My husband, unfortunately, came into Branston Court, last August. I had no idea what I was to expect, when I finally got to see him (due to covid). He is looking fabulous. The care staff and management are spot on. His room is nice and well looked after. The management always keeps me updated. I receive a newsletter monthly, which I enjoy reading. His food always looks amazing. I will never be able to thank the staff enough. I now don't have to worry about him. He is happy.

My dad had been in hospital since January 2022 with a cocktail of health problems and I was passing Branston Court Home. I had heard excellent reviews about them. I stopped and rang the bell and was greeted by the manager. She was very welcoming and helpful and I asked if there was any room for my dad. She said yes and from that moment I felt relief that dad was going to be cared for in the way he deserved. Since Dad has been there, he has been treated with respect, love and care. He has settled in beautifully and the whole family are very happy with his care!

Mum has settled in far better than I could ever have imagined or hoped for. This is down to the superb team who welcomed her with open arms. Although Mum has only been here for a matter of weeks, she is really happy to call Branston Court her home. The care and facilities are the best we, as a family, have encountered and we have complete peace of mind. A massive thank you to the whole team.

Having worked as a senior manager in social care for 30 years, this is the best care home I have ever seen. My mother became a resident on 28th February 2022. I can't fault anything about Branston Court. Mum has settled well and feels safe and cared for. She has made the decision to remain at Branston Court. The manager and team are amazing, responsive and approachable. Nothing is too much trouble for the residents or us as the family. Brilliant resource!

My dad has been at Branston Court for three years now and the care he has received from day one has been first class. The facilties are of a high standard amd always clean. Communication from the staff and their undertsanding of dads condition is a great comfort. I would highly recommend Branston Court.

Following a six-week stay in hospital my dad's care was transferred to Branston Court Care Home, within days I noticed a positive change in him. In June of this year, he suffered a stroke and was given a short time to live. Since then he has been returned to the care home where his condition has gradually improved, helped by the high standard and professionalism of care afforded to him by the wonderful staff and management at Branston Court Care Home.

All I can say is that the four weeks that my mother spent at Branston Court were the best she had enjoyed for many months. The care and attention she received were second to none and helped her to settle in so easily. She was so happy here and the sadness is that her time here was so short. A sincere and heartfelt 'thank you' to the Manager and all her wonderful staff.

Mum arrived at Branston Court confused, lonely and losing weight. The staff have been incredible; they are kind, thoughtful and genuinely care. I am informed regularly about Mum's health and wellbeing, and thanks to their expertise and nurture, she is happy and gaining weight - I cannot thank them enough!

I was determined to try and get Mum a place at Branston Court because it has such a great reputation and it was highly recommended by a family friend. As soon as we walked into meet the manager on the first day (a few days before Mum's place was confirmed), I knew Mum would be looked after and cared for. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Mum has now been here for 3 days and she is starting to eat again and mobilise. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who all genuinely want Mum to flourish again.

After receiving a recommendation from a neighbour we approached Branston Court and were very pleased with the professional manner especially in relation to covid restrictions. As a result, dad moved in and is settled and happy. We feel all the staff involved with dads care are willing to go the extra mile. Nothing is too much trouble. I would have no hesitation in recommending Branston Court.

When we first came to Branston COurt we were welcomed in a professional manner by the manager and staff. It was clear it was a well-run establishment. On bringing our dear one in we were again made to feel reassured. Since lockdown, we have been even more impressed by the care, love and dedication shown to my mother and to us by the manager and her staff. We are lucky and happy mother is in such good hands. Thank you all.

Very caring staff who took time to get to know Mum. They were very gentle and attentive to Mum's needs and always supportive of our visits at such a difficult time. Allowing us to have a ground floor window room meant we spent Mum's final weeks able to see her and spend valuable time together after ten weeks apart.

When I first visited my husband on his first day here I cried because he was so happy and settled. The staff are so caring and treat him with respect and dignity. The past few months have been difficult for us both but it is like a home from home. Finally this week with a lot of help from the manager his placement has been confirmed which has been a big worry and made me feel poorly. The sympathetic manner in which we as a family are always treated is so very much appreciated.

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?

“To me, it means being person-centred and caring for residents both individually and holistically.”

As a Registered Nurse and specialist in Adult Nursing, Ruth has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for residents.

Having worked in the care sector for many years, Ruth closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.

When asked why she originally chose to work in the care sector, Ruth said:

“It was because I love caring for people. It’s something that started when my grandad was poorly when I was eight and I needed to help put his socks on, I took real pride in caring for him. I’ve never worked in any other sector.”

When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Ruth remarked:

“I enjoy leading my team and encouraging them to create great things, plus I love working in a family-friendly environment”.

Ruth has also achieved much outside of work, with her proudest achievement being a mother to two sons. Outside of work, Ruth enjoys spending time with her husband and two boys, especially taking them to play for their football teams. She also enjoys watching Derby County.
