My visit to a friend was a reassuring experience. I was welcomed by friendly staff and shown to the residents' room. The overall feeling was of a clean, caring and well-staffed care home. When I asked about my friend's care my questions were answered clearly and with compassion. I am so pleased he is being cared for at Trentham House. Thank you.

Trentham care home is ideally situated with lovely outside areas. The ensuite room is a good size with nice furniture. The room is, however, looking a little worn and could do with basic painting and decorating. The permanent staff are professional, helpful and friendly. The family are contacted with updates on Mum and if she is injured or sick. We don't think the food is always appropriate for the elderly.

Reply from Teresa Moore, Home Manager at Trentham House Care Home

Trentham House is really pleased you enjoy the outdoor area whilst visiting your mum. We will feedback on your kind comments about the care staff which is greatly appreciated. We will also speak to the catering manager to liaise with you and your mum about your mum's preferences. Thank you so much...

Mum was admitted to Trentham House care home at the start of the first lockdown (pandemic). The family couldn't accompany Mum - I stood on the drive of the care home to wave to her in the ambulance. Mum was confused and felt abandoned by her family. I worried so much, it was heartbreaking. The staff made Mum welcome immediately, putting her at ease, facilitating phone contact and later, pod contact, during the lockdown. Since I've visited inside, I cannot praise the staff enough for their dedication, hard work under extreme circumstances, attention to detail, care, nursing care and activities.

My mum was transferred from hospital to Trentham House. I was so impressed on my arrival, at the security and cleanliness, which is foremost when visitors arrive. The room, food and care Mum is receiving is excellent. I have total peace of mind that she is residing there, as I live over 100 miles away. The staff were welcoming and interested in Mum's situation and care. Mum is very contented.

My wife transferred to Trentham House Care Home in October 2020 and I have nothing but praise and admiration for the staff albeit through covid and periods of no visiting. I visit mostly around lunchtime and the food always looks appetising with choices for those able to make it. The puddings in particular seem popular with most of the residents. My wife was often aggressive and agitated in her previous care home but since being at Trentham House Care Home has settled into a contented mode and although she is unable to express her feelings she seems happy. I have no doubt this is due to the care of the staff and the way they deal with issues. If I do have any issues it is easy to raise them and they are always dealt with in a professional manner. I don’t get to see much of the activities but do know that there are regular events with entertainers etc for those that want it. I suppose they could always do more and I would like them to be taken outdoors more, good for them and enjoyable too. Overall very happy.

My mum spent 18 months at Trentham House Care Home and passed away here (as was our wishes) on the 12th June 2022. We as a family (heartbroken) couldn't have asked for better care for our beautiful wonderful mum. The staff were amazing throughout our journey of Mum's terrible dementia so very supportive and respectful every step of the way, up to her last seconds and beyond. We are so very very grateful to every member of staff. We had a much easier journey because of Trentham House Care Home. So a million thanks to you all.

The fact our Mum has been a resident since 2019, is a testament to the excellent care Trentham house provides, we wouldn’t want her to be anywhere else. There is a real family feel around the home, I see that, particularly in Beech unit where my Mum lives. The staff treat the residents as individuals, they take the time to get to know them and learn their particular traits. Nursing and care levels are excellent which is important but so is the dignity and respect the residents are treated with. If we have had any issues, we have always found an open door and a listening ear in the unit or management office. Dementia is a complex and difficult journey for all involved to navigate, but with the expert help, support and a fair amount of tears mixed with an equal amount of laughter at times, our Mum is very well cared for and we feel fully supported by all the staff. Thank you to all the wonderful, professional staff you deserve much more recognition than you get.

Trentham House isn't the most luxurious care home, but it certainly does what it says on the tin and I can't praise highly enough the wonderful team there. My mum was transferred to Trentham House at the end of August. On the day she arrived, she was unhappy and feeling abandoned, but thanks to the kindness and care of an agency nurse, she immediately started to feel better. Mum settled in well and slowly improved, but in mid-September, her health took a turn for the worse and we knew she was dying. The kindness and care given in her last weeks and days was wonderful. We had regular updates, nothing but helpfulness when we came to visit and as we lived 20 miles away, and weren't able to be with her when she finally passed, one of the team was with her. When we arrived, her room had been turned into a peaceful shrine to share our last moments with her, with soft classical music playing. We will be forever grateful to all the staff.

I arrived at Trentham House to recover from spinal surgery, obviously, this was a completely new experience, but I shouldn't have had any concerns as I was made very welcome. All the staff have been kind and attentive to my not inconsiderable needs. I was, for some time, not very mobile but with their care and consideration, my condition has vastly improved. I expect to be allowed home in the next few days.

My Dad was transferred to Trentham House after spending 4 weeks in hospital and 7 weeks in another nursing home in an assessment bed. This was a very difficult time for my Dad, my mum and myself to adjust to. He just didn't settle in the hospital or the assessment bed at all and missed us so much. Now he is in Trentham, he is a different person, he loves his room (which is so lovely, very clean, very spacious and has its own large bathroom) we all couldn't thank the staff enough for all the care they give to my dad. Their patience and their time to sit and talk to Dad. They have made every effort possible to make my dad's life more comfortable and relaxed. The staff are second to none and have made this difficult time for us so much easier to cope with especially my elderly mum who they talk to on the phone every day and keep her updated with how Dad is. We both can't thank Trentham enough for everything they do and nothing is too much trouble for them.

My Step-Mother was in the home for about 18 months, during which time she was cared for by a very friendly, loving dedicated staff. The home was very clean (no odours), offered a good choice of food and there was always a pleasant atmosphere. I felt she was safe and we will never be able to thank them enough for what they did.

I am most grateful for the care given to my great-aunt during the last weeks of her life. It was very good, humane and done with respect. I am also grateful for the support received personally by the nurse in charge. Not being in the UK in this difficult situation was not easy, but the warm exchanges we had made all the differences and helped me a lot. Thank you again. And yes I will no doubt recommend Trentham House Care Home.

My mother suffered from dementia and cancer and came to a stage where she needed to reside at Trentham Care Home. In a very short time of her arriving the staff made every effort to accommodate her needs and our wishes for her. They were beyond kind to her and to us. Especially in her last days, they all treated her with extreme dignity and care. I shall always be very grateful for that, as I know would she. Thank you.

Review from Gillian A (Sister of Resident) published on 19 February 2020 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Since February 2019, my sister has needed 24-hour nursing care. After searching the Stoke on Trent area extensively and not finding a suitable home (for various reasons), thank goodness I found Trentham House Care Home which provides excellent care, is spotlessly clean with no unpleasant odours. Myself and my sisters' family visit daily so I can say that all staff and carers are all very caring, very professional and they take each individuals personalities and needs into account when looking after the residents. The residents are treated with dignity, empathy and patience. Support and encouragement is provided where and when necessary. Whatever I have requested for my sisters care, in addition to the daily routine care, the home has done their utmost to meet that request. Whenever I leave my sister, I feel reassured that she will be looked after well. The food is of an excellent standard too. I can honestly recommend Trentham Care Home.
