Not been here very long, came from hospital. Have found staff, care and communication excellent. Very caring and attentive staff who take time to spend with Mum. Mum has settled in well and we feel assured she is being well looked after.
Very good care and very well looked after. Everyone is very kind and nothing is too much trouble.
Both my family and I have found the level of care is extremely good. Communication between staff and myself with regard to my husband's needs, health and care is very good. The staff are friendly and interact well with residents and visitors. There is good communication between management and staff which shows in the caring way the home is run. I am happy with the level of care and respect given to my husband. He is happy and settled.
I would definitely recommend this home.
It was an extremely difficult time for all of us but we went home every evening knowing he was receiving the best care.
Care received is excellent and staff take lots of time to support and comfort.
My mum has settled in well and has developed a good rapport with the staff. Staff are friendly and supportive if we have any questions or concerns.
I feel that the care the patients receive is very good, their needs are cared for. They all are very happy.
The outstanding care and dedication that I have seen has been consistent and sensitively offered to my relative. I found trusting others to care for my loved one extremely difficult, worrying if the standard of care would meet my high expectations; the team have taken the time to listen and take on board my thoughts and knowledge in order to deliver a unique care offer to suit my loved one, working in partnership. They endeavour to provide an exceptional service; my relative is considered with dignity and respect, alongside providing for high well being. The atmosphere in this care home is very homely, professional and most of all happy.
I myself am a carer of over thirty-two-years experience and I have seen good and bad care in that time, so it was extremely hard to hand over responsibility of care for my mum to someone else, I have no worries becoming her voice if she should provide it but I doubt I will at unit 4. We were complete novices about admission to care home routine and didn't expect on assessment for them to do her washing, so unnamed items of clothing went missing but the senior went above and beyond and took me to the laundry to identify the clothes and got them named. My father, who is in his 80s, found the whole swab and test thing confusing, was helped by a lady in reception which he commented helped him a lot and it has also put my mind at rest that the staff look after him also. The staff I have met have always been pleasant, happy and helpful, nothing is too much trouble for us or my mum, my only regret is that I can't look after myself but I go away knowing she is getting good care if not the best that she could.
Only comment would be that my mum who was also visiting found the reception/visiting process a bit confusing but each time we were taken to the correct unit by a friendly staff member.
The carers were so kind and settled Mum in, she left hospital in a distressed state and the carers helped settle her and she was happy there.
Every carer I met was kind and respectful to my mum and that made me reassured. My mum sadly passed away, in her final days, the carers were very kind to me and communicated how my mum was. I want to say a massive thank you unit 3, you do an amazing job.
We have found all the staff always helpful, very caring and treat our dad with dignity. We can find no faults at all. Brilliant home and the staff should be very proud of themselves. We wouldn't want dad anywhere else.
I think Charnwood Oaks is an EXTREMELY good care home.
Care home staff do such a difficult and important job in normal circumstances, but since the start of the pandemic, this has been magnified hugely. The staff have been tremendous and really put the care in carers! Any issues that arise (and lots of issues do arise when people are elderly, frail and living with dementia) are dealt with very well. Where staff need to liaise with other agencies they are very tenacious and will not be satisfied until they have the best outcome for the person in their care. A lot of effort has been put into enabling safe visits. The environment is welcoming and very well suited to purpose but does not feel at all 'institutionalised'. The outside space is safe and sheltered, and my dad really enjoys the easy access to it that he has. A member of staff on my parents' unit takes her dog in to work with her; this is a huge bonus as our family has always had dogs and my parents love having him around.
I was so impressed that I did not want to see any others and I am pleased to say that I have never been disappointed by our experience in Unit 2.
My wife is not always cheerful, but when her mood is good she lets staff know that she appreciates what they do for her.
Her difficulties mean that she needs a considerable amount of care and this is provided kindly, cheerfully and thoroughly and she is assisted in joining in the social life and activities in the unit.
I myself find that staff at all levels are friendly, efficient and helpful, and I appreciate the efforts that have been made to maintain contact and visits during the Covid restrictions.
I would not only recommend the home to others, but also to myself if the need should arise.
It is a great comfort to know that whatever happens to us, my wife has a lovely home to care for her.
When Mum passed in the early hours of the morning, her key worker came to say goodbye, despite not even being on shift. Unit 3 became Mum’s home, and I am grateful for the care she received. I will always miss Mum, but I find peace in that she was cared for by a warm and responsive team.
I was thrilled to be able to see my mum looking so well and happy to see her safe.
Nothing was any trouble for the staff on unit 2, even in my mother’s last few days they tried everything to get fluids into her and also made sure, we as a family, were made comfortable and supported.
They interacted with the residents when they could, as the job that they do has much more to it than we actually see, my mother was always well presented and kept clean. On unit 2, occasionally. one of the staff took her little dog in, he was such a comfort for a lot of the residents, and you could see them watching his every move with a loving smile on there faces, well done, doggy.
The "Covid" situation has been difficult for all and I can't fault staff's hardworking attitude throughout...doing their best to enable us to visit Mum in unit 3.
The outdoor pod is enabling visiting during these unsettling times and staff on unit 3 are happy to help Mum with video chat so that we can keep in contact.
Prior to Covid, the standard of care seen on unit 3 was very good..staff always kind and helpful.
Mum moved to Charnwood Oaks Unit 2 in July 2016. She was treated with dignity and cared for very well. The staff are brilliant and nothing is too much trouble. I can say with hand on heart mum was extremely happy there. I used to feel guilty about putting mum in a home, though it was my duty to look after her. But as time went by I realised it was the best thing I could have done for her. Mum passed away in October and again the staff stepped up to the mark helping mum in her final day and also us, her family. Thank you Unit 2 you, are all fantastic.
