My mother has been at Himley Mill for twelve months, and I am completely happy with the care provided. The staff are all very helpful and caring. Nothing is too much trouble for them with what has been a very difficult year for us all.

I wasn't very happy when I first came; I was used to my independence but the staff and girls have always been wonderful, thoughtful and did everything I asked of them. We are fed well, kept clean - what more can we ask for. Thank you always.

They are all so helpful and friendly. I am allowed to visits once a week in a 'pod', and this has been fabulous; very well arranged and so

As a family we were devastated when we could no longer look after our mother at home, however, the staff at Himley Mill soon took all our anxiety away. From the very first contact we had with the admin staff to all the care and nursing staff we and my mother received the most caring support. My mother
was looked after and her last few months were in an environment of love and comfort. No family could have asked for more.

My mother was resident in Himley Mill Care Home from March 2020 to February 2021. During this time I found her carers to show very high levels of compassion, experience and competence when dealing with her. Their attention to her mental well-being was particularly welcome during the current lockdown
conditions, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, when I was unable to visit as often as I would wish.
The home is currently undergoing refurbishment of the resident's rooms, which I think is timely as the condition was a little shabby although perfectly clean.

Please note that my wife's residence has been entirely under Covid regulations, so I have little knowledge of the inside of the unit. I can say that the management and nursing staff I have talked to seem very competent and professional. I look forward to being able to visit my wife regularly soon.

My experience from dealing with the staff at Himley Mill Care Home is excellent. I cannot fault their care and patience in dealing with my mum. Unfortunately, I cannot really comment on the facilities due to Covid and no access into the building.

The home looks after my father with the best care and attention at all times. His health challenges are always considered and attention to the needs are never ignored.
This home provides the highest level of care I could wish for and wraps their residents in a care and love like you would provide
(if it were achievable by a relative).
These observations and comments are made during the COVID controls applicable at the time. I have now been allowed to commence window visits from October 2020. Thank you.

I believe she was well looked after during her time at Himley Mill. She was not the most easiest of residents, but the girls (permanent staff) knew her quirks and knew how to handle her. Which I discovered was a key element in her care. Staff needed to understand dementia to care for her, something
not all care homes have.

I found this nursing home Himley Mill second to none. They were absolutely fabulous, all of the nursing staff there with my mum kept her clean and looked after her right up until she died. Couldn't thank them enough.

Introducing Amy Barton, Home Manager at Himley Mill Care Home, Dudley


We asked Amy what ‘kindness’ means to her;
“Kind care to me means going that extra mile, putting a smile on someone's face, and going home knowing that I have made a difference in someone's day. Caring is something that I think comes naturally to me, and if you are a caring person, you will always do your best to make that difference, whether it’s big or small.”


During her career Amy has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Talking about her previous experience, Amy said:
“I have worked in care since I was 19 years old, and I've always had a caring side and wanted to make a difference to people’s lives. My personal passion is dementia and end-of-life care.”


Amy closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Amy remarked:
“Every day is different. My role is very busy, and I like that I get to make a difference: I get to see residents being able to live happily whilst having support with their daily needs. It’s very rewarding and I’m very proud that I’ve reached a management position where I am responsible for the residents in my care and for the team supporting that care.


My HC-One name badge says ‘Never waste your days’. It’s something my sister said to me once, and it’s become my work motto. I try and fit as much as I can into each day, so I can give the most support to our residents I possibly can.”


Amy has also achieved much outside of work, with her proudest moments being raising money for charities close to her heart in her sisters’ memory. She enjoys spending time with her family, especially with her young daughter who keeps her very busy at home and going on holidays and visiting different places in the UK and abroad.
