My mum passed away on the 12th of June 2024, everybody, carers, the wellbeing coordinator, nurses and the manager, was absolutely fantastic. The wellbeing coordinator was amazing with my mum, she made sure that my mum interacted with the activities and made every effort to do her nails, and called into
her room and had a chat. I would definitely recommend Pendleton Court. They make you feel so welcome.
Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Pendleton Court Care HomeWe are pleased to hear you were very happy with the quality of care your mum received at Pendleton Court Care Home, It means so much to our colleagues when they receive this level of praise; they work tirelessly throughout the year to deliver the kindest possible care to residents. Moved my mother-in-law into the home in July. We were all very nervous as she has expressed a great dislike for homes. She struggled to settle in for the first few days however the carers made it very easy for us to check in on her when we weren't around.

The staff at Pendleton Court have been fantastic so far, both to my mum and our family. It was a big decision to move Mum to a home and despite a challenging first week, Mum has started to really settle after 3-4 weeks. the staff have been very attentive to my mum and her needs and I can't thank them
enough! As a family, we feel assured that Mum is receiving the care she needs. We're hopeful that from the support and care, Mum will be able to come out of the shell that her dementia had created.

My mum's care in the home was good, had no real complaints in the ten years she was there. Staff on the whole were okay but there were always a lot of staff changes and management. Two things I would say is when my mum passed I would have liked an information sheet with phone numbers of what happens
next. Secondly, the laundry clothes were not put back tidily in the drawer and wardrobe.
Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Pendleton Court Care HomeThank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. Your feedback about an information sheet being available is something we are currently working on to provide details on the next steps for families following the loss of a loved one. We hope you will accept our apology that your mother's laundry was not always put away. We have shared this with our housekeeping team, and we will monitor this going forward to ensure improvements are made. Please accept our condolences again on the passing of your mother.

My husband was in Pendleton from April to December 2023. Staff on the whole quite good but relied on my help as I visited every day. Last 2 months were confined to his bed, as he was likely to fall. When I arrived I got him up and made sure he had his meals before I went home. Care satisfactory but
not like home.
Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Pendleton Court Care HomeThank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. We understand how difficult it can be when a loved one moves into a care home, and we sometimes will ask the family to support us if we feel this will benefit the resident. We apologise you felt the care staff relied on your support and that the care setting was not 'home'. We have shared this with the team as we constantly seek to improve the service we provide. Please be assured our aim is to always ensure the safety, wellbeing and comfort of those in our care. Should you wish to speak with us regarding these matters, please do contact the home so that this can be arranged.

The decoration of my room and the bringing in of the cake plus a present was a complete surprise, thank you to all. I have asked my friend to bring in some cakes for the staff and they enjoyed them. Thank you to the chef for making and icing my round cake. It was delicious.

My friend was surprised by the staff bringing in a cake with a candle, and singing Happy Birthday. Earlier in the day his room had been decorated with banners (activities). He also received toiletries and socks. On a separate note, in all my working life, when food/drinks/sweets etc. were given to all
the staff. I have never seen nor heard of staff actually sharing. All the signs around the home remind us to be kind and your staff are living proof. I had given two long sponge cakes for the staff and yes, they all shared.

In general, in challenging conditions, the staff do a very good job. I have observed that a large proportion of residents spend most of their time in the confines of their rooms, especially at the weekend.
Reply from Julie Caygill, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Pendleton Court Care HomeThank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required and we can learn from this. We are pleased you feel our home colleagues do a good job; we will share your positive comments with them. We encourage raising any concerns to the Home Manager in the first instance and would be happy to facilitate a meeting to this end if you think this will be of benefit. Some of our residents choose or need to remain in their rooms for various reasons and we will always promote independence and choice for our Pendleton Court residents. Staff do encourage people to join in communal areas to maximise quality of life and reduce isolation and this is monitored regularly including weekend visits by the Home Manager.

It is a good home with nice staff. However, my mum's food is always cold as she is the last to be served. Staff do help but sometimes take a while to open the door at the front.
Reply from Julie Caygill, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Pendleton Court Care HomeThank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required and we can learn from this. We are delighted you think Pendleton Court is a good care home; this will be shared with the staff team who work hard to provide kind, quality care. We encourage in the first instance reaching out to the home manager if you have any concerns; we would be happy to facilitate a meeting if you feel this would be beneficial. Food is prepared to the correct temperature and is also checked during the serving process. Your comments have been shared with the team so they can make certain your mother's food is as it should be. The team will endeavour to answer the door in as timely a manner as possible though on occasion a longer wait may be experienced due to the demands of the business.

My uncle has been a resident since December 2020. Overall, I am extremely happy with the care that he receives, particularly from one of the registered nurses - she completely gets him and recognises his moods and triggers caused by his dementia. The well-being coordinator is also very supportive and
an integral part of his care. The rooms are currently being refurbished and this will be a vast improvement. My uncle's dietary requirements are strict and these are well-managed. I feel supported in the decisions that I have to make regarding his care and am confident that he is safe and well looked after when I leave him.

Excellent Birthday celebrations! Was so much more than I expected. Singer was fab! Staff were brilliant, well organised. Involving all the residents. One member of staff was great getting folk up to dance and sing. The area was decorated lovely. And a high cake with candles was the highlight with the
staff and everyone singing Happy Birthday. It was a very special day for our mum. It was the most awake I've seen her. Well done team!

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.565)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.565) out of 10 for Pendleton Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 56 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 56 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.565 for Pendleton Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (413 Excellents x 5) + (212 Goods x 4) + (30 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 660 Ratings = 4.565
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pendleton Court Care Home is based on 56 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 58 registered maximum number of service users is 11.6, which has been reached with 56 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
