Our relative was transferred for end of life care. From the first enquiry one staff member in particular went above and beyond, answering our questions and making us feel our relatives needs would to be met. He was always clean and well cared for. The meal selection was really tasty and when able he
enjoyed his meals especially the puddings. Staff were always polite and supportive answering our questions with good knowledge of our relatives needs. He never showed any signs of distress and remained comfortable until the end. It was a very difficult decision to acknowledge he needed 24 hour care but it was the best decision we made. The only negative being the decor is outdated and tired making the home first impression misleading . It was always clean and there was no odours. Thank you

Thank you for your kind words. This has been passed on to all of the staff at Millington Springs. It was a pleasure to look after your relative, and we are pleased that you were happy with his care. We take on board your comments about the decor and have plans to update areas of the home which need this.

My Mum has been at Millington for over two years. I don't have the words to express my gratitude for how hard everyone has worked to keep her safe and ensure that the life she has is the best it can be for her.
She has been a rather difficult customer from day one. Dementia and Alzhiemers and other
health conditions.
The manager, in particular has fought so hard to get Mum the support she needed from securing nursing care, which had been removed from her and then securing one to one support to help her to feel safe and secure when her mind was telling her otherwise.
The home have gone over and above for Mum and sadly, she has to move on as they can no longer meet her needs.
The staff at this home, and I am sure many others, do a job I could never do myself and perform tasks that give our loved ones the dignity and pride they are stripped of when these awful diseases take hold.
Thank you seems empty and not enough. You are all wonderful!

Thank you so much for your kind words, they have been shared with the team and are greatly appreciated. It has been a pleasure looking after your mum and a sad day when she had to leave us. We wish her all the best and thank you for your ongoing support and understanding while she was with us.

The home is always clean, and residents not just my dad always seem happy. Carers go above and beyond to help residents and visitors alike. Food is freshly made every day, again the kitchen is very clean. Plenty of space to have private time with your relatives.

My father has been in Millington Springs now for just over a year and is doing really well. He always looks clean with his own clothes on and well fed, the staff are really nice keeping me informed as and when I need to know anything which in turn makes me happy to know my father is being looked after
so well.

On entering the home for the first time, it seemed to fulfil needs but on closer inspection from past months, there seemed to be a lot that needed picking up on. I couldn't get to the home a lot as it was miles from where I live, and had to hope that in my absence my Uncle was getting the best care.
I asked for a drink for my Uncle on one occasion, which they gave me, and he choked! No one had told me he now had thickened drinks and they certainly didn't know! When my uncle did pass away on Christmas Day 2023 and we went to fetch his belongings, there were faeces on his ornaments which was traumatising to myself and the family! Did no one check what they were giving us? By faeces, I don't mean smears, it looked like the basket of ornaments had been used as a toilet. To be honest, these things would have been easy to rectify and I am very disappointed with the care he received!

We are sorry to receive this review from you and hear that these belongings were received in this way which understandably caused upset to you and your family, We were unaware this was the case. Your uncle was a much-loved man in the home and a pleasure to care for, his presence is missed in the home.

Mum has been in Millington Springs for some time. On her birthday, staff sang happy birthday in her room, kitchen staff made a birthday cake, presented in the dining room at lunch, again singing happy birthday. Photos were sent to us. Care and nursing staff are amazing, speaking to residents with care
and affection and calming and soothing actions. The manager is just brilliant. He is a kind and caring man, he can't do enough for everyone, even disrupting his lunch. It is not uncommon for him to ask residents if they would like to sit with him while he is at his computer, having conversations and never getting annoyed when they get frustrated. He just changes the subject in a very calming way. The rooms are always spotless and smell fresh. The activities include a singer, a Christmas play, small animal day, summer fair etc. We are made welcome to have lunch with Mum, giving a small donation to the activities fund. I can't praise everyone enough. Thank you so much, everyone.

I want to start by saying how truly honoured I am to have had my nana stay here. She recieved the utmost care, and the staff were like family to her and to us as well. She sadly passed away on the 17th of May 2024 from breast cancer and dementia. Which, of course, was very upsetting, but up until that
point, I can't thank the staff enough for their beautiful and happy urge to do what they do, which was love my nana, the same way we did. Thank you, Millington Springs, for giving Nana the best end-of-life care possible. My best advice is, to never stop doing what you're doing. God bless you and thank you for your service.

My 93 year old mother had been a resident in Millington Springs for two and a half years. I can honestly say the care was unbeatable. The home was immaculately clean, the food ample and beautifully cooked on site and the care and nursing staff both dedicated and enthusiastic. Great pride was always
taken on the cleanliness of the residents giving them ultimate respect and dignity. Enthusiasm in theme days, quizzes and mental stimulation were also part of the care agenda. Until lockdown families were encouraged to join their loved ones on themed days (which were amazing). My mother was kept safe in Millington and I had no worries. During the pandemic the home exercises very tight rules to protect both residents and families. Millington treated me as part of their family with the utmost love and support. It is a marvelous place to put a loved one.

Millington Springs' dual residential/nursing registration offered us an obvious and improved care benefit when Mum’s old residential care needed to be increased. Despite some 'special measures' for a period, Mum has ALWAYS been treated with care and respect and any concerns listened and responded to
in a timely manner. As the longest remaining resident she has seen many improvements: new routines and senior/clinical leadership now provide the clear direction and compliance previously lacking whilst the sincere care and compassion from staff still remains at the fore. Mum's fluctuating needs change hourly but her triggers are responded to well and they have no hesitation to involve us if appropriate.
The home has navigated through Covid with compassion and care and worked with us to apply a common sense approach when Mum entered the 'end of life' stage during this time.
No home is perfect – not even ours! – but they have always understood care and compassion for which we remain very grateful.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.592)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.592) out of 10 for Millington Springs is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.278 for Millington Springs is calculated as follows: ( (53 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (8 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 79 Ratings = 4.278
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.314 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Millington Springs is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.4 = 0.714
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
