My parents are very well cared for by the wonderful staff in Himley Mill. All their needs are provided for and our family feel very secure with their treatment.
The food is good and plentiful, the rooms comfortable and clean and the entertainment/activity manager is always organising events and activities
for the residents. We are very pleased with all aspects of the home. Thank you.

The care my mother has received has been exceptional, I cannot offer my gratitude to the staff enough, they have treated my mom with the dignity and care that she has needed. Mom has been well looked after and treated as one of the family whilst she has been a resident on The Willows unit at Himley
Mill Nursing Home.

My mum has been in Himley Mill for about 2 years now. It is by far the best care home she has been in. The staff go above and beyond to meet all her needs and ours as her family, she is always clean and always very happy. She has been a different lady since moving into Himley Mill and as a family, we
could not ask for any more. We hope that she is able to spend many more happy years at Himley Mill. We can't praise the staff enough. A big thank you.

A good place for my wife to be. The care is good but a bit dependent on the care staff on duty. Some carers are excellent, some are still learning their skills. Management seems aloof and not open to helpful suggestions. Activities are appropriate for most residents but some residents might need a slightly
varied menu.

My husband was admitted to Himley Mill Care Home on 26th June 2023. Sadly he died on the 28th but in those three days, he was happy and was treated with love and respect. A great comfort to me. I too was treated very well.

My brother is doing so well, he's happy and looking well. The staff are all lovely, nothing is too much trouble and the care is excellent.
The home is bright and well maintained and the gardens are nice to sit in with my brother as he loves the outdoors.

my mother stayed here briefly before she died the staff were all professional, competent and extremely caring. We (family) sat with Mum in her final hours and we were provided with water, sandwiches etc. Nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend Himley Mill Care Home to anyone. A very caring environment.

My wife has been in Himley Mill for over two years (Chesnut unit). I visit every day. I know all carers, nurses, entertainment ladies, laundry ladies, cleaners and maintenance; they are all dedicated special people who look after my wife. I thank them all every day. Himley Mill has a new manager and
receptionist, both are approachable and very nice, both running Himley Mill to its high standards.

I would recommend the Himley Mill Care Home to anybody who asks my opinion of it, as indeed I already have. The staff and carers are so kind and cheerful, not only to my husband but also myself. Whenever I visit him, his room is always clean and tidy and welcoming. His personal hygiene is good and clothing
very acceptable. All in all, we made the right choice in making Himley Mill a care home for my husband. A very hard decision to make after lots of married life together but definitely the right one.

When my mother came to Himley Mill Care Home, she was very happy this is no longer the case. You have lost a lot of good caring staff for whatever reason. Your biggest asset was your staff, this is no longer the case. There is a shortage of staff and vital equipment i.e. pads for incontinence/pads for
night. My mother was left with inadequate protection which in my view is neglect. The management does not seem to be aware of the problems. Also, the food is inedible - so tough cannot be chewed or even cut.

I cannot thank the whole team on Chestnut unit for the care and kindness shown to my mom who sadly passed away today.
She moved in the day of first lockdown in March 2020 and she was shown nothing but care compassion kindness dignity and overall love like I could never have imagined.
They took the
time to get to know her and how she lived and always ensured that things were exactly as she wanted them.
My mom had her favourite staff members as happens but they all treated her as well I could do and that is something I can never thank them for.

Mom was a resident at Himley Mill Care Home for nearly four years until she recently passed away. In that time, I found that nothing was too much trouble for the carers, nurses and office staff. Mom was looked after by staff, who genuinely seemed to treat her like she was their own family. She was always
kept clean and nicely dressed, and staff would involve her in activities. The staff were also a great support to our family during what has been a very difficult period. The interior of the home has recently been refurbished, but due to the Covid pandemic I have not seen the results of this work.
I never had any cause for concern with the care mom was receiving, which was very reassuring for me. I really can't thank them enough.

Introducing Amy Barton, Home Manager at Himley Mill Care Home, Dudley


We asked Amy what ‘kindness’ means to her;
“Kind care to me means going that extra mile, putting a smile on someone's face, and going home knowing that I have made a difference in someone's day. Caring is something that I think comes naturally to me, and if you are a caring person, you will always do your best to make that difference, whether it’s big or small.”


During her career Amy has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Talking about her previous experience, Amy said:
“I have worked in care since I was 19 years old, and I've always had a caring side and wanted to make a difference to people’s lives. My personal passion is dementia and end-of-life care.”


Amy closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Amy remarked:
“Every day is different. My role is very busy, and I like that I get to make a difference: I get to see residents being able to live happily whilst having support with their daily needs. It’s very rewarding and I’m very proud that I’ve reached a management position where I am responsible for the residents in my care and for the team supporting that care.


My HC-One name badge says ‘Never waste your days’. It’s something my sister said to me once, and it’s become my work motto. I try and fit as much as I can into each day, so I can give the most support to our residents I possibly can.”


Amy has also achieved much outside of work, with her proudest moments being raising money for charities close to her heart in her sisters’ memory. She enjoys spending time with her family, especially with her young daughter who keeps her very busy at home and going on holidays and visiting different places in the UK and abroad.
