As a leading provider of nursing care for elderly people with dementia, complex dementia, stroke, progressive neurological illnesses and enduring mental health needs. The home provides bespoke enablement care for people with a variety of shorter-term needs as well as long-term nursing care.

At Lakeview Care Home, they have the expertise and trained staff available to provide enablement health beds to people needing short-term support. These transitional placements in to the caring and secure environment of a specialist care facility have proved to be very successful with NHS partners and warmly received by short stay residents.

Working in partnership with local Trusts, they provide a number of enablement health beds for elderly residents across a number of scenarios, including:

Elderly people who are ready for discharge but are awaiting a full social services package to be put in place before going.

Elderly people who are on the road to full recovery but need some additional physiotherapy and/or occupational therapy support on a short-term basis to rebuild confidence and skills before going home.

Elderly people who require a long-term placement who can be cared for in an enablement health bed, rather than block a badly needed NHS bed, while their permanent placement is being finalised

Their service includes providing nursing care for people with complex dementias, those who have had strokes or are dealing with progressive neurological illnesses and also palliative care for residents who are reaching the end of their life.

By providing their nursing service from within the Lakeview Care Home complex, staff are able to provide a clear pathway to/from specialist complex dementia or residential, respite and enablement services. Residents can step up/step down as required rather than having to transfer to an alternative health or care setting.

Firstly, I must state that this review is written against the difficult background of COVID. I do feel that communication from the management team could be improved upon. However, the front line team show my mm and abundance of care each and every hour of each and every day. It has been difficult for
my family to hand over the care of the matriarch of our household into the care of a third party. The care that Mom is receiving is above and beyond what we could ever have hoped for. I have nothing but gratitude for each and every one of the front line team.
Reply from Tracy Parsons, Care Home Manager at Lakeview Care HomeThank you for your review and the honest feedback in your comments. We do recognise the significant responsibility we have when a family places their loved one in our care and I am grateful for your positive feedback, which I will share with the team. The Coronavirus Pandemic has placed significant strains across all aspects of our services, at times this has affected our communication and I am sorry that this fell below expectations

My husband has been at the Lakeview Care Home since February and he has settled really well. He has dementia and that gives me piece of mind knowing he is being cared for by the caring and friendly staff. We have also been able to FaceTime him most days, which during lockdown, was invaluable to me.
Reply from Tracy Parsons, Care Home Manager at Lakeview Care HomeThank you for taking the time to offer your feedback on Lakeview and we will pass on your kind words to the team.

Mom has been at Lakeview since January of this year. Since she has been there, staff have gone out of their way to keep us updated with Mom and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. They have looked after her really well and can tell from talking to them that they care a lot for Mom. I am so
grateful for everything they are doing for Mom and they treat her with dignity and respect. There was an incident involving Mom and the way the staff kept us informed, has been second to none and, even during the visit today reassured us that everything is being done and apologised loads. I am so thankful to each and every one of them and am so happy that Mom is there with people who really care about her. In my eyes, they are all angels and I will never be able to show or tell them how grateful I am for them for looking after someone so precious so compassionately.
Reply from Tracy Parsons, Care Home Manager at Lakeview Care HomeThank you so much for your kind words, we are so pleased we were able to provide the high level of care to Mum that you have mentioned. We are very grateful for the patience and understanding from families over this last year and any recognition of the hard work undertaken by the team is always a great boost.

My dad has been resident at Lakeview for 2 years now. He settled in straight away and his care has been excellent. The staff are always professional, friendly and caring. Last year was a difficult year for the family not being able to see Dad. Window visits were lovely but not the same and we missed
him terribly but the staff kept us informed every step of the way.
My family would like to thank all the team on Kirkby unit for everything they do for Dad.
Reply from Tracy Parsons, Care Home Manager at Lakeview Care HomeThank you for your kind words, we are so proud of all our staff who have shown such tireless dedication in caring for our residents. We will pass on your lovely comments to the staff on Kirkby Unit.

My father received excellent care and attention on Buttermere Unit. He was admitted for enablement but his health declined due to a pre-existing condition.
His care and attention from all staff was seamless from enablement to the palliative care that he needed at the end of his life. All staff were
also kind, caring and supportive to me and my family at that very difficult time.

Both Aunt and Uncle have resided at Lakeview. Each time we approached Lakeview regarding their entry we were met with nothing but help, friendliness and professional treatment. Currently, they have been all of the above and more in the care of my Aunt - first class!

My mother has been a resident at Lakeview for several years now after suffering a stroke which left her unable to care for herself and needing constant care.

Right from my first enquiry at the home to see if she could become a resident, and ever since, she (and I) have always received excellent

care and attention from the friendly and devoted staff. I always feel so lucky that we were able to get her into Lakeview when you read the terrible stories of conditions at some other homes. Although I regularly visit my mother, I never have to worry about her when I am not there as I know she is being well cared for and that Lakeview will contact me if there are ever any concerns.

I would definitely recommend Lakeview to anyone with a relative who needs similar care or treatment.

My husband has been a resident since April 2018 and he has had exceptional care. The staff are wonderful and go out of their way to ensure the health and welfare of him. He is taken out for walks and joins in the activities. You don't know how much I appreciate the care and help the carers have been,
it really puts my mind at rest to know that he is safe and cared for.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.700)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.700) out of 10 for Lakeview Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 44 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.700 for Lakeview Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (400 Excellents x 5) + (88 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 513 Ratings = 4.7
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lakeview Care Home is based on 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 151 registered maximum number of service users is 30.2, which has been reached with 42 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
