Silverwood Care Home has been amazing. My mother went to them for respite care in the 'West Wing' residential side back in April of this year. Sadly she had a stroke whilst there. But very fortunately for us, after some time in the hospital, she returned to Silverwood in the 'East Wing' nursing care.
All the staff we had the pleasure of meeting were kind, caring, compassionate, professional and showed great responsibility and pride in the care provided. (some going out of their way to be extra caring not just to our mum in her last few weeks with them but to our family and our needs). Thank you just does not seem to say enough for the way they made what is ultimately a very upsetting time as calm, peaceful and worry-free as possible.

My mother-in-law has been a resident at this care home for just over a week now. She seems very happy even though she is confused most of the time. The care she is getting is outstanding. Staff are friendly, the place is clean, and the grounds are well maintained. We would never have found this place
on our own; local help was non-existent. Thank you.

Silverwood Care Home cared for my Mum for the past two and a half years. Over this time (before covid restrictions limited visiting), I spent many hours with Mum and was able to observe the care given not just to her, but all residents in the lounge. The Manager and the Deputy are excellent and have
created a culture where all residents are treated with warmth, compassion, respect and really importantly, the place has a lovely sense of fun. The home offers a fantastic range of activities both within the care home and in normal times, trips out. These provided shared experiences and lovely memories (Mum would talk for weeks about visits from local school children, therapy dogs or exotic animals) which helped mum make friends with other residents. My work involves research and teaching on dementia care - what I've seen at Silverwood is person-centred dementia care at its best.

Mum moved in with her new family at Silverwood just over a year ago. I class them has her new family as the staff have treated Mum so well and cared for her just as if she was one of their relatives or loved ones. We weren't expecting Mum to be with us for longer than twelve weeks. Having been in the
hospital for a few weeks and us nearly losing her three times last year, we expected to be saying our goodbyes by the end of last year. However, Mum made it to see her Golden Wedding Anniversary with Dad, which fell on New Years Day - and even that was not too much trouble for the staff to make a memorable and happy occasion for us all, even making a cake for them.
Mum has thrived on the great love, care and patience shown to her the past few months. Nothing is ever too much trouble, when you ring up, ask a question or need something done. The past few weeks have been a challenge for everyone, but staff have gone above and beyond to keep residents safe, happy and comfortable.

My sister is a resident at Silverwood in Nottingham and the care and attention she received during the recent Coronavirus episode were outstanding. The staff, led by the manager were excellent, in fact, the improvement since she was appointed is visible everywhere. During this very difficult period,
the manager and the nurse left their families and moved into the care home to help manage the situation and dedicate themselves to looking after their residents 24/7. I was given both of their mobile numbers and they made themselves available at all hours for me to call for an update. The nurse was so patient and caring every time I called and the family and I will always appreciate their dedication and professionalism throughout this stressful period.

Aunt moved into Silverwood last July. Made very welcome by all the staff. Beautiful room kept very neat, tidy and clean. Lounge area comfy. Dining room clean at all times, good selection of meals cooked well. Visitors joined in tea breaks with tea/coffee and biscuits and afternoon cakes. Pleased with
the facilities, hairdressers, chiropody, trips out. Looked after well.

All the staff are friendly, helpful and professional in their positions. My mum was in this home for 3 years and I felt everyone cared and looked out for her in every possible way. The carers, seniors, nurses, management, laundry, kitchen, maintenance staff all took the time to acknowledge and treat

My mum is in Silverwood Care Home it's a lovely home she's been there about 8years she was 100 years old on 12th December the put on the most wonderful party buffet, artist, the mayor he was wonderful, champagne and the most beautiful cake, the evening post and had her card from the Queen framed wonderful.
If any problems soon sorted. A good entertainment lady, and a big thank you to the manager and all the staff for what they do to make everyone happy.

The staff are outstanding in their levels of compassionate attentive care. My mum spent the last 10 days of her life in East Lodge and was treated with gentleness, respect and good humour throughout that whole time.
I was less impressed with the agency nurses who didn't seem to fit in with the ethos
of clear and open communication that your employed nurses always maintained. My brother and I spent each night with mum and were able to observe how well other residents were cared for too.

All the staff were excellent and kept us informed at every stage during a very difficult time for the family.

My father was admitted to Silverwood for end of life care. Whilst sadly only in for a short time, I can honestly say that his care was first class and this alleviated a lot of our worry and anxiety during a difficult time. Staff were incredible - compassionate and caring to my dad and to us as a family.

I visit my mum on a regular basis and on what I see, I would say the level of care is good. Most of the staff are courteous and friendly. There are a number of staff that seem to be long-time served at Silverwood, others seem to come and go (high turnover). This is the only drawback I can pick out.

In the last few months, there is a marked change at Silverwood.
The home is fresher and more inviting. The staff appear more motivated.
My father responds to the staff in a way that is heartwarming. They are brilliant with him.

My brother had been to seven different care homes within a two year period. This one was by far the best nursing home. The staff, from management down to the office staff and cleaners, are excellent. The kindness shown to all visiting family by nurses and carers made our visits more pleasurable. When
referring to Silverwood, he always said home, so that speaks volumes.

Job Title: Home Manager

“Kind care to me means going the extra mile for each individual and ensuring that they feel safe, respected and well cared for.”


After working as a Manager within residential and dementia care homes for the past 20 years, Debra has achieved many awards to highlight her commitment to kind care, such as Manager of the Year and Best Activities Provider.


As a dedicated healthcare professional, Debra has gained a wealth of experience in providing care to elderly people to help enrich their lives.


Debra closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that means they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoyed most about her role, Debra remarked: “I love being able to make a difference, as helping people fulfil their dreams as they get older is extremely important to me.”


Debra credits her biggest achievement to becoming a mother and grandmother.


Outside of work, Debra enjoys spending time with her seven grandchildren, teaching them how to bake and taking them to the park with her dog, DC.
