When someone you love depends on others for care, you want to know they will be kept safe and treated with respect, My mum has recently moved into this home and I’ve honestly been blown away with every single member of staff. The level of compassion and kindness shown to my mum will be something I never
forget, it’s the hardest thing I’ve done and it was made so much easier by the manager and her amazing team. Thank you to everyone involved.

Cedar Falls Nursing Home is wonderful and staff are excellent. I would recommend the care home to anyone. The maintenance person is wonderful, so are the receptionist, activities coordinator, the manager and all the staff. It does matter. It doesn't matter what creed, all the staff are wonderful, I
love them all even the new staff. I recommend this care home to anybody, it's a wonderful place, it's my home.

The appropriate external services were called upon for advice and the family were informed of the process and the following recommendations.
Our request for a room change was dealt with effectively and efficiently by both staff and management and the home is very accommodating with all our requests.

My mum and dad now reside at Cedar Falls Nursing Home, with Mum moving in nine years ago. Their care and attention to my parents is second to none, they ensure they are cared for really well and provide an immersive experience for them. They keep me fully informed of any changes in their care or health
and send monthly newsletters and updates.

Cedar Falls Care Home is blessed by an excellent catering team and staff who care for the residents and take the time to engage with them. The home is looking to recruit more staff which can only be a good thing so that an even higher standard of care can be achieved; offering more time to engage with/feedback
to relatives by phone or in person.
The rooms are well-presented and clean and the management team allows residents to take in personal items to make the room more homely. Even when clearly named items do go missing, which is frustrating and can be slow to be resolved.
Overall, I have been very happy with the team at Cedar Falls, I have peace of mind that my relative is being well cared for and is safe for which I am truly grateful.

Overall, the home was nice and had good facilities. The room was nice, and we were able to bring our own personal items from her house.
The only criticism was that my mother expressed dissatisfaction at the length of time it took staff to answer the call bell when she needed the toilet.
Also, it
might be good to note that patients as frail as my mother are unable to hold mugs of hot drinks and require a lighter cup that is more manageable. The staff were very friendly.
Reply from Jacky Blundell, Marketing and Communications Manager at Cedar Falls Nursing HomeThank you for your review of Cedar Falls. We are saddened to hear you have found some aspects of care lacking as we strive to consistently provide the quality care our residents deserve. I would urge you to discuss your concerns with the home manager so that she can look into the points you have raised to this end. I will pass on your comments for her attention.

Cedar Falls Nursing Home has come up full care. My husband is always clean, meals are good and he is well looked after. The staff have got to know him and he relates to them. Because of his dementia, it is hard for anyone to look after people with aggression but 'well done'. The cleaning is up to scratch
and I am always greeted and told if there are any problems with my husband. Thank you.

Visited the home for four weeks after being discharged from hospital to help get well enough to return home. The home was lovely, spent time getting fit and well ready to return home.
Can't fault any aspect of the home. Would highly recommend.

My mother has been in Cedar Falls Care Home about two years. I find the care home excellent in every department. The carers are all 100% determined to look after each and every resident in every possible way. My mother has got dementia! She hasn't recognised me in the last two years so make sure you
do your research. If my mother has any other problems like she gets a cold or she slips on an object on the floor and hurts herself then the care home will always ring me and explain my mum's problem and if she needs to go to hospital or see the doctor in the care home, they will ask me if it's ok to take her or leave her to see the local doctor. All meals and drinks are good and if a person needs help in getting fed properly then there will always be a carer to help. The care home is always clean and tidy and when things go wrong and break down the care home have plenty of maintenance people to sort the problems out. There are lots of parking places and room for vehicles in the care home. Thank you.

Some of the care staff are not well trained for this kind of care. Not enough time is given by carers, feeding patients before they take the food away. Because of this, you can see the deterioration in patients in a very short time. I have visited this care home almost every day at mealtimes and see
lots of what goes on inside.
Reply from Jacky Blundell, Marketing and Communications Manager at Cedar Falls Nursing HomeDear T W, we were saddened to read the comments in your review for Cedar Falls. We feel the need to respectfully respond. We are conscious that due to Covid 19 you have not visited the home in more than a year, so we were somewhat surprised to receive your review regarding observed mealtimes. We understand that this has been a distressing time for you being such a regular visitor prior to the pandemic. We have done all we can to ensure people stay connected, but of course, nothing is the same as coming into the home and being together. I understand that the regional manager has been in touch with you to discuss any concerns you have and we look forward to welcoming you back as soon as possible.

I have been very happy here for nearly three years and have received such kindness. A great effort is made to make old people happy and life interesting for them. All the staff are very kind and there are things like jigsaws to do and other games for those of us who are able to take part. I feel safe
here and among friends.

I couldn't recommend Cedar Falls highly enough, all staff are approachable and friendly. Excellent interaction, daily activities and special, caring needs. I'm confident my dad is well cared for, I have regular updates and pictures of his daily activities due to not being able to see him because of
the pandemic. I would recommend Cedar Falls, I know I don't have to worry about him, he's well cared for. The entertainment and activities are 10/10, love it. Dad loves his quizzes, singing and dancing. The food looks amazing and he looks clean and tidy. Most of all he isn't in his room all day. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.072)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.072) out of 10 for Cedar Falls Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.627 for Cedar Falls Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (128 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 150 Ratings = 4.627
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.445 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cedar Falls Nursing Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 93 registered maximum number of service users is 18.6. 12 Positive Reviews ÷ 18.6 = 0.645
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
