Mum (94) was admitted to Hazelgrove in December 2025 and is still a resident. Mum had lived independently until a stay in hospital, after which she wasn't well enough to return home. As a family it was a very difficult decision to make.
It has been such a relief to find this lovely place. The management
and staff have been kind, accommodating and considerate from day 1. Knowing mum is safe and cared for 24/7 is so reassuring. Obviously mum would love to return home but Hazelgrove is the next best thing until then.
Reply from Nigel Allen, Manager at Hazelgrove Care HomeThank you for your kind comments. We are so pleased that your mother has settled in well, and we are really enjoying getting to know her and the family.

My wife has been a resident for almost 3 months now and I am constantly impressed and reassured by the friendliness and efficiency of the manager and staff. Everyone addresses my wife by her christian name, and interacts with her professionally, in a way that respects her dignity throughout times which
sometimes must be difficult for them, given the nature of dementia. The facilities and furniture look virtually new, clean and hygeinic. I'm really happy with the way my wife is being cared for.

I visit my friend (monthly). My friend has been here now nearly 2 years. She was very poorly when she first arrived, but is now thriving and absolutely loves it here!
I'm always impressed by the many varied activities on offer at Hazelgrove, and I love to see the photos on social media of my friend
taking part and having fun.

Sadly our experience of Hazelgrove was far from a 10*rating. The 2 stars I have given are for the few genuinely lovely carers. My husband required bariatric care but although advertised as available it was in fact sadly lacking. The nursing care particularly was woefully inadequate in my opinion. We
had serious misgivings about a number of health and safety aspects which have been brought to the attention of the management who have been dismissive of our concerns. The Manager (who has now left) was extremely rude, and disrespectful to myself and family members. After my husband passed away we received no condolences from the Manager or Milford Care Group for 7 weeks and only then because they had to acknowledge my complaint, which I find shockingly unprofessional.
Reply from Pierre Falleth, Director & Business Manager at Hazelgrove Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your views. While we're sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations, the description of our care home does not reflect what we see day to day at Hazelgrove or the feedback we receive from the vast majority of families. We take every concern seriously. All concerns are thoroughly investigated, as were yours, and responded to in full. Where an investigation finds no evidence to support a concern, this is not a sign of being "dismissive" but of our commitment to responding based on the facts. We expect and promote respectful communication at all times, and our own records and other feedback do not indicate behaviour of the kind described. We remain proud of our team and their dedication to providing safe, compassionate care.We are grateful for people taking the time to give feedback, but unfortunately we do not recognise the description here of our care home or our excellent management team.

This care home has made the transition from my mother-in-law's home environment to a care-nursing home very easy. Everyone is very friendly, and as time has gone on, we feel ourselves and our mother-in-law have joined a whole new family and friends. The environment is light, welcoming and full of activity
and fun.

My mother in law is so happy with the care. She has made good friends. Management are always there to assist and help. All staff are available when needed. She gained weight and is able to walk again. She doesn't spend time in her bedroom because she likes to talk to everyone. Overall, excellent care!
Environment is clean and the food has loads of choices.

On my first visit to Hazelgrove Care Home, I was quickly aware of an enveloping air of a warm atmosphere. The numbers and attitudes of care staff are outstanding features. The example set by management is key. There is a consistency of patience and good humour amongst the entire team. My sister is settled
and contented. She speaks affectionately of carers' attention to detail. She speaks affectionately too of the opportunities for individual and group stimulation. None of her family have worries about her physical, psychological or medical welfare.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.878)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.878) out of 10 for Hazelgrove Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.878 for Hazelgrove Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (250 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 262 Ratings = 4.878
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hazelgrove Care Home is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
