Management and staff totally committed to caring for all residents. I do feel at times the paperwork carers need to do takes them away from some basic needs of care. Mum is happy and settled at Silverwood which gives me peace of mind.

When I come to see my mother she is very comfortable. The staff are always polite and helpful with me and my mother. If there are any concerns with my mothers health, they contact the doctor or health visitor. She likes her hair and nails done.

I feel the need to comment on the admirable dedication and patience of the staff caring for my aunt. She became a resident at Silverwood Care Home last April, following a series of minor strokes which contributed to dementia and an inability to think for herself, and so live independently. Even though
my aunt regularly appears unappreciative and can react very unreasonably, the unconditional care and understanding she received is always given kindly with due consideration for her needs and difficulties. Whilst providing essential personal care, the carers encourage and support her independence as much as possible, with respect, maintaining her self-esteem and dignity. The purpose built premises, along with the staff, are conducive to providing a very warm and friendly home.

I was so grateful to Silverwood Care Home for letting me stay for a week after I'd had a nasty fall at home. A staff member came to see me, and I was so relieved that she also arranged for my husband to stay as well, as he really couldn't have coped at home without me.
Everyone at the home was so
kind and considerate. My room was lovely and provided all I needed. My only complaint about the food was they they always gave me too much. The very friendly, warm, homely atmosphere really helped me on my road to recovery. Thank you all.

My Father-in-Law had a couple of weeks care at Silverwood Care home two years ago and has always spoke highly of the experience, saying that he wouldn't worry if he ever had need to return there again. Recently, his mobility has deteriorated and he has found himself at Silverwood Care Home again. It
is wonderful to say that it still meets his expectations: comfortable surroundings and bedrooms; tasty meals, entertainment and outings. There is nowhere like your own home, but I believe this is as close as you can get.

Absolutely outstanding, nothing was too much for the staff at Silverwood Care Home pleasant, kind and always putting residents and family first. I'm at peace as my father sadly passed away there on the 24/10/15 they treated my father with dignity and respect.

Staff: Caring and considerate, kind and very helpful.
Room; Clean and tidy. Issues with the laundry turn around time. Communal rooms/lounge in need of renovation, carpets and chairs especially all need cleaning or replacing. Difficult sometimes to speak on the telephone, in need of a receptionist to
answer door and phone! (I have waited almost ten minutes for door to be answered!) Overall pleased with the care my mum has received.

We are happy that you feel the care your Mother receives is good. The home is currently undergoing a refurbishment. The telephone systems are currently being looked into. The issue with the door being answered, if you speak to the Home Manager, this will be rectified immediately, as we have a system in place.

The staff at Silverwood Care Home gave empathy to not only my fathers care but also to the family this in itself made this difficult time easier to contemplate. All of my fathers needs/care were met to a very high standard. The staff were transparent in all aspects of my fathers care leaving none of
us wandering what was happening. In view of the whole process for my fathers care I cannot praise the staff enough in carrying out their duties. Many thanks to the Silverwood team.

My father was admitted for respite care after a course of radiotherapy. He was a reluctant resident at first due to his need to feel independent in his own home but soon warmed to the staff who went the extra mile. At all times they made all the family very welcome and we popped in at all times day
and night, nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately his condition deteriorated but due to the nursing care also offered on site after a short stay in hospital he came back to Silverwood where he sadly passed away. However, we as a family feel he had the best possible care at all times and we felt able to talk to the staff freely. They were like one big family and the chatter and atmosphere both in the care and nursing sides was like being in your own family home. I would not hesitate to recommend Silverwood, who gave me and my family excellent support through this very upsetting time. Once again thank you from the family.

My wife lost the use of her legs and has to rely on the staff for most things, i.e washing, dressing and toileting. Silverwood has taken a weight off my shoulders.

Debra Meynell

Job Title: Home Manager

“Kind care to me means going the extra mile for each individual and ensuring that they feel safe, respected and well cared for.”


After working as a Manager within residential and dementia care homes for the past 20 years, Debra has achieved many awards to highlight her commitment to kind care, such as Manager of the Year and Best Activities Provider.


As a dedicated healthcare professional, Debra has gained a wealth of experience in providing care to elderly people to help enrich their lives.


Debra closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that means they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoyed most about her role, Debra remarked: “I love being able to make a difference, as helping people fulfil their dreams as they get older is extremely important to me.”


Debra credits her biggest achievement to becoming a mother and grandmother.


Outside of work, Debra enjoys spending time with her seven grandchildren, teaching them how to bake and taking them to the park with her dog, DC.
