As a leading provider of nursing care for elderly people with dementia, complex dementia, stroke, progressive neurological illnesses and enduring mental health needs. The home provides bespoke enablement care for people with a variety of shorter-term needs as well as long-term nursing care.

At Lakeview Care Home, they have the expertise and trained staff available to provide enablement health beds to people needing short-term support. These transitional placements in to the caring and secure environment of a specialist care facility have proved to be very successful with NHS partners and warmly received by short stay residents.

Working in partnership with local Trusts, they provide a number of enablement health beds for elderly residents across a number of scenarios, including:

Elderly people who are ready for discharge but are awaiting a full social services package to be put in place before going.

Elderly people who are on the road to full recovery but need some additional physiotherapy and/or occupational therapy support on a short-term basis to rebuild confidence and skills before going home.

Elderly people who require a long-term placement who can be cared for in an enablement health bed, rather than block a badly needed NHS bed, while their permanent placement is being finalised

Their service includes providing nursing care for people with complex dementias, those who have had strokes or are dealing with progressive neurological illnesses and also palliative care for residents who are reaching the end of their life.

By providing their nursing service from within the Lakeview Care Home complex, staff are able to provide a clear pathway to/from specialist complex dementia or residential, respite and enablement services. Residents can step up/step down as required rather than having to transfer to an alternative health or care setting.

Fantastic time with my husband, other residents and the wonderful staff.
The kitchen staff excelled themselves with a lovely meal - even providing me with a vegan dinner - so tasty.
The residents were all helped to eat it if they needed help (as usual). Really wanted to express my admiration and
thanks.

My father came in to care in Keswick Ward directly after an eight-week stay in Burton hospital for an assessment bed, due to being unable to return home due to a sudden decline in his health and his dementia worsening with subsequent challenging behaviour. The experience has been very traumatic for
us as a family, especially dad being a 45-minute drive away from us, however in the last three weeks that he has remained under their care the staff have all been amazing. The staff are incredibly understanding and have so much patience. He now has 24-hour one to one care on the ward and we are absolutely overjoyed with the quality of this, so much to the point of us now wishing him to stay with them permanently as we have so much faith in them. They not only look after dad but also support us as a family. Dad has been in previous nursing homes for respite but nothing compares to Keswick ward, they treat residents with dignity, the food is fresh every day, Dad is always clean and the care is simply the best.

My husband was transferred from New Cross to Derwent, the challenging behaviour unit, in order to be assessed for CHC funding. Sadly my husband died yesterday. I have nothing but admiration for the staff on this unit. Their handling of residents who have the most challenging behaviour was exemplary.

They cared for my husband. They were kind and sensitive and they were thoughtful towards me too.
I spent approximately 7 hours every day with my husband. For the last five days, I spent night and day there, never going home. I couldn't have asked for better care. They made me feel like one of their family. It was the best experience I could have had under the circumstances.
My husband has gone, but he was very much loved and he had excellent care by the staff.

We are exceptionally grateful and pleased for the outstanding care that has been given to our dad since his transfer to Lakeview was made in September 2022. Following the painful decision made to place dad in care in April this year, this is the first time that we have been reassured and happy with
the care given to dad and his fellow residents. The staff are friendly, and engaging and treat the residents with respect whilst ensuring that his ongoing health needs are being met. We are contacted regularly with updates in between our visits. Whilst placing any loved one into care is a heartbreaking experience, you can be reassured that their safety and well-being remain at the forefront of their amazing staff. The gardens are beautiful and the activity team always aim to involve residents as best as feasibly possible. Thank you so much for making this painful experience easier than it has been of late. You are all truly amazing and respected for the care you offer.

Just wanted to say how grateful we all are, for the care my father-in-law has received on Kendall Ward.
It is a clean, colourful, and happy environment with daily activities.
Everyone has been fantastic, patient and kind, engaging and helpful, and understanding of his individual needs.
Particular
thanks to all the staff for what they bring to the residents on Kendall Ward, in what can be very challenging circumstances.
You should all be very proud of the care you give!
Thanks to the team for their support and help, in trying to navigate the system.
I would give you all a pay rise if I could!

My husband has been at the Lakes since 28th March and what a difference we have seen in him. He is happy, very clean and has his own clothes on which we did not have at his other homes. They do more activities. We have had videos of my husband dancing and walking in the garden. Also, we get a lot more
information on what's going on a great big thank you to all the staff.

I have visited this care home on a number of occasions and only have positive words to say. All of the staff that work across the care home are extremely friendly and knowledgeable and the high level of care for each individual resident is clearly on display. Furthermore, the facilities are modern and
the health and safety procedures taken by the care home to attempt to prevent Covid-19 infection have been and continue to be brilliant. I would highly recommend this care home to all.

Review of care my mum received on Buttermede over the last few years, especially since being in the care of one carer in particular.

Mum's carer has gone beyond the duties of caring for my mum especially during the last few months of Mum's life. She has been consistently happy to allow me and my

family to receive video calls so I could see Mum every week since her taking a turn for the worst in April. She has talked to Mum and I know she was very close to her. Thank you, to Mum's carer and the team for making Mum's last few weeks bearable for her and of course for me. I do not know what the care home would do without someone like her and I think she should be recognised as an outstanding member of your team. Please forward all our thanks to Buttermede and the staff on reception .

My husband went into Lakeview in January 2020 due to his deteriorating dementia condition. From the time he became a resident it was clear the care, love and understanding at this care home were first class.

We received constant updates about his condition throughout the pandemic, obviously due

to not being able to see him.

When he suddenly took a turn for the worst, the staff were incredible and although sadly he did not survive, the dignity in which they managed the situation was outstanding.

Cards, flowers and even contact now has been maintained showing me he wasn't just a resident he was cared for, loved and is now missed.

We will always be grateful.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.700)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.700) out of 10 for Lakeview Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 44 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.700 for Lakeview Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (400 Excellents x 5) + (88 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 513 Ratings = 4.7
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lakeview Care Home is based on 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 151 registered maximum number of service users is 30.2, which has been reached with 42 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
