Red Hill

Choosing Red Hill was no random process for my brothers and I, we were very careful about where she went. I turned up unannounced at every suitable home within a 20-mile radius of Worcester. Some I wrote off from the first visit, unsuitable for a variety of reasons, including ease of access to the resident's rooms (this shouldn't be possible), hygiene & staff attitudes. Without paying any regard to cost I narrowed the list down to 4 homes. I didn't tell my brothers that I preferred Red Hill, I let them decide. When we had it to two on quality, I thought Red Hill might be nicer, and after 18 months and about 500+ visits, I still think it's a high-quality facility, with a large core of staff who have stayed in the post through all that time. My mother seems content, and we are all happy with the quality of the staff . They got a tough CQC recently, but given the number of visits I have made with no agenda beyond the care of my mum, I would say I'm a better-informed judge than their snapshot.

My husband has been at Shaw Red Hill since the middle of 2015. At first, it was difficult and he didn't settle at all well which was very upsetting, but soon after he was moved to his present unit, he soon relaxed and accepted his situation and is now relatively happy. The home is always spotlessly clean and the regular staff are always very helpful and caring. His food always looks appetising and well cooked. It is such a relief to know that he is well looked after and content and I am always made welcome by everyone from the domestics and maintenance people through to the management. It feels like a big happy family.

My husband was admitted to Shaw Red Hill Care Home in 2016 with advanced dementia. He was totally dependent on carers for all aspects of personal care in the remaining months of his life. I cannot find fault with the standard of care he received there. Unfortunately, his condition was not going to improve but he was able to end his days there without the need for hospital admission. The terminal care he received was excellent.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Shaw Red Hill.

My father suffers from dementia and other ailments. We moved him from a care home in Upton as we were very disappointed with the care he was receiving there. What a difference! This home is efficient, kind in their dealings with my father. The staff are hard working and they show huge empathy with all their residents. Plus the communication between the family and the staff is exemplary. The residents are happy and very well cared for. What a super place. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Since arriving at Shaw Red Hill, my mother has received exemplary nursing care and support. As a family, we are able to relax in the knowledge that she is respected and looked after. No one ever wants to be in my mother's situation and institutionalise, but the fact she has been so well looked after is the only reason she has continued to be with us this past four years. Lovely staff, understanding and very attentive.
