Having visited today 13th Nov 2017 as a representative for a resident I feel impelled to say how fantastic I found this home, the staff and the Home Manager. The home is always clean and tidy, the staff always polite and welcoming. There is always something going on, some activity or other every time
I have visited in the past. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone.

I came to visit my uncle yesterday, and could not believe the difference in him from a few weeks ago in hospital, he was looking well, and said how happy he was. All the staff were very helpful as were the ladies in the offices and the manager.

I visited my great granddad (Papa) recently at this care home on a special unit for people who have just come out of the hospital. My Papa was very worried about going to this home, you just think of these places with dread. The staff could not have made any of my family feel more welcome. The food
was fantastic, and he even enjoyed a person coming in singing to everyone. It is likely that he is going to need to go in a home in the future, and this place has now alleviated the fears as a family we had. If we need to look at a home in the future this is one we would consider, and would highly recommend to our friends. Thank you, everyone, for the good care you gave Papa.

I visited my friend today on Summer unit, how lovely, the manager greeted me with a lovely smile, I then went up to the floor and all the staff were very friendly, my friend told me how much she likes the home, and in particular a young care staff member, her room is lovely, and is always clean and
tidy every time I visit, and all the staff, there is always lots of things for her to do. What a lovely place.

I go every day to see my husband. Staff are welcoming and any concerns are dealt with by staff or management. My husband is well cared for and is engaged in activities most days. I am welcome to join in with anything. It is hard leaving him at the end of the afternoon but I know he is in good hands.

Due to difficulties in recruiting permanent staff during 2014-2015, 15 agency staff were used and a dip in standards ensued. However, a new manager was appointed and together with the appointment of new permanent staff Four Seasons has been brought back to its original excellent standards.

I've been very happy with the care my mother has received in the home since last November. The only issue I have is the loss of clothes. Not only have the staff been very caring with my mum they have interacted with me and kept me up to date with everything regarding her health, giving me encouragement
when my mum was quite poorly.
Reply from HC-One, Careline Team at Bright Meadows Care HomeThank you for your review. We take all concerns very seriously and apologise that some clothing has been lost. We have been trialling a new tagging system for labelling Resident's clothes which has proved effective, however, it is very time-consuming. We do ask that relatives help their loved ones, and our staff, by asking them to label the clothes. We would be very happy to help if this causes any difficulty for you. Thank you for your positive comments about the care your relative receives. We are delighted that you are happy with the kind and caring service you received.

Satisfied with the home and staff, give good overall care. However, I would like to see more encouragement and motivation to walk unaided by a wheelchair.
Reply from HC-One, Careline Team at Bright Meadows Care HomeThank you for taking the time to complete a review. We really value the feedback provided by those who use our services.
Thank you for raising your concerns and we are very sorry if this is your experience. Our staff at Four Seasons fully supports the encouragement of motivating our Residents to mobilise safely, if they are physically able and their medical condition allows them to. We aim to provide the necessary care, documented therapy input, based on the on-going support, assessment and expertise from the multi-disciplinary community physiotherapy teams visiting our residents here at Four Seasons Care Home. Since your mum has been at Four Seasons we have actively being working with the Community Physiotherapy Team who have visited your mom to carry out an assessment to define and explore your mothers mobility needs and abilities. The next stage of her rehabilitation will be dependent on the findings and results of recent medical investigations.
The Home manager operates an open door policy. Please feel free to call in any time to discuss any concerns you may have.

On visiting Auntie, I could not believe the difference. She was dancing and singing. I have never seen her like this before. She was always introverted and the thought of getting up to dance anywhere brought on traumas. She is so different to this time last year when we thought we were looking for her
end of life care.

My wife has been a resident in The Winter unit of over six years and nine months. During the early years, Four Seasons was part of another care home group, which collapsed financially with very serious consequences. After HC-One took over the home improved steadily, with much better facilities, and
in a more stable condition. HC-One established a new management team at the beginning of this year, and under the new home manager, every aspect of the home has been assessed and a plan to further improve the homes standards has been actioned. Some of the carers problems are of long standing but the bad apples are gradually being dismissed, and some first class, new staff have been recruited.

My mother is well cared for and if she has a medical problem nursing staff are quite capable of dealing with it. If not, there is no hesitation and a GP is called to visit her. Food is very good with a choice every day. There is ample entertainment although she will not always join in with it which
is a pity. She needs a push but maybe she is not pushed enough. Overall, this is a good home and I feel confident she is being looked after.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.150)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.150) out of 10 for Bright Meadows Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 41 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.150 for Bright Meadows Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (214 Excellents x 5) + (178 Goods x 4) + (56 Satisfactorys x 3) + (13 Poors x 2) + (20 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 481 Ratings = 4.15
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Meadows Care Home is based on 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 121 registered maximum number of service users is 24.2, which has been reached with 34 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
