The Willows, Chesterfield

Dad urgently needed a care home for palliative care. The Willows care home were able to offer the care he needed and were happy for me to go and have a look around without giving them notice. Sadly Dad was only there for 3 days when he passed away in his sleep. Nothing was too much trouble, even providing cups of tea at 2 am while we stayed with Dad. The manager and team have been supportive and compassionate, dads care was their priority. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this care home.

I have been very impressed with Willows Care Home, especially with all the positive changes that the manager has made. It's a nice feeling seeing my Dad smiling when I visit rather than him upset or not wanting to be there. The staff there are doing a fantastic job and even from admin is easy to talk to and very helpful. The staff makes you feel welcome and that the residents are all being looked after professionally and being kept as entertained as possible.

Our Grandma went to stay at Willows in December 2020, due to no longer being able to live independently. We can't thank the staff enough for the love, care and compassion they showed her whilst she was with them and this was never more so apparent than when she was put on end of life care. When someone you love is leaving this world the most reassuring thing is knowing they are being cared for in the hours you aren't with them and we can't thank the staff enough for that reassurance. The staff were not only kind and compassionate towards our Grandma but towards me and my sister as well. All the staff were amazing, thank you.

All the staff have been wonderful, welcomed Mum with love, care and compassion; this has been extended to myself and the family. Mum is kept immaculately clean, attention paid to hair, nails and overall appearance. I am kept updated constantly on Mum's health, behaviour, appetite, likes and dislikes. The selection of food and drink is excellent. I am always made welcome to have meals with Mum. Mum has actually gained weight. Room is beautiful and is kept spotlessly clean.

My Mum has vascular dementia and I am very pleased with the level of care my Mum has received while living in the home. The staff are exceptional, from the nursing staff to the carers, they are kind and respectful to my mother and myself. We are kept informed of any changes that are happening to my mother's condition. Everybody I have met give 100%, and I am grateful and I will never forget them all for all the help and caring.

We as a family would never recommend this home to anyone suffering from dementia or needing nursing care. This home would do well to appoint a full-time manager to sort out its many problems.

While mum has been at The Willows mum has been happy to join in with many activities. All the staff are friendly, understanding and knowledgeable which gives me peace of mind. An excellent home for your loved one.

My aunt went into The Willows in January. Unfortunately for my aunt, it was for end of life care. I cannot praise the staff and manager highly enough. From the minute I came into contact with The Willows, all the staff where so friendly and caring - they did not mind how many times I rang. I visited the home which was bright and clean and comforting - the tea being served looked delicious and was home cooked and living in London it was a relief to know that my aunt was really well cared for at the end of her life. I am only sorry that my aunt did not get to spend any time at The Willows as I think she would have enjoyed it.

Overall, it is a fantastic place to put your loved one into. You know they are going to be looked after so well.

From the moment I entered The Willows 2 years ago, I knew it was the place I wanted mum to be. The manager then was very accommodating. Since her departure, I know there have been numerous managers and every one comes with new ideas. That is my reason for marking management as only satisfactory. Every member of staff work and pull together as a team and I cannot fault their patience, care and love they show.

As his health deteriorated, it was a comfort to me to know that he was always shown kindness and respect. He would have been especially pleased that he was always helped to look clean and smart.

Mum moved into The Willows about ten weeks ago and I cannot believe the difference that I have seen in her in that short space of time. Ten weeks ago here was a lady who was struggling to turn herself over in bed, needed 2 or 3 carers to help her move. Couldn't get to the loo, get up and move even small distances. Now, ten weeks later she is looking the best I've seen her look for a very long time. She has settled in really well with help from all the staff who have been nothing short of superb. Initially, mum spent all her time in her room and mostly laid on her bed. Ten weeks on after much encouragement from the staff she can get up on her own is able to walk using her frame and spends most of her time in the lounge. I know that she is in very safe hands and it has given me a peace of mind that I haven't had for a long long time. The staff are professional, genuine, caring people who care deeply about the people in their care. I cannot recommend The Willows highly enough. Thank you.

My Mum was discharged from hospital to The Willows towards the end of her life and, although she was only there for four days, she received excellent care and support from the staff. Although those working with her didn't know her, they made every effort to ensure that she was comfortable and treated with dignity. The staff were very kind and concerned to do their best for my Mum.

We felt that the staff communicated well amongst themselves, and all were aware of my Mum's circumstances - and they worked together to support both her and us. As a family, we are grateful that The Willows stepped-in and helped at a difficult time.

My husband has special nursing care, he is very weak and frail, but I found what I was looking for at The Willows, Chesterfield. I would value the nursing staff 100%. They are all dedicated to everything they have to do. He is in bed and has to be turned every 2 hours, its very hard work for them. The senior nurses who have been at The Willows for years see to his dressing on his legs. To watch the nurses, and care workers is upsetting as they have worked wonders for him. I cannot find words to say how special they are to me and I hope with all my heart that the same working staff with the high standards remain. To me, they are at the top tier. The Willows is a must, the bedrooms and clothes are due to the everlasting pride they have.

It was a very hard decision to come and view The Willows care home due to previous issues with the care provided, however we had heard that it was under new management and that the care home had made a dramatic change. We viewed The Willows and couldn't believe how much it had changed. The manager is very approachable and the home has a lovely warm and a friendly feel to it. The carers can't do enough for my granddad and his family and we are very happy with the care and support he needs and gets.

My mother has received care for the last two and a half years. This is a friendly home where the care has always been of the highest standard, there are regular activities, outings in the summer and to the local Christmas panto. The staff are wonderful and the home is clean, warm and provides good food. My mother recently passed away after a very short illness and the care and attention she received was first class.
