My mother has been a resident now for approximately 18 months. The staff are excellent and make up for any issues with the building showing some signs of its age. I am fully relaxed in regard to the care my mum is receiving.
Thank you so much for your review. I will pass on your comments to all our team. It is good for them to know that all their hard work is recognised and appreciated.
We were very pleased with the care and support staff and management gave my father during his stay at Polebrook. They always were happy to answer any questions or concerns we might have had and addressed them. I would certainly recommend Polebrook Care Home. Thank you again.
Thank you so much for your recent review. We will pass on your lovely comments to all our dedicated team. It is good for them to know that all their hard work is appreciated. Thank you, Paige (Head Office Administrator).
Since Mum became a resident in June she has settled in well and is getting to know other residents. The staff are all so kind and I love seeing the way they interact with her. Knowing she is safe and in such good hands means everything to me and talking to visitors of other residents they all feel the same.
We will pass on your lovely comments to all our dedicated team.
It is good for them to know that all their hard work is appreciated.
Thank you
Pamela
Polebrook Care Home has been amazing in caring for my father since he moved there in January 2023. He is clean, stimulated and very settled we can’t thank all the staff enough for their incredible care and kindness thank you so much.
Thank you
Pamela
Since her arrival 6 months ago, there has been a noticeable improvement in her health and well-being and when her health goes a little awry, Polebrook act immediately to deal with any medical situation, including an overnight stay in hospital if required and any of these issues are always communicated in a professional and timely manner.
She now enjoys three meals a day and regular activities to stimulate and involve her socially, even if there is resistance to do so.
Keep up the good work team Polebrook.
We will pass on your wonderful comments, it is so rewarding for the team to know their hard work and exceptional level of care is appreciated.
Thank you
My mother has been staying at Polebrook for the last 2 years. She is treated with the utmost kindness and respect and I am so grateful to all the carers and staff.
Kind regards.
The incredible care, kindness, thoughtfulness and love shown to Mum over the time that she was a resident was exemplary. Although my mum has been bedridden for the majority of her stay and unable to do anything for herself, you could see how much she appreciated the team members and raised many a smile and a laugh from them. We, as a family and her faithful friends, are so very grateful that she was treated with the utmost care and dignity and nothing was too much trouble. Everyone was respectful and greeted us cheerfully, many times consoling me/us. We thank you so very much and shall miss seeing those cheerful faces.
My father moved into Polebrook Nursing Home on 31-12-2021 and to date, the home has kept me informed of how my dad is. Current Covid issues make things difficult! I can only review from 31-12-2021 to date, but to date appear to be satisfactory, thankfully. My father has dementia and Parkinson's. I have spoken to my father several times on the phone. Due to the home being in lockdown due to a Covid outbreak among the staff, manager and residents, I have reviewed to the best of my knowledge.
My father needed lots of care physically and mentally when he arrived at the care home from hospital. His time was then short but he was cared for which was everything. The staff were kind and helpful. Thank you to everyone.
Excellent.
Personnel very friendly, helpful in all circumstances. Have complete trust and faith that will do anything for my father - both healthwise and socially interacting.
My wife, aged 85, has only been at this care home for 2 months. It is ideal for her, being purpose-built, all ground floor and bedrooms almost all looking out over fairly spacious gardens. She is a residential Alzheimer's resident and a significant feature is that there is a nursing dementia care section should such become necessary. There are very good lounges and activities, which are very beneficial for my wife who is still very sociable.
Watching the wonderful videos that you guys have done during Covid. My Auntie is in your care and she no longer remembers me. But watching her sing and smile with the staff in the video made me so reassured that she is loved and cared for.
Thank you Laura for your kind words. Making our residents happy is what we enjoy the most. I will pass this onto our care staff - take care.
My brother had complex Parkinson's disease. He was in a wheelchair and was able to see very little. He was very dependant for all his needs. He was a quiet, shy gentle gentleman and the staff were very aware and respectful of this. The care, kindness and understanding that they showed was very good, and they were all always cheerful and positive. At his end, they used their knowledge and expertise, worked alongside his Parkinson's specialist and he was able to slip away quietly, at home and peacefully. I am very grateful to the whole staff for all they did for him.
Thank you Sue for your kind words- the staff will really appreciate reading this.
One month after my wife entered this nursing home covid pandemic restrictions came in so visiting was very limited during the past year and it is therefore difficult to write a full review. My wife passed away on 3rd May 2021. Throughout the year myself and family were always kept informed of her condition and we know that she was given excellent care throughout her time at Polebrook. The 'end of life' care given was excellent and arrangements were made to enable us to be with her regularly during this difficult period.
My father was transferred to Polebrook Nursing Home from hospital as they could do no more for him there. We felt so relieved that he died in such a lovely, caring and peaceful place as Polebrook. He was only there a short time, but when we visited he looked comfortable, calm, clean and cared for. Thank you to everyone who looked after him.
The Manager, nursing staff, carers and kitchen staff were helpful and accommodating throughout my grandmother's stay. Grandmother was settled into her new home with care. The Manager was proactive throughout the arrangements for her move. Gleaning medical and personal information to aid with her care and comfort from the various agencies involved in her care to date. The handyman/caretaker took time ensuring that the room was set out for her use and comfort, surrounding her with familiar family photos and cross stitch projects she cherished. A reluctant resident, she soon warmed to the staff and had her favourites. They were flexible and approachable and happy to accommodate her requests for changes to assist with her comfort and medical needs. Regular meetings were held, attended by all parties involved in her care and her health and welfare was clearly the centre of their focus throughout her stay. Her passing was handled sensitively. I have no hesitation in recommending this care home.
Thank you so much, Denise. Your kind words really do mean a lot to us.
My father was cared for at Polebrook Nursing Home for the last 2 years until his end of life. The nursing he received was of the highest standard and very professional. Although his dementia caused his character to change and become abusive often lashing out at the staff, they were marvellous with him. We were informed of all changes. His care was dealt with dignity and peacefulness to his end of life, for which we are eternally grateful.
It was very short notice when my friend was admitted to Polebrook Nursing Home with a diagnosis of terminal cancer. She was only there for one week, but this one week is remembered as being very special in every way. The care was absolutely professional. Her pain was managed perfectly. her needs were attended to in the finest detail and she was clearly in an environment of care and compassion. It's wonderful to feel that, only having one week to live, all needs could be met cheerfully. My friend was treated with dignity, fed appropriate meals and really nursed to her final moments, which fortunately were peaceful. her 86 years came to a lovely end in this beautiful place. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your kind words, it is most appreciated. I will be sure to pass on this lovely review to our team here at Polebrook.
We could not have asked for a better care home for Mum. She was the happiest she had been for a long while in the months she was with the home. I would have no hesitation recommending this excellent facility with a superb, well-led staff team who really knew Mum and all her idiosyncrasies.

