Galanos House

I cannot thank the staff and management at Galanos House enough, they have been so supportive, sympathetic, understanding and caring towards my father who is a resident and has dementia. The activities team does wonders to keep him stimulated and active, the social media page keeps you updated with what activities and events are taking place at the home, and there is a positive social atmosphere which Dad engages with, it is a special place run by special people.

The resident always looks clean and well cared for when I visit. The atmosphere is very pleasant, usually things going on. I cannot comment on entertainment as I’ve not seen it and the resident is not able to talk well enough to describe. Staff friendly and communicative.

Mum's room is kept clean and the laundry service is wonderful. She is supported on hospital appointments and always included in activities provided at the home by regular invitations to become involved by the staff. I have seen her mental well-being improve 100% due to this socialisation and her needs are met with respect and understanding.

The care is out of this world and there’s so much for the residents to do. The community are brought into the food with events and a coffee shop.

I have been absolutely delighted with the care offered to my mum by Galanos House. My mum is a resident in the dementia unit. She is cared for beautifully. Mum enjoys participating in the wide range of activities and trips out. She particularly likes having the company of others and the stimulation of physical activity and fun. The staff are brilliant and the atmosphere in the home always positive and supportive.

My aunt has been a resident of Galanos House for 4 years. She has received an unprecedented level of care from all the staff especially considering her disabilities. Her room and facilities have been adapted to ensure she can be as independent as possible whilst the nursing staff have also tendered to her every medical need. I and her family cannot praise the home enough. There is stability in the home through guidance from an experienced and long-serving senior management team which enables it to be run efficiently and effectively. The caring and supportive attitude from all levels of staff is reflected and experienced not only by the residents but by myself and her family. We are always kept up to date with regard to my aunt's health, wellbeing and needs and it is lovely to know that she is in a safe, clean and supportive environment. It really is home to her. I believe she is in one of the best care homes in the country thanks to everyone involved.

I found the staff at the meeting very helpful. They wanted to know what we thought about all aspects of Galanos House Care Home. Any questions we asked they answered and gave good reasons as to why things are done a certain way. I find all residents are treated with great patience and care and feel my mother is well looked after and I have great gratitude to know she is safe and being so well cared for.

I am most impressed with Galanos House though, and would recommend it to others.

In my experience, Poppy Lodge is beyond comparison in the care and support it offers residents and their families, it has given us peace of mind knowing that Mum is cared for in a lovely environment.

One disappointment has been the rescheduling of the sessions from fortnightly to monthly, which means that on several months in the future they will clash with another activity for me, which takes place on the alternate week to sporting memories. As a result, I shall miss sessions.

The décor and amenities encapsulate the warm feel of the place, after all it's home so somewhere to be comfortable and happy as we would all want to be in our latter years.

The environment is very relaxed and respectful.

Consistently brings new innovations to the care of veterans and their families. All residents/beneficiaries are given the chance to be as involved as they wish in countless activities every day; from learning a language to taking part in international competitions. Nothing is beyond the scope of this wonderful home.

Have found that the care received is of a good standard and our relative always appears clean and well cared for. Relative's room is always clean and tidy. Laundry is always returned promptly and of a good standard. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Would like more communication from senior management.

Very happy with the level of care. The staff are very helpful, courteous and genuinely caring of the residents. It's reassuring for the family members to know that the resident is being looked after, has regular good quality meals and is treated with dignity.

My mother has been a resident at Poppy Lodge, Galanos House for nearly three years and we are so pleased with how well she has settled. The atmosphere at the home is excellent and all the staff make everyone feel welcome and cared for at all times. We all feel so confident in the care that my mother receives. Lots of activities and things to do make the days so interesting. We could not be happier.

Lovely care home and the wonderful staff take great care of my relative. They know the residents well, know their foibles and are quick to let us know of any changes in their condition. The facilities are excellent and the activities plentiful and varied. Couldn't recommend it enough.

My brother has been a resident at Galanos House since 2006. Throughout this period, I have been immensely impressed with every aspect of the care he has received. In particular, I have valued the various friendly personal contacts I have had with the staff at every level. I greatly admired the range of activities which continued to operate during the difficult days of the 'lockdown'.
