Abbeywell Court Nursing and Residential Home

I highly recommend Abbeywell Court for the care and attention residents have, the staff are always busy, feeding, always on hand to calm residents if they get upset or agitated. Abbeywell Court, in my opinion, is excellently run because of A1 management and staff. The food is of excellent quality and nutritious. The communication is excellent. I've had no worries or stress over my nan because I know she gets all the care and attention she needs. 10/10.

It's a good home.

I have visited this care home at least twice a week, sometimes more, over the past year and found my husband being looked after extremely well, always very clean and tidy. His room is always pristine. The staff are very attentive to his needs and have a cheery welcome for me and family. Also there is a very clean smell, never an odour of urine, unlike other places I have visited.

I visit most days and notice that this standard never falters. She celebrated her 100th birthday in December 2018 and they gave her such a wonderful day. We are always welcomed as a family and would recommend this nursing home to anyone looking for a placement in a nursing home for their loved one.

Sadly, our mum recently passed away and in her final weeks, the care and compassion shown to her and our family was wonderful. Medication was on hand and administered quickly and expertly. It was reassuring at the end of her life, mum was cared for by people she knew and who knew her well and wanted to do their best for her. We will always be grateful.

I totally agree with what my sister said in the previous review about the care given to our Nan. We couldn’t have wished for any more. The party that was put on for the residents and family at Christmas was really enjoyable, with a raffle, entertainment and a very good buffet afterwards. Can’t praise the management and staff enough.

My Husband was a resident here for 1 year. He had Alzheimer's and had become too unwell to be cared for at home. The management and staff here are dedicated and kind to the residents. The home is clean and the food provided is very good. The staff are dedicated to the residents and my Husband was always nicely dressed and clean. There are activities for those able to participate and regular visits by a singer which is very enjoyable. When possible the residents are taken into the garden. My Husband died in December but I still go to the home to play the piano for them.

Outstanding levels of care provided by all of the staff, not only with Dads needs but were also very supportive of the family.

Care of residents is the most important consideration. Abbeywell is excellent. My mother has been a resident for 3 months and my confidence in the kindness, gentleness and patience of all staff is very high. Many of the staff are from ethnic backgrounds but their English is always good. Managers, nurses, carers, cooks and laundry staff are very friendly and very efficient. I am always told of any health issues, a chest infection was very closely monitored by the doctor, I was kept informed of her condition from which she has recovered. I am very pleased with my mum's care, she has settled well and seems content. I can visit whenever I like, staff care of all the residents seems excellent. Activities are planned for each month and include local outings.

My siblings and I are very pleased with the care and attention being given to our Mum who has late stage Alzheimer's Disease. All the staff are gentle, caring, helpful and hard working. Abbeywell Court is a very well run, safe and caring environment and we are all very glad to have found it.

This care home is head and shoulders above the rest.

A very pleasant, clean and friendly environment with activities and occasional entertainment. Patients are treated with dignity and respect. The home is extremely well managed and visitors are made to feel welcome at any time.

Mum has been a resident for over two months now so I feel well qualified to give this appraisal of Abbeywell. We as a family have regularly visited the home at various times during Mums residency, we have always found the home more than adequately staffed, with pleasant hard working people who always ensure that residents and visitors alike are cared for with courtesy and respect. We viewed quite a few homes prior to trusting Abbeywell with Mums care and I for one haven't regretted our decision for one second.

During his time there, about 10 months, Dad was always treated with respect and dignity. He could be challenging at times but the staff handled situations professionally. His changing dietary needs were reviewed regularly and monitored well. The staff work hard and always made us welcome and during Dads final days they all showed care and compassion to us and Dad. I would not hesitate in recommending Abbeywell as it is by far the best place I saw and my gut feeling was right, they could not have done anymore to make Dads final few months more comfortable. Thank you to all at Abbeywell.

My Mother has been very well cared for here since September 2016. She has complex physical and mental needs, so is quite challenging to care for. The care staff, nurses, support staff and Management are always caring, helpful and eager to engage both with residents and their relatives. Activities are appropriate for the nature of the residents and are tailored to meet individual requirements. Resident rooms are not large, but are of an adequate size and have an en-suite (if appropriate). The cuisine is good and tailored to specific resident requirements. From my perspective, the Home is sufficiently small to facilitate a personal and caring environment - has two floors. It is close to the A34 and A500, which enables good access for visiting by car.
