I've put my partner in this care home about 10 times. Staff have always been very helpful with a nice smile on their faces. Good ratio of staff to patients and I'm confident my partner gets the best care possible having worked in many care homes in the past 30 years (plumbing), this is the best I have
encountered.

Dad is well looked after at the home. He is always neat and tidy and washed. The staff are good and Dad is comfortable. The room is adequate and the bed is always clean and comfortable.

The staff are very caring and approachable. The nursing staff are knowledgeable and supportive. Activities - staff worked hard to involve the residents in organised activities and were able to respond speedily to spontaneous requests/events, i.e. the anniversary of a resident was organised the same
day!
The food is good quality and there is a good choice available at all times.

Himley Mill in one word brilliant. My husband has been there for 18 months I cannot think of one bad thing to say about the staff which includes nurses, carers, activity and administration staff, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are immaculately clean, meals are varied and made to a high standard.
It was our golden Wedding yesterday and we were given the most lovely day by all the staff and hats off to the entertainment staff for cake donations towards Macmillan day I cried for most of the day but they were happy tears.


I would have no hesitation in recommending Himley Mill for your loved ones.

The staff at Beech House (dementia unit) were extremely courteous, friendly and caring to my father and all family members. All of his personal care was carried out to an extremely high standard. I would recommend this unit to anyone. He was treated with dignity and respect to the end of his life.

My mother was cared for at Himley Mill for the last ten months of her life. The staff were incredibly caring and kind during that time and did everything they could to help us make mum's final days as comfortable as possible. All the staff were incredibly supportive to us as a family and to me in particular,
at a very difficult time. Mum died aged 94, of old age and her last months were made much happier by being in a safe and caring environment.

The care staff are very caring. They are very sympathetic and will put an arm around the residents if they are upset about anything. The food is very good and so are the activities. They do activities every week and they had a musician in and the residents loved this. They occasionally take the residents
out to the local hotel for a meal.

I found all staff very pleasant and caring and did a very good job of looking after my dad. The only fault my dad had was on his area it was very noisy with doors banging and residents shouting so not a very relaxing experience. He enjoyed the trips he went on. Boat trip and down the pub.

My husband came to Himley Mill on the 6/6/16 I was very worried about the transfer from a respite home. On arrival he was treated brilliantly. All the staff were not only wonderful to my husband, they also put my mind at rest. Having been a very frequent visitor since my husband moved there I must say
that the staff and management are dedicated thoughtful and caring, They keep me informed of my husbands progress. I rate this unit highly. I would 100% recommend Himley Mill to anyone with a relative that has to go into care. The lady that is over Beech is wonderful.

My mother entered Himley Mill from hospital. She was very ill and had a short prognosis. The excellent care has improved her health physically and she is almost back to herself. My mother has lived an independent life for many years, and I think that the loss of independence has been difficult for her
to adapt to. Knowing that she needs 24 hour nursing and care I am satisfied that Himley Mill is the best place to provide this.

A little early to do a review as my mother has only been a resident for two days. The only comment I have to make is I am not totally confident on how they deal with a person who cannot see and is not used to always being seated in the lounge particularly as she is 97 years old.

From initial contact onwards all the staff treated dad (the resident) and all his family with the utmost dignity. Without exception the staff were excellent in their caring, friendliness, empathy yet professional manner. Their pleasant and openness approach was very much welcomed, as was their excellent
communication to us all at a very difficult time. The information and updates were relevant, timely, practical but always with the comfort of the resident at the heart of all that they achieved. We would recommend Himley Mill as an outstanding care home!

My mothers stay at Himley Mill was brief (17 days) but the facility and care provided by staff were both excellent. The room was clean and comfortable and setting is very peaceful. The care regime was well documented and staff were always happy to provide us with updates. A number of them took a keen
interest in her. When she passed away the nurse on duty made all the phone calls to the doctor and funeral director- a great help. Sadly she was never well enough to take part in the social activities but it is clear that staff go out of their way to make stays as pleasant as possible. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this nursing home.

Introducing Amy Barton, Home Manager at Himley Mill Care Home, Dudley


We asked Amy what ‘kindness’ means to her;
“Kind care to me means going that extra mile, putting a smile on someone's face, and going home knowing that I have made a difference in someone's day. Caring is something that I think comes naturally to me, and if you are a caring person, you will always do your best to make that difference, whether it’s big or small.”


During her career Amy has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Talking about her previous experience, Amy said:
“I have worked in care since I was 19 years old, and I've always had a caring side and wanted to make a difference to people’s lives. My personal passion is dementia and end-of-life care.”


Amy closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Amy remarked:
“Every day is different. My role is very busy, and I like that I get to make a difference: I get to see residents being able to live happily whilst having support with their daily needs. It’s very rewarding and I’m very proud that I’ve reached a management position where I am responsible for the residents in my care and for the team supporting that care.


My HC-One name badge says ‘Never waste your days’. It’s something my sister said to me once, and it’s become my work motto. I try and fit as much as I can into each day, so I can give the most support to our residents I possibly can.”


Amy has also achieved much outside of work, with her proudest moments being raising money for charities close to her heart in her sisters’ memory. She enjoys spending time with her family, especially with her young daughter who keeps her very busy at home and going on holidays and visiting different places in the UK and abroad.
