As a leading provider of nursing care for elderly people with dementia, complex dementia, stroke, progressive neurological illnesses and enduring mental health needs. The home provides bespoke enablement care for people with a variety of shorter-term needs as well as long-term nursing care.

At Lakeview Care Home, they have the expertise and trained staff available to provide enablement health beds to people needing short-term support. These transitional placements in to the caring and secure environment of a specialist care facility have proved to be very successful with NHS partners and warmly received by short stay residents.

Working in partnership with local Trusts, they provide a number of enablement health beds for elderly residents across a number of scenarios, including:

Elderly people who are ready for discharge but are awaiting a full social services package to be put in place before going.

Elderly people who are on the road to full recovery but need some additional physiotherapy and/or occupational therapy support on a short-term basis to rebuild confidence and skills before going home.

Elderly people who require a long-term placement who can be cared for in an enablement health bed, rather than block a badly needed NHS bed, while their permanent placement is being finalised

Their service includes providing nursing care for people with complex dementias, those who have had strokes or are dealing with progressive neurological illnesses and also palliative care for residents who are reaching the end of their life.

By providing their nursing service from within the Lakeview Care Home complex, staff are able to provide a clear pathway to/from specialist complex dementia or residential, respite and enablement services. Residents can step up/step down as required rather than having to transfer to an alternative health or care setting.

My wife has been at Lakeview now for nearly 3 years, in that time she has been very happy and contented, her room is excellent, and she is well looked after by the lovely staff. It's nice that the home allows me to visit sometimes my border collie (Izzy) which my wife looks forward to.

My wife has been at Lakeview five and a half years and has nothing but love and kindness shown to her. She is so well looked after and so comfortable because of the wonderful staff here on the Buttermere unit. My wife was transfered to Buttermere 18 months ago because of her more nursing needs and given
a room that over looks the farm. All the staff at Lakeview are wonderful and go above and beyond to make sure the residents come first.
Reply from Gina Cirino, Senior Operations Manager at Lakeview Care HomeThank you so much for your heartfelt review and for sharing your experience with us. It means a great deal to hear that your wife has felt so loved, comfortable and well cared for during her time at Lakeview.
We are especially pleased to know that the team on Buttermere have provided the support and compassion your wife needed following her move to the unit. Creating a warm, caring environment where residents feel safe, valued and at home is always our priority, and your kind words truly reflect the dedication of our staff.
Thank you for recognising the efforts of the entire Lakeview team, our colleagues work incredibly hard to ensure residents always come first, and your appreciation will mean so much to them all.
Thank you once again for your trust and support over the past five and a half years. It is a privilege to care for your wife and to support your family.

Dad was moved the Keswick unit from the hospital. Every member of staff has treated my dad with dignity. They have made every family member feel welcome always offering us a drink and updated us on my dad's condition. Communication has been excellent. Special mention to Gazeta the lovely trained nurse
and the activity coordinator Stacey.

Our Mom lived in the Loweswater Unit at Lakeview for the last 18 months of her life. Mom was very happy there and very well cared for. We found all the staff to be very conscientious and kind. Everyone from the nursing staff to carers to reminiscence managers to cleaning staff to admin and reception
all displayed acts of kindness and consideration to Mom and ourselves. Mom was always well presented and in her own co-ordinated clothes - even if she couldn't get out of bed when she was not feeling too good. There were many activities and treats, and we have many photos and videos of Mom enjoying herself or having a little treat - even meeting a donkey! On the days we couldn't visit, whenever possible the staff made sure we were able to video call with Mom. We could not wish for a better place for Mom to spend the last period of her life, and we will always be grateful to all the staff at Lakeview, and Loweswater in particular, for everything they did for her and for us.
Reply from Gina Cirino, Senior Operations Manager at Lakeview Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to leave such a heartfelt review. It means a great deal to all of us at Lakeview, and especially to the team on Loweswater. We are truly touched by your kind words about our staff. Providing compassionate, dignified care and creating meaningful moments for our residents and their families is at the heart of everything we do, so it is wonderful to hear how much those moments meant to you and your Mom.
Thank you also for recognising the efforts of every department within the home. It takes a whole team working together to create a warm and supportive environment, and your appreciation will mean so much to everyone.
It was a privilege to care for your Mom and to get to know your family over the last 18 months. We are deeply grateful for the trust you placed in us, and we will always remember her fondly.