Meet the Team (5)

Hi, my name is Jo, I work in Reception at Polebrook Nursing Home. I have been here for a little over a year, however, I used to work here back in 2016, but I left to live in Sweden with my husband for a while. Whilst we were there I managed to complete my Degree and I graduated in 2018. I really love being back here and love interacting with the residents and their friends and relations on a daily basis. The environment here is very calm, relaxing and super welcoming and I love coming to work every day! In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and walking my 2 dogs, Leo & Layla.

I've worked as housekeeper, in the laundry, as kitchen assistant over the years and I'm currently working as one of the cooks.
I enjoy working here at Polebrook because of the staff and residents.

I’ve been working at Polebrook for 3 years now. I first started as a carer and then moved onto feeding in the morning and at teatime.
I currently work as a kitchen assistant, and enjoy supporting the residents.
I enjoy cooking and gardening in my free time.

This is the second care home that I have been working at.
My favourite part about my job is talking to the residents when I come into work and having catch ups with them.
In my spare time, I enjoy sports, such as swimming and cycling.

I have been a nurse since 2015, and have been working in a hospital until 2019.
I am from a place near Venice in Italy, and have been living in England since 2015.
I cover both days and nights at Polebrook, so some days I feel like I live here!
In my spare time, I enjoy reading and watching TV.
