With no previous experience of a 'care home' environment, I can only say that we were blessed when my aunt was accepted here. The overall standard of care she has received has been first class, thank you! There has only been one blip in nearly ten years and given the nature of the job and high turnover of staff we should perhaps not be surprised and even be grateful! Should I end up in a similar situation as my aunt I hope Shaw Red Hill would find a place for me? Cheers!

Since my sister has been at Shaw Red Hill we have all seen a vast improvement in her.
She is so contented, it's lovely to see.
The staff are so caring and nothing is too much trouble.
Dementia is upsetting to see but I'm so glad she is where she is, being looked after properly is a big weight lifted from my mind.

I cannot thank the staff enough.

My mother suffers from Vascular Dementia which became obvious following a UTI around the time of her 96th Birthday. This has left her very confused and with a loss of short and medium-term memory.
She moved into Red Hill after a difficult experience with a previous care home. She benefits from the higher level of care provided at Red Hill and has responded well to the care and nursing staff.

I feel happy knowing that she is well cared for in a safe environment. She eats well and is complimentary about the food. I am pleasantly surprised at how well she has adapted.

The home is well managed and family members are in receipt of regular emails relating to activities for residents and other necessary business. When necessary, staff ring to inform i.e any individual needs/changes affecting a resident on a personal basis. All the staff are approachable, answering any questions/queries arising. Residential records are details and are up to date and available to family members when visiting. Family members may visit at any time they choose.

All staff work hard to meet residents' needs.

My mother was a resident at the home for about 18 months during which she was treated with exceptional kindness and caring. Right up to her death she was treated with dignity and was cared for in such a way her passing was very peaceful. I cannot thank the staff enough for the treatment of my mum and our family.

Although my Mum was only here for a month, she was at home.
The staff were friendly, kind, very caring and supportive to my Mum and also the rest of the family.
The cheerful, caring way that they carried out their duties made it feel a lovely place to be.
Nothing was too much trouble and we always were kept informed.
Mum was in the Alzheimer's area and was treated with dignity and respect for all her care needs.
She passed away there in her room in a lovely environment.

I would recommend this place, it may not be 'fancy or hotel-like' but it was definitely 'home' and I wouldn't have wanted her anywhere else.

Mum is always cared for very well. She has recently moved rooms due to the reorganisation of Saphhire Unit and it all went smoothly. The staff and management really worked hard to ensure she settled well into her new room, which we think is very homely. Well done, all staff and management.

My aunt who has severe dementia has been resident at this home for 5+ years and has always been treated with dignity and respect. The home has a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere and I have never had any cause to complain about any staff member. Thank you all.

Overall not good. I feel that the CQC explains everything, needs improvement. Its a shame as we had high hopes for the home, but it is very much let down in several areas. Would I recommend it, absolutely not? My profession, I am a mental health nurse. This is my opinion formulated from several visits to see my Nan.

I would like to congratulate the staff at Shaw Red Hill. They really make a difference to the home with their cheerfulness, dedication and hard work. They show they like their job as they look happy in what they are doing with singing, laughter and they sing along with the residents when the music is on. This makes the home lively and it makes it a pleasure coming to the home - it makes it a home from home.

I could be really depressed with the whole situation of my husband's condition. Coming to the home makes me feel better. It is lovely to see the staff happy in their work. By the way, the gardens are lovely with all their plants and hanging baskets. Thank you so much.

My dad was placed at Redhill. It was hard to see him in a home but knew he was safe, warm and had 24-hour support whilst mum was in hospital. Staff were so supportive to our family. Mum was declared end of life and Redhill pulled out all the stops to accommodate her so she could spend her last days with dad. Mum was happy to be there, called it her 'home'. We visited daily and any concerns were shared with staff and dealt with. We stayed with dad constantly for his last days of life, he was treated with dignity and love. In the hours following his passing, the staff cared for us all with that same level of compassion. Supported by staff, mum actually rallied around living to see her 90th birthday. She had her hair and nails done, visited the pub, made cakes etc. etc. Not bad for someone declared end of life in hospital. I believe strongly it's a testament to the care given at Redhill. Mum slipped away at Redhill, afforded the same dignity and love. I thank them all from the bottom of my heart.

I feel that by posting a review, much-needed help can be provided for residents in this care home. I have noticed that all other reviews were written within a 2 week period after a residents meeting. It does not paint a true picture of the home.

There are individuals within the home who are absolutely fantastic. However, the entertainment is very limp and almost non-existent. Head office does not want to know when there is a problem.

Fortunately, my mother is now free of the place having passed away on the 20th August.

In the last two weeks, I spent up to five hours a day in the home. There was no dignity for my mother as other residents just walked in and out of her room as she was in the last few days of her life. Absolutely disgusted.

My dear friend was resident in this care home on 229 London Road, Worcester until she sadly passed away on 17th May.

Her care there was second to none, it was delivered with great dignity, compassion and love, meeting her every need before and up to her end of life care.

I moved my partner into Red Hill from another nursing home in January 2017. I am delighted with the care he is receiving here. The staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble. He seems brighter and happier than he has been for the last 2 years. There are always plenty of staff around and they all know my partner although he is new. He is treated with great care and dignity. Although he can be difficult they seem to be able to handle him very well. Myself and his family are very pleased with Red Hill.

Overall Experience

Choosing Red Hill was no random process for my brothers and I, we were very careful about where she went. I turned up unannounced at every suitable home within a 20-mile radius of Worcester. Some I wrote off from the first visit, unsuitable for a variety of reasons, including ease of access to the resident's rooms (this shouldn't be possible), hygiene & staff attitudes. Without paying any regard to cost I narrowed the list down to 4 homes. I didn't tell my brothers that I preferred Red Hill, I let them decide. When we had it to two on quality, I thought Red Hill might be nicer, and after 18 months and about 500+ visits, I still think it's a high-quality facility, with a large core of staff who have stayed in the post through all that time. My mother seems content, and we are all happy with the quality of the staff . They got a tough CQC recently, but given the number of visits I have made with no agenda beyond the care of my mum, I would say I'm a better-informed judge than their snapshot.
