We were so pleased with the overall care of my mum. The care home staff and facilities were excellent. We were so happy that my mum was in a good place and I was able to relax and enjoy my respite knowing my mum was well cared for. Will definitely use Kenyon Lodge again for respite.

The carers are good. The home itself is really in need of refurbishing - find the lounge is too small to get patients in and out (fire hazard). Need to have some chairs (stacking) for visitors. Activities need stepping up - more interaction with patients.

The care that our mother receives is excellent in every way. It is such a relief for my sister and I to know that our mum is being cared for by such kind, caring and friendly staff in a warm, clean and safe environment.

We find staff and nursing staff to be very caring and respectful. They work very hard to make dad feel comfortable.

The home has been falling in standards for the last 6 months. There appears to be a problem with having enough staff to take proper care of the residents and often when visiting after work, I can be stood outside waiting to get into the building for 10 minutes. There needs to be a huge improvement before
I would recommend anyone. Let's hope it happens.

I would like to thank the staff for all that they do for my stepmother, they go out of their way to see her and when she went into hospital, they didn't leave her until she was on a ward. I went to see her while she was in hospital and they were so good with her, a male carer was there and when she
sees him her face lights up. I visited her today and he came to see her even though he was working elsewhere, he held her hand and this was nice to see.

I've heard a lot of negativity about this home and having spent the last two and half years visiting almost daily whilst my mother was there I find it difficult to accept this negativity. I agree there are areas that could improve and you will always get lazy uncaring staff but there are a lot of good
carers there and my mum was looked after. I certainly wouldn't have left my mum had I not been confident that any issues we as a family may have had were dealt with. My issue was with management which was not always visible or constructive, too many managers have passed through in the last 12 months, it needs stabilising. This home has the facilities to be a great home. Its location and grounds are lovely, it just needs more staff and strong management.

I would like to comment on the care and support by the care workers who looked after our late Mum. The staff are dedicated and work extremely hard. On occasions when staffing levels were low they continued to provide care and support to the residents and their families. We were guided and supported
with great compassion right to the very end of our Mums life. We were all looked after in a manner that should be commended, Mum's care was always a priority and without the carers support the whole family would have been lost. Representatives from the home attended Mums funeral and it was a privilege to have them with us.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.421)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.421) out of 10 for Kenyon Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.571 for Kenyon Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (130 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 175 Ratings = 4.571
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kenyon Lodge is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
