My mother-in-law has been at Victoria Park for 9 months, and during that time, I have seen nothing but care and concern from the staff. She is treated with respect at all times, even though she can be a little confused much of the time. The meals are lovely and varied, and she is given as much time
as she needs to eat them. All the staff are cheerful and friendly with the residents, and her face lights up when they wave from the other side of the living room if they are going through. A lovely home and marvellous staff. I am very happy with Victoria Park.

I was told the place was fantastic by the manager. She told me she'd got a first class chef within less than 24 hours. My mother was on the phone crying. I attended the care home to find this fantastic cook couldn't even poach your egg. The place is an absolute disgrace and I would not let a dog stop
in it. The Manager, is a first class liar don't put any member of your family in this place if you care about them and I am telling you the truth you are more than welcome to contact me. My mother was taken out the place as soon as possible and I care for her at home.

I'm so grateful for the staff at this care home. They are friendly, approachable, and genuinely compassionate. From the start, they made sure to keep us well-informed about everything and always greeted us with warmth and kindness. It's clear that they truly care about their residents, which made a
huge difference in my granddad's experience here. We've felt completely supported by the team every step of the way.
The cleanliness of the care home is also exceptional. Unlike other places we've seen, there's no unpleasant smell, and the common areas are always tidy and well-kept. My granddad was always well cared for - he was clean, shaved, and bathed regularly.
I would recommend this care home to anyone.
A huge thank you to all the staff for making my Grandad's last few weeks as pleasurably as they could be.

My dad was in Victoria Park Nursing home from January 2025 until his passing in March 2025 .During his time there he was treated with the utmost respect care and kindness from everyone he was in contact with. Although not a ultra modern establishment it was spotless and comfortable and warm and the
staff were brilliant with both dad and the whole family (so wonderful the day he passed away ) I would recommend it to anyone thank you for looking after him

I just want to say a massive thank you to all the staff and nurses that took care of my father in law. I've been a carer for over 20 yrs and to all the working at Victoria Park care home are just all Amazing, friendly and give care with such dignity. Gave 1 star on food and drink (as he wasn't eating).

From the minute my husband was taken into the home he was treated fantastically by every member of management and staff. He was looked after and treated with respect and had laughter with the care staff, all the family were looked after and everything was explained to us. The day he passed away he was
made comfortable and spoken to gently and we were looked after. Overall experience was outstanding.

I think all the staff are lovely and very caring. My husband is being cared for extremely well, and he is happy here. I could never have the patience and dedication required to work in a care home. It must take a special kind of person, which, unfortunately, I am not. I never thought he would settle

Both my mother-in-law and father-in-law reside at this facility. The care they receive is excellent and the staff when available are very attentive. On occasion, they get extremely busy and could do with a float shift to help out during the busy times of the day.

Our family were told my mum couldn't be treated anymore, she was on end-of-life care. We started, reluctantly, to look for a care home. As soon as I spoke on the phone to one of the nurses and went to visit, we had found the right place. It was a clean and happy place to be and visit. They were kind

Hi, having worked in the care profession for thirty years myself, I have experienced good and bad when it comes to homes for the elderly - Victoria Court Care Home, Ilkeston, deserves credit, it doesn’t have a clinical or depressing feel to it. The staff are warm but professional and the ones I've met
so far, during my uncle's respite, have been amazing and happy to help wherever they can. The room my uncle is staying in is lovely and very homely.
This place is an example of why people in this profession are worth so much more - by this I mean wages and recognition - thank you.

Introducing Shini Jose, Home Manager at Victoria Park, Ilkeston


What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“To me, kind care means being willing to put the needs of others first and treating them with kindness, compassion, dignity and respect.”


As a registered nurse with continuing health care assessor experience, Shini has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for residents.


Talking about her decision to work in the care sector, Shini said:


“I love caring, as caring for others is incredibly rewarding and I can positively influence the lives of other people”.


As Home Manager for Victoria Park, Shini closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Shini remarked:


“I like making connections with people and I enjoy being part of the team, and I like being able to make a positive influence and help make people feel happy and safe. I get called "Smiley" instead of Shini, as people seem to always remember my smiley face rather than my name!”


Outside of work, Shini enjoys reading and is trained in Indian classical dances.
