My mum needed short term care due to a broken leg. Everyone at the home has been lovely and caring.
Mum was upset on the first day but was soon put at ease and settled quite quickly.

As always the home was clean. The person I was visiting looked clean and well. The staff were their usual friendly selves. I was there during lunch and the food looked appetising and adequate portion size. I have had a meal before and it has been better than a lot of meals I have had in various eating
places.

The staff and management are all very kind and caring, always listen to what relatives ask about loved ones and take notice of any information that is offered to them with the care of their relative because we know our loved ones and what they need. This is a good home for respite as well.

Introducing Shini Jose, Home Manager at Victoria Park, Ilkeston


What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“To me, kind care means being willing to put the needs of others first and treating them with kindness, compassion, dignity and respect.”


As a registered nurse with continuing health care assessor experience, Shini has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for residents.


Talking about her decision to work in the care sector, Shini said:


“I love caring, as caring for others is incredibly rewarding and I can positively influence the lives of other people”.


As Home Manager for Victoria Park, Shini closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Shini remarked:


“I like making connections with people and I enjoy being part of the team, and I like being able to make a positive influence and help make people feel happy and safe. I get called "Smiley" instead of Shini, as people seem to always remember my smiley face rather than my name!”


Outside of work, Shini enjoys reading and is trained in Indian classical dances.
