My mother was in Branston Court for a month on release from hospital. We thought the care she received was so empathetic and caring, everything was done for her comfort and all anxiety was eased for her in her final days. All thanks to Ruth and Claire and all the staff with a special mention for Kayci.

Mum was only in Branston Court for four weeks but she was looked after wonderfully by the staff there. Unfortunately she ended up on end of life care for the last week, and they went above and beyond to care for her. So happy with how she spent the last days of her life

Mum and the family have been made to feel very welcome by friendly staff. Mum is particularly enjoying her meals from a varied menu, all cooked very well. The home has a cosy atmosphere which has helped her settle. Our family feel reassured that Mum is being well cared for.

The whole team here are doing an outstanding job.

Nobody wants to be in a care home but the staff do everything they can to make this a happy place for the residents and to support their relatives. Can't fault them

Overall, I am very satisfied with my wife's care. She appears to be happy and settled. The staff are pleasant, friendly and very helpful. The few questions I have had have all been dealt with very efficiently, all were regarding minor matters.

Dad has been in the home since January 2025. He's settled in well. Staff are very friendly and caring. I've always been able to talk to them about any concerns and any matters regarding Dad have been sorted to the highest care and regards for Dad's well being. Food is lovely. Rooms are very clean. Staff are very welcoming. I highly recommend.

Everyone at Branston Court (care staff and admin) are very friendly, helpful and caring. What is important is that they keep the family informed about Dad when he has had health problems, which is very reassuring. It's a shame he doesn't eat very much as the food looks delicious!

Patients love it when they have the music on and do movements to it. Seem to enjoy it better than watching rubbish on the TV.

Like the pets that occasionally come in too.

Very nice, friendly, helpful staff.
Very clean.
Lovely room, nice to have the bed/toilet room in one.
Food looks good, Mum is a celiac, so no gluten, oats, wheat, rye or malt.
Chef is very good.

All I can say is that the staff are very friendly, some better than others.

My mum was transferred to Branston Court Care Home from hospital to receive end-of-life care.
During the few weeks she has been there, the staff have been friendly and caring. They are always approachable and it seems that nothing is too much trouble.

My mum and dad have always been adamant that they didn't want to go into any care home but my mum has been treated with dignity and respect and the entire family is pleased with the decision to transfer her there. My dad has even said he would be happy to go to Branston Court if it becomes necessary.

My husband has been in Branston Court for almost 4 years and although he has deteriorated in that time he has always been well looked after and the manager and all her staff should be given much credit for the work they do. Nothing is too much trouble and my husband is non verbal they seem to know what is needed to make him comfortable. As a result of the above, it gives me peace of mind knowing he is in safe hands.

My father has received exceptional care at Branston Court, as his condition has deteriorated. The staff are continually assessing and implementing the appropriate care as my father's health declines and his needs increase. The atmosphere at Branston Court is always cheerful and upbeat, the staff involve relatives constantly and they genuinely care about their patients. I'm very happy he's here.

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?

“To me, it means being person-centred and caring for residents both individually and holistically.”

As a Registered Nurse and specialist in Adult Nursing, Ruth has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for residents.

She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.

When asked why she originally chose to work in the care sector, Ruth said:

“It was because I love caring for people. It’s something that started when my grandad was poorly when I was eight and I needed to help put his socks on, I took real pride in caring for him. I’ve never worked in any other sector.”

When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Ruth remarked:

“I enjoy leading my team and encouraging them to create great things, plus I love working in a family-friendly environment”.

Ruth has also achieved much outside of work, with her proudest achievement being a mother to two sons. Outside of work, Ruth enjoys spending time with her husband and two boys, especially taking them to play for their football teams. She also enjoys watching Derby County.
