Since my mum moved into Ashby Court, which was December 2019, she was initially for respite care. After a fall at home, she lost her confidence and was unable to walk. Since day one she was welcomed into the home. The staff couldn't do enough for Mum, getting her back onto her feet and walking again with her frame, she is more like her old self, has made new friends and is enjoying getting her life back. She knows she only has to ring her call bell and somebody will answer, always with a smiling and friendly face and even a cup of tea. She joins in with all the different activities from painting, baking and even potted some plants. At the moment carers arrange Facetime with her family and even though it upsets her, she enjoys doing this. She has now made the decision to stay permanently at Ashby Court. She says it is her second home and it was the best decision she made to live there. The staff are friendly and welcoming and always around when needed.

In November 2019 my mother-in-law had a fall at home and fractured her left hip, went into hospital for two to three weeks, went home to her bungalow and had carers at home to begin with. But on Christmas Day we all sat down and made the decision for Mum to go to Ashby Court, initially for respite care but she loved it so much that she decided to stay permanently. She has made loads of friends and is now back on her feet and walking independently with her frame and loves joining in with all the activities. She always has a smile on her face, the staff are always smiling and friendly, offering you a drink when you come to visit. Mum can be a little fussy on what she likes to eat but the variety of food at Ashby Court is always delicious. She has her own little snack box in the lounge with her name on, which we fill up for her, even though she can have a snack in between meals anytime. Her appetite has increased and she has put on weight. She even has her budgie in her room, who is happily chirping away on a daily basis.

My aunt had been cared for at Ashby Court for the last three years of her life. She sadly died this month after suffering a stroke from which she did not recover. She decided herself when she was 90 that she would like to be looked after and really enjoyed her time at Ashby Court. Most importantly she felt safe and enjoyed eating her meals in the restaurant with other residents.

A Home within a Care Home.
From May 2017, Dad has since passed but mum is still with us in the nursing dementia unit. I can honestly say that I have never seen anything that concerned me - if I had/did I would speak out.

Why is Ashby Court a 'Home' within a Care Home? Briefly: Visiting is not restricted and always welcomed. The food they serve is really fresh as they understand a good diet is important to maintaining good health. Everything with the decor is 'researched' beforehand to 'achieve the best experience for the residents', there is nothing institutionalised as it is all so well thought out. Along with activities/events/trips, they will go beyond, like skype weddings and shopping gifts for residents who can't make the journey. The staff are a good team, aware for many residents it is their long term home where they can feel at ease, be treated with respect and retain individuality.

Two weeks respite for dad has put him back into a more positive mode, given him company, especially for meals. The staff have been caring, considerate and welcomed us all into being involved. They spoke to us as a family in a very friendly manner. Would not hesitate to recommend Ashby Court as the most professionally run home with a heart.

Mum moved into Ashby Court in 2015 and has thrived on their exceptional care. Everyone at the home works hard as a team member to look after residents and care for their individual needs. We have now moved home and during the time before we could relocate her to a suitable place near to where we now live, I have been really pleased with how happy mum has been. Her Ashby ‘family’ have been so kind and understand her complex needs and behaviours, they really do help families to cope with this chapter of their relative's life.

It is always a worry when you have someone so young who needs to have the care that your home provides. However, that worry has lessened by a huge degree as the care that my daughter has had has been wonderful. The staff are amazing with her and try to make her feel really at home and treat her more like a friend than a resident. I could not be happier with her care and she has settled into life here very well.

Ashby Court Care Home is clean. Staff are helpful, polite, willing and accommodating and all the staff always seem busy. A couple of personal items have gone missing (good quality t-shirt, an expensive pillow, small drinking mug, shower gel). Ashby Court Care Home has a quiet dignified atmosphere. There are ensuite rooms. It is expensive.

I cannot express my gratitude enough to the staff and management at Ashby Court.
I have found their care of my brother second to none.

Everyone associated with the care home continues to display high standards of care and compassion. They are all extremely friendly, approachable, kind and extremely professional. Since my aunt has been a resident at Ashby Court, she has received the best care I could wish for. She is happy and settled here. She is well fed and always clean. Although she suffers from dementia, she smiles and chats in her own way with her carers.

I would recommend Ashby Court to anyone seeking a care home in the area.

Sadly my mum passed away on 1st August 2017. She spent three years at Ashby Court. The staff were friendly, very welcoming and answered any questions we may have had.
During the last nine days of my mum's life, the support we received from the staff was fantastic. They couldn't do enough for us and allowed us to remain with my mum the whole time.
They made sure Mum was comfortable and checked in on us regularly to ask if we needed anything.

Truly wonderful caring people who went above and beyond their job description.

My husband was in Ashby Court Care Home from May 2015 until he died on the 22nd March 2017. He was treated extremely well during that time. The carers showed a great understanding of his condition. He had progressive Alzheimer's disease, a condition hard to handle but the staff were calm and always treated him with respect and in a most patient and dignified way. It was very much appreciated how relatives and friends were made to feel at 'home'. My sons and I were kept informed of any development in my husband's condition and called us when necessary. The staff showed true sympathy and care which gave us much comfort throughout a long, hard journey. Many thanks to all.
