5) + (62 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 215 Ratings = 4.34
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Westley Court is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 33 registered maximum number of service users is 6.6, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
