The care my wife receives is relevant to her needs. Most staff are able to recognise her needs. Personal hygiene good but could be improved on. Her room and surroundings are kept nice.

Satisfactory on the whole. Tops of ointment tubes often left off. Mum is on pureed food which never seems appetising. The health worker who reviewed her swallowing suggested mashed banana and ready brek to the kitchen but this has not been followed up. Drinks thickened too much at times.

Thank you for your comments.
We can confirm that we have looked into the issues that have been raised.

We are sorry that tops have been found open on tubes of cream. A new system has been put into place to ensure that creams and ointments are stored away from resident bedrooms in a treatment...

Mum has recently moved from Autumn to Spring, she has been a resident for 3 years.

Mum is extremely happy on this unit it is nicely decorated with lots of little touches that help when you have dementia i.e different coloured doors, memory boxes, black and white photos and past years memorabilia that the elderly can relate to. The lounge and dinning room areas are bright and inviting, mums room is bright she has her own en-suite and we have personalised her room with her photos soft furnishing etc.

The staff are cheerful and very accommodating the senior in charge is lovely and is very passionate about the job she does and she cares very much about the residents.

The entertainment is good with various events taking place mum in particular enjoys the singers who entertain with music from days gone bye and a dance the entertainment staff are enthusiastic and encourage residents to join in.

I do hope that the management resolve its current problems restoring the homes reputation.

The carers are extremely kind and try to help the residents to be content and happy. They (the carers) are always pleasant and cheerful and willing to go "that extra step" to support the relatives as well as the residents. The management have an "opendoor" policy so if someone does have a problem they can be seen to as soon as possible.

I feel the home on the whole has improved, but have issues with the agency nurses on evenings. I've just had a bad incident concerning my husband. The nurse on duty could not change his belly bag. I find that very disturbing. This is not the first time this has happened to my husband, having to go to hospital about the same thing.

Reply from HC-One, Careline Team at Bright Meadows Care Home

We take on board the comments on this review. We do currently use agency staff alongside our own staff. We are actively recruiting into vacant posts however in the interim we must maintain safe staffing levels with the use of agency. This concern has been addressed formally through our complaints policy and the relevant Agency made aware of the incident formally.

I flew from the Isle of Man to visit my father, nobody knew me or that I was coming, the staff were informative friendly, helpful and they cared. The home smelt nice, is clean, have activity's they had a live singer at night, during their Christmas event, it had an overall feeling of happiness.

I am pleased that my Father is being cared for at Four Seasons, he was previously at another home, and this is twice the place, for quite a few reasons, is a very pleasant home.
