The staff took very good care of him. The carers were always friendly and welcoming towards us. They showed real care for my grandfather. Thank you to them for getting him back on his feet and home.

My Father-in-law is currently in for respite after his fall at home and was transferred to St Luke's after his operation in hospital. From day 1 we have all been made to feel so welcome and are overwhelmed at how caring and attentive all the staff are here, also my Father-in-law reports to us all how wonderful the food is, he has settled in really well which is a great comfort to us all knowing he is being taken care of. I know I can speak for all of the family that St Lukes has our 5* rating. We would just like to say a big thank you and well done to all the staff.

From the moment we brought my mother-in-law to St Luke's, we felt at ease and confident that she was going to receive the care that she needed.

We have seen such a marked improvement in her over the last few weeks. She smiles and laughs now, something she had forgotten she could do. She is thriving and we (as her extended family) are enjoying seeing her delight when her great-grandchildren visit.

My husband spent many happy days coming to St Luke's day centre prior to becoming a full-time resident. The care that he received from both nurses and care staff was exceptional.

I would highly recommend St Luke's, not only did they care for my husband, they looked after me. A massive thank you to the general manager and her team for making our time at St Luke's special.

I live in Devon and my brother is in London, so with our mother ready to go into a nursing home straight from hospital, we feel very fortunate to have chosen St Luke's from 300 miles away!. She spent the last month of her life in their care and we are so thankful she spent her last days at St Lukes where the atmosphere of kindness, compassion and attention shone through. It was very reassuring from so far away having the care she was getting and the compassion shown to us via phone calls etc was exceptional. Definitely a '5-star' nursing home as is proved by the mark below.

My dad stayed in here after he was released from hospital. I can't praise the staff and the place enough. He was so comfortable in the room they gave him and he had all his possessions with him to make him feel at home. If there was anything he wanted (eg.a mini-fridge), the staff were happy to provide this for him and they sorted it quickly. He also wanted some photos around him on the wall and the staff put hooks in the wall next to his bed so that he could see them easily. Every day, he phoned me to tell me about the meals he had. He was given options each day and said they were delicious and if there was ever anything he didn't fancy, the chef was happy to cook him something else. The staff work so hard and are always polite, helpful and cheerful and my dad made good friends with them. It is a very positive environment there. Visitors are always welcome and the place is clean throughout. I'm so glad that he was in such a lovely place for his last few months. Thank you for making him so happy.

Mum was discharged from hospital for palliative care in the community and she spent the last 3 weeks of her life in St Luke's Nursing Home being cared for by an excellent team of nurses and care staff. She was treated at all times with cheerfulness, politeness and respect. Her dignity was respected and the care that she received was faultless. The staff are dedicated and welcome the family in to be part of the whole team. We could not have wished for better care for Mum at the end of her life.

Overall Experience

St Luke’s Nursing Home provided my brother with the most fabulous care from their initial assessment until his death and my family and I cannot thank the team enough. The care team took the time to understand my brother and what was important to him.

One particular nurse who cared for my brother during the night including the night he died was so very very kind and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The nurse manager is such a lovely lady and went out of her way to support my brother. The cook and the handyman too were fabulous as were ALL the team.

I visit nursing homes professionally and from the nest was impressed by the person-centred care this team provide. The team provide a family environment and nothing was too much trouble. My brother felt safe at St Luke’s, valued and respected.

Thank you again to you all.

If you are a person looking to move to St Luke’s or a family looking for a nursing home I have no hesitation in recommending this home.

My mum's needs were catered for in a caring and professional manner. Due to her illness, she could be very much demanding, however, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The staff also helped and cared for me when I was upset during difficult visits which was both unexpected and appreciated. The manager also supported us and showed patience during protracted disputes with social services. Mum always wanted to go home but despite this, I'm sure she was content. The staff must have really liked mum as you described her to a tee and said that they will really miss her.

I've had a total hip replacement and came to St Luke.s for some care and rest to help me before I went home.
The management and all of the staff have been extremely kind and helpful to me when I needed to have some support.

It's lovely to have people you can have a laugh and joke with when you are feeling under the weather. So I say thank you to everyone.

I always find the staff to be friendly. My room is comfortable.

The food is good and there is always plenty of it.

It would be nice to have more activities.

I feel very secure here.

It would be nice if there could be a better television set in the lounge.

My mother was in the care of St Luke's Nursing Home from March-Dec 2017. For the last two months, she was bed bound - the staff showed her care and compassion throughout her time there. This care home has a homely touch to it.

Until her death in the care of St Luke's Nursing Home this week, my mother-in-law had been a resident for three years and five months.
During this period she received the highest level of care and compassion and this was consistent across the four elements of management, nursing care, daily welfare and provision of food.
There is no doubt that the staff at St Luke's have managed to achieve a real family environment, warm hearted and genuine. This has resulted in a calming ambience where each individual's needs are fulfilled.

In summary, St Luke's is a real care home its staff are to be congratulated on their attainment.

St Luke's staff have looked after my mum for the last two years of her life. She had end stage Alzheimers. The care has always been very good and the home is always clean and tidy. Nothing was ever too much trouble and I have always received a cheery welcome every time I visited mum. I myself am a nurse so I do understand that there is a lot of hard work goes into running a care home. This one seems to have got it right well done.
