The Review Score of 8.5 (maximum of 10) for Hazelgrove Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Hazelgrove Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.651 for Hazelgrove Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (76 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.651

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hazelgrove Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.5

    2. Target of 8 positive Reviews (40 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 3 Reviews ÷ 8 Target = 0.375

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

The care home is a home from home for Mum. Everyone is so friendly to Mum and all of us. Always listened to and supported. Staff really friendly, patient and still professional. Very supportive to us all when my Dad passed away.

I can only compliment the home on the love and dedication they have to all the residents. My mother has been happy and content there since September 2005 and now she is now 99 years old and continues to be cared for with dignity and respect. Everyone at the home is kind and understanding, The social side at the home really tries to add to the development of the activities available to the residents. I cannot thank them enough for all they have done for myself and my wonderful mum.

Since my parents moved in this time last year following my father's death and mother's illness and operations, the staff have been faultless. They have shown compassion, dignity and always treated them well. I am kept well informed and know that mum is in good hands. We are so glad that we chose Hazel Grove.

The only experience I have is that the rooms would be better if they were a bit larger bearing in mind that most of the residents are wheelchair bound and have to be hoisted to bed etc.

My mum resided at Hazelgrove Care Home for 15 months prior to her death in Dec 2014. We found the staff to be patient and caring and most of them had a brilliant rapport with mum and had a laugh and joke with her. She suffered from dementia and so was not always in the best frame of mind - this was dealt with in an understanding way and she was always treated with dignity. We will always be grateful for the kindness.

Mum was in Hazelgrove Nursing home for end of life care. The staff and management were brilliant and we were very happy with the care provided. Support for us the family was so extremely good. The staff were very patient, caring and would go the extra mile when necessary. The care home also had a nice friendly, welcoming feel to it.

My mother was happy at Hazelgrove. The staff were friendly and caring. My mother had dementia and they were so patient and kind, even when occasionally, she was less than co-operative.
She was in the care home less than five years almost and we, her family, were always made to feel welcome and were kept informed at all times.
In her final week when she was on end-of-life care, their attention to her every need was exemplary. We couldn't have wished for more.

My mum and dad have received wonderful care at the home. All the staff, carers, management, cleaners etc. all work incredibly hard and always go that extra mile. Care is present 24 hours a day with the carers always being prepared to do anything to help the residents. The atmosphere in the home reflects the wonderful job done by everybody.

Job Title: Home Manager

Description:

I have worked in care for the elderly for over 30 years, starting as a care assistant and working my way up to Registered Manager over the years. In this time I have worked in various settings, including residential and day care, affording me a good insight into all aspects of care.

My work is my passion – it’s more than a job, it’s a way of life. I feel most privileged to be able to make a difference in people’s everyday lives. Here at Hazelgrove, we want to create a “home from home” where residents, their families and staff live and work together in a family environment.
