My dad was in Valley Lodge and I was very happy with the care he got. He was on end of life. Everyone was so nice, I was kept up to date with everything.

My Grandad was only under the care at Valley Lodge for a week, but I can't fault them one little bit. The care staff was lovely and so supportive and always had Grandad's best interests. All Covid rules and regulations were adhered to. Would recommend Valley Lodge to any family and friends. Thank you for your amazing staff for making his last week comfortable.

My grandad came in December 2020 as he was extremely confused and putting himself in danger. Since being here he has become more aware of his surroundings and isn't confused. He enjoys spending time with other residents and activities take him out on day trips. He says the meals are always nice and care staff are always friendly and always offer a helping hand.

My mother has settled well at Valley Lodge. She seems very content and is always complimentary about the food and says how kind the staff are. She always appears well-groomed and in clean clothes. I have not been able to visit her room because of restricted visiting hours due to Covid-19.

Although I have only been able to visit my mother once a week due to Covid-19, I have found the staff always to be really friendly. Mum mum, even though she suffers from dementia, always says she is looked after really well. She seems extremely happy which is reassuring.

Coronavirus has created difficulties with visiting but the staff has clearly worked extremely hard to ensure we can still visit our relatives. The staff are always very welcoming and cheerful and show a lot of care for the residents.

I have found the staff at the home to be professional, caring and compassionate. My husband has advanced dementia together with other complex medical needs, and the standard of nursing and care provided by the home's nursing team is first-class.

My parents came into Valley Lodge on the 10th January 2019 and form the day they arrived the staff have been superb! They are all kind, respectful, good humoured, patient and loving. The extra care unit upstairs is very nice, though the downstairs is not as appealing. This is a good care home, a little expensive with first-class carers.

Overall Experience

I have been a daily visitor to Valley Lodge for the past 2 months. During that time I have experienced a welcoming, friendly care home with a happy atmosphere. Staff are kind, patient and supportive, always willing to listen to concerns which may be raised. A wide range of entertainment is provided and the activity co-ordinator is pro-active, efficient, interacting well with residents and visitors alike.

Bedrooms are always warm and clean, clothing and bedding regularly laundered. Residents' personal hygiene is maintained with dignity.

I have to mark down on safety and security due to apparent low staffing levels, however more recently I have noticed that this issue is now being addressed by the employment of agency staff. I am unable to comment on the management rating as I have had no reason/opportunity to interact with them to date.

In 2017 I was asked to be the second power of attorney for my aunt. When we made the documents at the solicitors I never expected to have to step in and help aunty sort out her day to day and longer term living etcetera. Valley Lodge has been amazing, I had to find accommodation for aunty quickly but at the same time, it had to be suitable for her long-term needs. As soon as we saw round Valley Lodge I was convinced it was the right place for aunty to live. The Valley Lodge team have been superb and I would have no problem in recommending them to anyone.

Mum has been a resident of Valley Lodge, needing full nursing care, for three years.
We have been grateful for flexible visiting times and for the consistent caring, sensitive attitude from all the staff, whether they are clinical, care, catering, domestic or administrative. They all do their best to ensure Mums needs are met. Even though Mums ability to communicate is very limited by her dementia. Liason with local GP Services means her clinical needs are kept under frequent review which is reflected in her care planning.

The rooms are bright, well decorated, equipped and a good size, with clear attention to safety and security. We're very pleased we chose Valley Lodge.

All the staff are friendly and give lovely care to my mum. However, turnover of staff is of a concern.

There seems to be no system for ensuring hearing aids are looked after. Despite my best efforts over the last 2 years, three hearing aids have gone missing. I have now given up on this issue and my mum can long hear me talking to her. (They are both £1000 each to the NHS). This issue needs addressing PLEASE!

I am well looked after. Food is good. Staff very friendly and caring.

The downside is that many residents are extremely noisy. Not enough toilet/bathroom facilities - one has been closed for months.

I am Rebecca and am delighted to be the manager of Valley Lodge.

I am a registered nurse and like nothing more than getting stuck into care.

I believe that one of my main roles as a manger is to invest in the staff so that they are confident and competent in their role. By doing this, the staff are then able to deliver outstanding care to our residents.

I also believe that we are here to live every day to the full and so this is the ethos of the home.

When I am not at work I have 3 fabulous daughters and 3 dogs (plus assortment of other animals!) who I love to walk in the local woodland.

Hi, I’m Phoebe! I absolutely love having a good chat and getting to know the families and individuals that give us a ring. My goal is to make the process of finding the right home as easy and reassuring as possible.

This is something close to my heart — I’ve had two of my own family members stay within our group, so I truly understand how important it is to feel confident and comfortable in your choice.

If you call us during the week, chances are you’ll get me on the other end of the phone. I’m always happy to answer any questions you have — and if I don’t know the answer right away, I’ll make it my mission to find out for you. I’ll be here for you every step of the way, making sure you feel supported, listened to, and at ease.
