The care and support for my wife, myself and my family was outstanding during the short time my wife was in The Old Vicarage. I believe this contributed to us having her longer than expected. To me, this felt like home, and we have made many friends. Keep up the good work you are all a credit to The Old Vicarage.

My mother spent her last month here with terminal cancer. The main plus points of the Home are: (1) Very attentive, caring, compassionate staff (2) Fully trained nursing staff who are able to deliver excellent pain relief and last days hospice care (3) Very pleasant homely, old stone-built building and gardens (4) Ease of access to the staff for updates/general communication (5) Excellent, freshly prepared meals regularly delivered throughout the day (6) Easy wheelchair access to the gardens for the residents (7) Visitors welcome at any time of day or night via a private entrance (8) car parking on site for visitors. Although only in the home for a month, my mother was able to form relationships with the staff and vice versa which was very beneficial to her. Highly recommended!

I found all the staff to be kind, courteous and they provided a very satisfactory level of care. Nursing care was given with compassion and the staff try to make the environment as homely as possible. They always make time to discuss any issues and have a chat.

My mother was admitted to The Old Vicarage on Friday 4th January 2019 and immediately felt "at home". The staff, they were wonderful with her as it soon became clear that this was "end of life" care. She was treated with great respect and her dignity was maintained. Her room was cosy and warm and she always appeared to be comfortable. In addition to Mum's care, I (and other family members) were always treated with respect and tea plentiful. When the end came it was peaceful and dignified and I was shown much love and kindness. Thank you all.

My auntie was with you only a few days before she passed away.

The care of her was outstanding, she was always treated with dignity. The staff were very kind to my sister and I and were very supportive - nothing was too much trouble for them.

My aunt was in hospital after a fall and not doing very well. The hospital was poorly equipped to cope and her health slowly deteriorated.
I looked at various nursing homes and The Old Vicarage was by far the best I saw in the area. The staff are superb, the home is clean and very well run.

My aunt improved dramatically under the care of the home and was happy. I cannot recommend this home highly enough it is brilliant!!

All those who I met at The Old Vicarage showed such care and compassion to my mother during her stay. Any requests I made were carried out and staff sought me out to chat and discuss Mum'[s situation and care etc. Nothing was too much trouble. Sadly Mum passed away after a brief stay and once again, staff showed support and care to myself at the sad time. A lovely warm and friendly atmosphere generated by everyone at the Old Vicarage.

All staff very welcoming and friendly, my uncle seemed very comfortable.
Staff asked us on two occasions if we would like a drink.
My uncle had a lovely view of the gardens from his bedroom.
We were shown straight to him by a member of staff as it was our first visit.

The visit was very pleasing.

I was very happy with the care my Aunt received. None of the negatives often applied to nursing homes applied here. Staff were lovely; the rooms were fresh and clean.

Despite our reservations of mum having to go into residential care, the staff at The Old Vicarage made her comfortable and welcome from the outset. Both my mum and I quickly realised that she was in the right place! We got to know the staff very well and her care needs were thoroughly looked after. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Old Vicarage.

Although my Mother was only in there a month before she died I was happy with the care she had. Everyone was so helpful and friendly and, as I live in Devon, they kept me in touch with everything.

Mum was a resident for around three years and passed away last August. She was bedridden with dementia. I found the staff to be empathic, with good care and regular agency staff. Think the activities for bedridden could be better but on the whole good all round.

Our aunt is very happy here and in her own words "has no complaints"! The meals are very good, there are choices daily and the staff very considerate to serve alternatives when my aunt cannot manage. The room is always clean and bright. Staff always helpful and friendly. There are plenty of things to do e.g. Entertainment for residents and family. Also, staff happy to change audio books regularly. In general a very good home in all respects.

After a lot of difficulties, we transferred my wife to The Old Vicarage. It has a warm, friendly atmosphere. The staff are lovely and have been happily working there for many years, which is an endorsement of the home.

I feel the nursing home is an extension to my home and I feel comfortable visiting my wife there every day.

My mother has been lovingly cared for over the last nearly 2 years. She has been treated with dignity and humour. Management and staff have also shown pastoral care and concern to me as we've been through several crises.

I sing their praises to my friends of the care we've all received.

Our relative is very happy with the care given. Food is good. The staff are caring and helpful. As a visitor I appreciate the staff for being very friendly - they always come in and chat to us. Excellent choices on the menu, with good alternatives (e.g. If a person can't chew) and a lovely atmosphere whenever I visit - calm, friendly and lots of smiles. Our aunt has settled in and likes being here very much. I always feel welcome to join in the many interesting activities when I visit. A lovely room surrounded by her photos and possessions - Aunty loves it.
