As Dad has only been at Kenyon Lodge a short time and is still under review, I feel his care is very good.

Staff are getting used to his personality etc, but he is always in clean clothes and shaven. Carers are all very friendly and helpful when I visit.

Staff are trying to get to know my father during his assessment. By trying to understand his needs and help him settle into the home. They are being patient and understanding of his frustration and confusion and looking at ways of doing the best to care for him.

It is a bewildering time for my father and the staff at the home are adapting things to best care for him.

My dad settled well in the home. There were days when he didn't like it but overall he has been fine. The only thing I think is that his room could do with painting and the carpet cleaning, but that is down to him making a mess with biscuits.

Review from Judith H (Daughter of Resident) published on 10 May 2022 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

After contacting many homes, they all wanted to place my parents in separate units due to distinct separate needs. The manager at Kenyon Lodge was the only one who offered them the dignity of being able to go to bed and wake up in the same room. He offered this to me even before I requested it. They had one room as a sitting room and one as a bedroom. The most outstanding features of Kenyon Lodge include the superb attitude of management; the care that he extends to the residents; and the wonderfully kind and caring attitude of the nurses, care staff, administration and support staff. Very sadly, my mum passed away, but my dad remains at Kenyon Lodge. Whilst my mum was on end-of-life, the manager and his staff extended an extremely high level of practical and emotional support. I felt I was surrounded and supported by the Kenyon Lodge family. We all know that no place is like a person’s own home, but my parents received the highest quality care and I knew that they were safe, secure and well cared for.

My mum has been a resident for only a few months. The main concern is the lack of staff. The staff are good, but, I don't accept that due to the number of staff my mum was to stay in her bed for days on end. In order for Mum to be in better health, she needs to be out of bed, be sociable and interact with others. To reiterate, staff are good, just not enough of them, which is unacceptable.

Overall I'm extremely satisfied with the care provided at Kenyon Lodge. I had an issue about lack of communication between staff and myself on a couple of occasions when my mum was poorly. I addressed my concerns with staff and this has now been resolved satisfactorily.

Quite satisfied with the conditions at Kenyon Lodge. A lot of things are not consistent, eg meals; some days are really nice, a lot are poor quality and cold. Some days there doesn't seem to be enough carers. I do understand everything is hard in many ways, but certain standards should be maintained.
