We cannot praise Churchill House highly enough for their care of our father since May 2019. The staff are warm, welcoming, inclusive and very professional. They clearly love their job.

Sadly we had to book our 91-year-old mother into Churchill House in March 2020. She was very poorly at the time, the care she received as a resident was wonderful. Then lockdown came, very sad we could not see Mum but whenever we rang to see how Mum was, all the staff were great at informing us all
about Mum.
Mum passed away in September 2020, we as a family were very pleased Mum was around kind and caring people.

My mother spent one year at Churchill House. She passed away on January 10th 2020.
Before she was admitted to the care-home, Mum knew very little peace, with frequent falls, innumerable spells in hospital, and worsening vascular dementia. She was finally fast-tracked to Churchill House by the NHS
for end-of-life care.
Within 2 weeks, Mum had made a totally unexpected partial recovery, defying all the odds. This was clearly down to the exceptional skills and compassion of Churchill House staff. The round-the-clock care, stimulating activities, with the emphasis on 'living' and the 'here-and-now', all contributed to my mum living a further year - and with quality. She had found tranquility.
When my own time comes, should I need the same kind of care, I can only trust that my carers will be from the same egg as those who looked after my mother.

During the 2 and a half years my mother spent in the home the staff always treated her well and always in her best interests. She enjoyed the high-quality food and the many varied activities that were provided.
The home was a pleasant environment whether it was the bedrooms, dining room, lounges or
garden. As my mother approached the end of life the professionalism, care and compassion she was afforded by the staff who tended her were exemplary.

My father was a resident from March 22 to December 22, 2019, when he passed away in hospital. During my regular visits, I found all staff helpful, professional and friendly. The home had a good atmosphere, made visitors welcome, and appeared to work hard to make residents comfortable and content.

My mother was a resident at Churchill House for 4 years and throughout that time, I have always found the staff to be very caring, kind and friendly. The home is very well led and all the staff are approachable at any time.
I found the end of life care to be excellent and I would have no hesitation
in recommending the home.

All the staff at Churchill House in Ludlow provide the best care for my father after his operation. But more than that though, they are kind and compassionate and genuinely care about their residents.
We couldn't have asked for more.

My father went into Churchill House for 3 weeks for end of life care. His cancer was far advanced and very aggressive but the staff of Churchill House made all of us feel welcome at any time of day. Spent time to explain how his care would progress. All carers/nurses showed the greatest respect and
compassion to dad and us at this dreadful time.

The Churchill House team are outstanding in the loving care they give to residents. Wonderfully led from the top but friendly and efficient all the way thought they are all always prepared to fo the extra mile. Their kindness and understanding allow my husband to retain his dignity and his happy smiling
personality which was a great comfort when visiting him. Their end of life care was particularly outstanding taking care of us as well as the patient in such a lovely sympathetic way.

I initially had hoped to remain in my own flat and was quite adamant. It was shown to me by my son and daughter in no uncertain manner that I was no longer able to.
On arrival in Churchill House, I was at first difficult, I was first sorted out by my daughter and the staff dealt with me very well I
was impressed. I consider myself lucky that I was sent here. ( My attitude is covered by the options below).

My brother was treated with kindness. They showed extreme dignity towards his death. He was happy and comfortable. The staff treated all my family with kindness and helpfulness. Churchill House is run extremely well. It was always spotlessly clean. Thank God my brother spent his last days in there.
Thank you all so much.

My father has recently been a resident at Churchill House and my mother and myself have been grateful every day and remarked how lucky we felt that we had chosen that home for him to end his life in. The care he received was always of a very high standard, the staff were professional in their approach
and yet friendly and kind as well. I feel that all levels of staff were prepared to go above and beyond their duty and nothing was too much trouble for them. Considerations were made when my father displayed anxieties around the moving and handling equipment and a plan was put in place immediately to support him with this. Sadly my father's condition deteriorated more rapidly than expected and the support we received from the staff during his end of life care was exceptional.
My father always seemed happy whilst he was a resident, to the point that he thought he was in a hotel and that brought great relief to us as a family.
I cannot thank the staff enough for all they did for us, they are exceptional.

My mother has been looked after with extreme care, consideration and most importantly, love. It is never the easiest decision to place your relative in a care home but we were fortunate to choose Churchill House, Ludlow. Our mother was treated with the utmost dignity at all times and my brother and

My Mother in law was expertly looked after during her stay. The end of life care was exceptional and the staff, whilst professional, were caring towards her.
Every time we visited the staff were courteous and helpful. The room was bright with a lovely view of the gardens with bird tables and garden

Since mum arrived at the home, I felt she had fallen on her feet. She has always been shown kindness and I feel she is part of a bigger family. Recently, she caught a very nasty chest infection and was not expected to last the night. I was kept fully informed of her progress and allowed to remain in
her room overnight. The doctor was called and fortunately, the medicine allowed her to fight the infection to make a full recovery. Mum's nurses and carers showed tenderness, care and concern, applying themselves to her care with their usual professionalism. Although mum is bedridden and suffers from vascular dementia, this has made no difference to the care provided. I am happy to give Churchill House my fullest recommendation.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.705)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.705) out of 10 for Churchill House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.705 for Churchill House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (211 Excellents x 5) + (50 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 271 Ratings = 4.705
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Churchill House Care Home is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 62 registered maximum number of service users is 12.4, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