I have found the care home to be outstanding. Staff are very friendly and helpful and look after my partner really well. The reception staff are also very friendly. The home is her home and she's treated like it is her home and not a resident.

My mom has recently become a resident at Lake View and is living in the Keswick Unit.
We live abroad so for my mom's care we solely rely on the staff at Lake View to take care of mom's every needs. We have regular updates about mom and feel that we are well informed.
When we visited for the first
time this December we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and attentive to mom's needs. This is a great relief for us, giving us peace of mind.
We also spoke to other families who said the care is great and we have nothing to worry about.
The home looks clean, tidy and welcoming.
Thank you to the staff at Lake View for all the work that you do to help residents feel comfortable.
Reply from Sherise Osbourne, Care Home Manager at Lakeview Care HomeThank you so much, for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and reassuring review.

The Manager and all the staff at Lakeview Care Home are exemplary. They went above and beyond to grant my Mom's last dying wish, which was to hold my Dad's hand. The Manager did everything she could to make sure my Mom was able to stay at the home with Dad (who is a resident) when she was discharged
from the hospital. Mom was given a beautiful room which overlooked all the Autumn trees to help her relax and be calm. Additional comfy chairs, a camp bed, refreshments and a family room were provided to us so we were looked after and could be with her in her final days. All the staff were very dignified, helpful and supportive to Mum and made sure she had whatever she needed and was comfortable. The nurses were supportive and prepared her through her final stages. As soon as Mom was settled, the staff brought Dad to her so they could hold hands and be together. A precious last gift given by all the staff at Lakeview to Mom and Dad. We are eternally thankful to you all.

My parents have used facilities in both residential and dementia nursing care here, over the last 4 years. Sadly my dad (94) passed away in August last year but the care and compassion of staff at that time was exemplary. My Mom (92) has dementia and has been bed bound for 3 years. The care again, is
excellent. Whenever I visit she is clean and comfortable. Her skin which could easily break down due to lack of movement is well cared for, which is a testament to the staff who ensure she is repositioned regularly. The unit is well managed and I am kept informed of any changes as well as contacted regularly to ensure that I have no concerns. However, any time I have a query/question, I can either call or email and a response is always promptly received. Staff are very caring and pleasant - managers, nurses, carers and reception staff and I am happy with my choice as I feel confident in the care Mom receives.

Since my husband has been in Lakeview his care has been excellent. Unfortunately he has deteriorated quite rapidly but they have found solutions at each stage. The staff are extremely caring and attentive to the moods of the residents and I think this has been paramount to my husband settling down so
quickly I have witnessed how he responds to the staff. I would recommend Lakeview if I was asked as my experience has been so positive.

My mom was on Ullswater for almost a year before she died in November 24. Felt she was badly neglected health wise and the care she received. She was kept in bed for long periods of time with very little interaction with staff. Reported the home to the care quality commission.
Reply from Sherise Osbourne, Care Home Manager at Lakeview Care HomeWe were sorry to hear of your concerns regarding the care of your loved one during their stay on Ullswater Unit. At the time of your loved one's stay, we did receive correspondence from the Care Quality Commission in relation to the concerns you raised. However, a full investigation was conducted, and the Care Quality Commission closed the matter with no further action. Whilst this confirms that the care we provide meets the regulatory standards set out by the Care Quality Commission, our team remains committed to delivering kind, respectful, and person-centred care at all times.

(1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 151 registered maximum number of service users is 30.2, which has been reached with 42 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
