I found this nursing home Himley Mill second to none. They were absolutely fabulous, all of the nursing staff there with my mum kept her clean and looked after her right up until she died. Couldn't thank them enough.

I would highly rate Himley Mill, Beeches dementia ward. My father sadly passed away in March 2020. Beeches staff were very good, it's a very clean and friendly place. The residents were highly looked after, where staff made them comfortable and always kept them clean.

Felt a lack of care - 12 hours to provide bedpan.
Rudeness from younger recruits.
A long time to answer the bell for attention.
'Hot' food served almost cold.
A loving relationship with carers with longer experience.
Confusion with patient's own clothes and/or belongings.
Mattress on the bed not
very comfortable - lumpy.

I found that the care and attention she received was very good. She enjoyed her meals and was encouraged to join in the activities, which helped her immensely. I was kept informed of any problems healthwise/personal, and they were dealt with quickly.

The care home is run very efficiently, the staff are kind and welcoming. Rooms are spotless and kept very tidy. All requests are dealt with promptly. Laundry is well washed and ironed if needed.

From previous poor experiences of care homes, the family have been blown away by the care and support of my grandfather. We have seen his physical health improve before our eyes. He is happy, clean and stimulated daily. All the staff at Himley Mill Care Home genuinely have my grandfather's care at the
top of their priority and they also had time to support us as a family too. I have no concerns about this home and would not think twice about recommending it to others.

My mother has been looked after at Himley Mill for approximately 6 months following a fall and hospitalisation. There is a very happy and friendly atmosphere here. Staff are very helpful and caring. Mom has now been discharged to home having made excellent improvement and we are now caring for her ourselves.
In time if need be I will definitely look to place Mom back here.

My husband came here from hospital, although he was only here for a short time the care he received was 100%. On his passing all the staff treated myself and all the family with utmost compassion. Can't thank them enough. Thank you so much highly recommend.

Introducing Amy Barton, Home Manager at Himley Mill Care Home, Dudley


We asked Amy what ‘kindness’ means to her;
“Kind care to me means going that extra mile, putting a smile on someone's face, and going home knowing that I have made a difference in someone's day. Caring is something that I think comes naturally to me, and if you are a caring person, you will always do your best to make that difference, whether it’s big or small.”


During her career Amy has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Talking about her previous experience, Amy said:
“I have worked in care since I was 19 years old, and I've always had a caring side and wanted to make a difference to people’s lives. My personal passion is dementia and end-of-life care.”


Amy closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Amy remarked:
“Every day is different. My role is very busy, and I like that I get to make a difference: I get to see residents being able to live happily whilst having support with their daily needs. It’s very rewarding and I’m very proud that I’ve reached a management position where I am responsible for the residents in my care and for the team supporting that care.


My HC-One name badge says ‘Never waste your days’. It’s something my sister said to me once, and it’s become my work motto. I try and fit as much as I can into each day, so I can give the most support to our residents I possibly can.”


Amy has also achieved much outside of work, with her proudest moments being raising money for charities close to her heart in her sisters’ memory. She enjoys spending time with her family, especially with her young daughter who keeps her very busy at home and going on holidays and visiting different places in the UK and abroad.
