Since January 2026 till March 2026 my mum's health declined rapidley. Admitted to hospital numerous times due to health and breathing difficulties. Paramedics called numerous times. So it was decided to look at care home for my mum. Madeira House was where Mum chose. So thanks to the manager Julie's dedication, support form all the staff, mum was admitted for respite until permanent residency has been reviewed and approved. But thanks to all of them, my mum is in a better place to live a happy life.

The home has been very helpful, supportive, kept me updated, and offered advice about different services. The home staff have always been polite and friendly, always remembering my name and always speaking to me when I visit my mum.

I am also impressed by how clean the home is - no smells, it seems very well organised. The staff always seem respectful to my mum and do their best to address her wishes. I have been happy and impressed with how the home is run. (The rating for rooms is satisfactory only because they are not very big - no ensuite)

My wife Janet suffers from dementia. She has lost the use of her hands and cannot walk. She is unable to converse and is totally reliant on others for cleanliness, eating and drinking. She is virtually bed-bound, but the home has provided a specialist wheelchair so she can enjoy some functions in the lounge. She has been in the home for 2 years this May. She has been treated wonderfully by the caring staff. Could not wish for more.

The staff here have a great attitude towards the people they care for, and nothing is too much bother.

The staff work hard and could do with more help. All in all, it is a kind, loving environment. I am pleased to have these people looking after my mother.

My mother was admitted to Madeira House for respite care after several weeks in hospital. I found that all the staff were very kind and caring. They treated my mother with respect and were friendly towards her. Julie the manager was extremely helpful and Jade too when Julie wasn't available. They provided a high level of care and couldn't of asked for more. Thank you to all the staff.

My brother has had a short stay in Madeira House whilst he was assessed for appropriate care.
Unfortunately Madeira could not fulfil his nursing needs, but I would recommend this Care Home for its safe, clean and friendly environment. Julie and her staff went above and beyond to assist and provide my brother and myself with peace of mind and lots of advice for his future well being.

I cant thank them all enough.

I was grateful to find a safe place for my mother following a fall at home. The manager was accommodating and helped regarding our needs. Generally we had a positive experience; the chef was very obliging and made a special effort with residents' needs. Staff also friendly and helpful. The manager was always visible which was reassuring. On the negative side, my mother found noise levels from dementia clients was obtrusive, although she appreciated the issues with this. Small details like no soap in toilet also.

My brother and I have today been to celebrate my father's 80th birthday.
Julie and her team have ensured he was clean, dressed and comfortable in the lounge for our arrival and then made a lovely fuss of him for his birthday.
Julie, Ryan and the chef (apologies I have forgotten his name) really stood out to us and we are both so grateful for your care of our Dad. He is so vulnerable with his frailty and dementia, and we know that he can be very challenging, so thank you to you all - today and every day xxx

my dad recently came into the care home initially for respite, but loved it so much he ended up staying. The staff are fantastic, the meals are amazing- I have not seen my dad this happy in years I get daily messages but instead of telling me how depressed he is it is to tell me how happy he is now. There are daily activities which he enjoys- I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a placement for a family member- oh forgot to mention his room is fabulous too - thanks to everyone for changing his life xx

Sadly our experience of Madeira House care home hasn't been a positive one. Our loved one has often been neglected; lack of care and compassion. Many issues with members of staff and management. On many occasions our relatives personal care has not been satisfactory, drinks weren't always available and the general cleanliness was poor. The home seem to offer many activities for the more abled residents but hugely lacking in care all round. Some staff have been helpful and genuinely care but others don't appear to have the correct training and skills needed.
