My wife is receiving very good care at Parkside Nursing Home despite the recent introduction of lots of new staff members and management changes who are still familiarising themselves with procedures and residents. Some of the music played is quite modern and not really relative to the ages of the residents.

My Mother has been a resident of Parkside Nursing Home for eleven years. I just wanted to record my profound gratitude to all the staff at Parkside both present and past who have provided such a loving and caring home for my dear mother across the years. Most of all I am grateful for the almost ten
years that my late father was able to visit and spend time with my mother, visiting her on an almost daily basis. My father was made welcome and was able to spend so many happy days with Mam at Parkside and was able to enjoy and create literally thousands of extra happy times and memories of being with her. I remain so grateful to be able to visit and spend time with her and know Parkside staff care for her and love her too and this remains a great comfort to me. The home is always clean and welcoming, the food and level of care is very high with my mother's individual care needs being clearly taken into account consistently. Thank you so very much.

My wife has been a resident of Parkside Nursing Home for nine years. I just wanted to say that I think I can speak from significant experience that Parkside Nursing Home have always provided a kind, caring and loving home to a very precious wife and mother across these years. The past year with Covid-19
has been so difficult for us as a family to suddenly be separated from my wife for so long but everyone at Parkside Nursing Home have continued to care so well for her and have tried very hard to keep us informed about how she is, this has meant so much to us and has helped me to cope. I particularly would like to commend all the dedicated carers at Parkside Nursing Home and also the activities coordinators who have gone out of their way to send regular updates, photographs and video calls. These have enabled us to keep a connection with my wife, we are very grateful. Based on my experience I would strongly encourage anyone looking for a home for a loved one to put their trust in Parkside Nursing Home.

My aunty went to Parkside in December. Right from day one full of support, professional, informed of everything going on. All the staff there are amazing. Timetable available of weekly activities. Photos on social media of family member. Which is good to see. She is so happy there and we can't thank
them enough.

My auntie is in the home on respite and they have been fantastic with her. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Things have been difficult at the moment with Covid but you only have to pick the phone up and they will tell you anything you need to know. My auntie is really happy in there, they put on
different things for them to do and it keeps them entertained. I would recommend this home to anybody.

Parkside looked after my father for just over 2 years and the care he received was nothing short of excellent. All the staff are warm, friendly and caring treating the residents like their own family members. Covid hit and we couldn’t visit dad but still, we received video calls and updates. My father
was not the easiest of residents as he was aware of his situation and hated the personal care required but the staff still dealt with him in an appropriate way and knew when to ‘just give him a minute’ and then return. My heartfelt thanks goes to each and everyone of the staff at Parkside.

I have previously rated Parkside and have no hesitation in repeating what was written before. My mother was a resident from July to October 2019 and I can only repeat that the care and professionalism and the love and respect we as a family was shown and witnessed during such a difficult time has stayed
with us. If we could have mothers last 12 weeks all over again we would have no hesitation in allowing her to be cared for by the wonderful team at Parkside.

My grandad has been receiving end of life care at Parkside, and the quality of care, dignity and respect he has been given over his last few days has been second to none. The staff have not only cared for my grandad, but they've also cared wholeheartedly for us, his relatives and made what's been a
really tough situation just that little bit better.
I'd like to thank everyone at Parkside for everything they have done for our family. I wish I could rate the staff, and the dignity that has been provided above excellent.

My dad moved here a couple of months ago on a long term basis. The staff remembered Dad and us as a family from a previous short term visit over a year ago, and have made us all very welcome now that Dad has returned on a permanent basis. They respect his wishes, communicate with him in a good way,
and keep him looking clean and well.
Dad is out of bed most of the time when I visit which is great. His room is tidy and clean and when he is not in there the bed is made and the windows are open airing the space. I have helped Dad with meals and these always look appetising. Dad has suffered quite a few water infections in the past at other homes, but Parkside seem very on the ball with this in terms of monitoring his fluid intake. It was Dad's 60th birthday this weekend and the staff allowed us one of the day rooms to ourselves and put on a lovely buffet for us all too. I would recommend this care home.

The best thing we have ever done is getting my father a place here, he is very well cared for and all the staff go over and above what other care homes seem to do. Cannot fault this home at all, it is a home from home with the added benefit of nursing and care staff on hand 24 hours a day. I would recommend
here to anyone needing this type of care.

Current Review Score: 7.3 (7.267)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.3 (7.267) out of 10 for Parkside Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.167 for Parkside Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (3 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 4.167
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.1 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Parkside Nursing Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 10 = 0.1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
