It's the 3rd home he has been for dementia over the last few years and to say Himley Mill has changed his life is an understatement. When he arrived in their care he was unresponsive bed bound and on deaths door . In months he was up walking around and back to feeding himself .well done to them

I find the house is often understaffed. Some staff are more approachable than others, there the ones you see rushing about. Would like to see more interaction with residents. Some spend more time with visitors talking. Meals don't always look the best, meat tough, veg undercooked, or too hard for residents to chew. Some places in the home could do with a good clean, toilets, skirting boards, and radiators. See very few activities taking place.

Since my father moved in Oct 25 he has received the best care we could ask for as a family. He has settled well, staff and residents are all lovely, and I cannot make any faults/negative comments. Heals, activities were good, and staff always engaging. Clean and tidy, overall fantastic care home.

Mom is looked after with kindness and care. During Christmas, and the hardship of carers getting into work during the snow. Mom didn't lack any personal care or support. The food as always is lovely (I've tried it). The activities going on in the unit are entertaining and geared towards the nursing needs of the residents. Mom takes part when able. My thanks to all the care team. x

My father has been a resident at Himley Hill for 2.5 years in Willow the dementia unit. In which time, he has settled in so well when he's out he asks to go home.

I can't thank the management (Amy) enough, and staff they are amazing. On 15th October I got married and two members of staff escorted my dad, Lowie, and Alex, which meant the world to me and Chris. Thank you.

My mom was at Himley Mill for almost 2 years. The staff there are fantastic. I cannot fault anyone who looked after my mom. They all operate with care, respect, love & kindness. I knew that Mom was in the best hands and was very well looked after & safe. The staff would keep in touch with me & were always very helpful. I couldn't have wished for a better home & better care for my mom - who had vascular dementia. Huge thanks to you all. xx

My mother has been in this care home for nine months and is extremely happy to be there. The staff are very attentive and are always willing to help with anything my mom needs. Recently they took the residents to a village hall, where they were entertained by singers and had food, etc, etc. Mom was ecstatic about the whole experience and couldn't wait to tell us all about it when we visited. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Himley Mill to anyone 100%.

On the whole our experience has been very positive. We have few little niggles, missing clothes, we appreciate it's a nightmare managing returning laundry, to three separate buildings. I chose to do the laundry myself.
My sister in law is generally happy and well cared for. Our main desire.
Her room is nicely decorated and very pleasant. A comfortable environment.
The staff are lovely my sister in law loves them.
The food is generally of a good standard, my sister in law often makes some unusual choices. We appreciate it's her prerogative. It often causes hilarity. Every little helps.

Generally it's a thumbs up from us. Well done Chestnut Himley Mill.

My mom has just been collected from Himley Mill, after staying for 1 week's respite. She is a strong-headed woman and didn't want to go. She has had a lovely time in there. She has been very well looked after & really liked all the staff. She said they were all so very kind to her. We will definitely ask for another respite for my mom.

Thank you so much Himley Mill.

My mother in law was on willow with dementia for the last months of her life the staff were always caring and friendly with family and my mother in law. Could be more activities for dementia residents that was the only fault we had .and sometimes it seemed short staffed on some days. I would recommend willow and himley mill for anyone looking for a care home.

All the staff are excellent, very caring and always take time to talk to me about my mom. What I love is the fact that all carers and nurses know about my mom and what she gets up to in the day, which is heart warming. They tend to her needs with food as she can be very fussy and know exactly what she eats. Even the cleaners, maintenance and admin staff are so friendly. I couldn't wish for a better home for my mom to be in. Miraculously, mom's walking has improved and her way of life since being at Himley Mill Care Home. Thank you everyone.

Amy Barton
Amy BartonJob Title:Home Manager

Introducing Amy Barton, Home Manager at Himley Mill Care Home, Dudley

We asked Amy what ‘kindness’ means to her;

“Kind care to me means going that extra mile, putting a smile on someone's face, and going home knowing that I have made a difference in someone's day. Caring is something that I think comes naturally to me, and if you are a caring person, you will always do your best to make that difference, whether it’s big or small.”

During her career Amy has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.

Talking about her previous experience, Amy said:

“I have worked in care since I was 19 years old, and I've always had a caring side and wanted to make a difference to people’s lives. My personal passion is dementia and end-of-life care.”

Amy closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.

When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Amy remarked:

“Every day is different. My role is very busy, and I like that I get to make a difference: I get to see residents being able to live happily whilst having support with their daily needs. It’s very rewarding and I’m very proud that I’ve reached a management position where I am responsible for the residents in my care and for the team supporting that care.

My HC-One name badge says ‘Never waste your days’. It’s something my sister said to me once, and it’s become my work motto. I try and fit as much as I can into each day, so I can give the most support to our residents I possibly can.”

Amy has also achieved much outside of work, with her proudest moments being raising money for charities close to her heart in her sisters’ memory. She enjoys spending time with her family, especially with her young daughter who keeps her very busy at home and going on holidays and visiting different places in the UK and abroad.

If you would like to find out more about Himley Mill Care Home, Amy would be delighted to have an informal discussion with you to answer any questions and provide further information.
