The staff are always very helpful and always pleasant, happy and friendly. They have made a real lovely effort on Mum's Birthday to make her feel special. The gardens are so lovely too and it's so nice to be able to take Mum outside in such pleasant grounds.
We are very happy with out choice of home
for our mum.
Thank you so much, everyone.

My husband was admitted to Pendleton Court after being assessed in hospital and was deemed to be unsafe at home. It was a very difficult time for both of us, but the carers on the dementia unit have been kindness itself to him, even when he can be a little aggressive. I appreciate all they do and feel
he is safe there. The carers work hard. I hope management appreciates their commitment to the residents.

No structure below the management level. Carers are left to their own devices, with no set procedures. Housekeeper responsibility for what areas? Dignity attitude and proper caring have varying levels between carers. They tend to talk at residents instead of to them. Dementia residents have a vast variance
in their personal condition so they cannot all be treated in the same way. They are not all deaf! And the tone of voice can get them off to a good start or make them feel uneasy when talking 'over them' been there done that, got the tee shirt! Communication between carers is poor. The temporary managers and assistant manager have already made inroads - the 'dining room workbook'. I attend Pendleton Court 20-25 hours per week and when I leave I feel confident that she will be looked after.
Not happy with the X-in-box system I think 1-10 is more accurate.
Reply from Diane Kerwin, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Pendleton Court Care HomeThank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. We are sorry you feel there is no structure below management. The home is supported by nurses and senior care assistants on every shift on every unit, and care staff and housekeeping colleagues are allocated daily. I have managed Pendleton Court for the past couple of months and I enjoy and encourage your visits as does the staff team. We also value your input and welcome your ideas on where we can improve the home and we are thankful you recognise the improvements we have already made. I would like you to continue your visits and I am happy to speak with you about these matters. Should you wish to discuss your concerns with senior management, please contact Area Director Jo Ashcroft at HC-One Ltd, Southgate House, Archer Street, Darlington, DL3 6AH.

Since my mother arrived, she's been given a new lease of life. The facilities are very homely, and the staff are excellent. She's very happy and comfortable here, so a great big thank you to all for looking after her so well.
Extra thanks to the manager and two other members of staff, very professional
and a credit to your company.

Mum has been a resident since March 2021 after a short stay in hospital where it was decided it was no longer safe for her to live on her own. She settled very quickly into Pendleton Court and has been very contented throughout her time there. The staff are lovely. They obviously care for mum and make
me and my family very welcome on our weekly visits. They have done their very best throughout the pandemic to protect staff and residents, but also to give families access to their loved ones when circumstances have allowed and this has been really appreciated. I have received regular newsletters showing the different activities that have been organised and that mum had been involved in. Special thanks for the WhatsApp photos of mum. They have been lovely to receive and really made a difference.

My father has dementia and a number of health difficulties. One evening I called down the corridor as my father was in some distress, a nurse stopped what she was doing and immediately comforted and cared for my father. I later found out this was the Manager who was actually not on duty - outstanding!
I should also mention the compassion one nurse showed not just to my father but what I have witnessed at this home to other patients.
I have also recommended this care home to a family on my street whose father too is having health difficulties.
Thank you to the Manger, the nurses, and the staff who look after my father.
I would also like to mention that they have regularly kept me informed of his situation concerning all his medicines. A big thank you.

Mum has settled well into the home, believing it is her home. Mum has dementia, which is difficult for our family. Since January the support staff have got used to her mannerisms, reading her like a book. They are able to get her to smile again, crack jokes and even manage to satisfy her sweet tooth.
Unlike many homes, they understand the importance of a loved one's family. Opening up to face to face visits quickly and now allowing us to take mum out and about. Staff keep us updated, share precious moments via WhatsApp and when things go wrong, stay with my mum at the hospital, staying past their finishing time - as they care. Although many of the staff we haven't seen, it will be nice to put faces to names soon. Absolutely, pleased and made our 'guilt' at putting mum into a home easier, knowing they care and she is settled. Thank you.

I have worked very closely with the activities coordinator to bring a bit of fun and happiness to the residents with donations of Christmas gifts, drinks and keeping morale high through the lockdown. Before covid, I had the pleasure of meeting residents regularly at the monthly tea dance Swinton Palais,
they are all very happy and well cared for and nothing is too much trouble for the team at Pendleton Court. Looking forward to seeing them all again when things get back to normal.

I have had association with Pendleton Court for several years and have always found the staff committed to the well-being of the residents. The home itself is well presented and very welcoming. The staff work tirelessly to maintain dignity and interact with the residents in a positive way. Prior to
the pandemic, there were various forms of entertainment to motivate and help maintain the social interaction with the residents including days out and social afternoons. During the pandemic the Activity Coordinator has diversified their approach to the activities offered to the residents to maintain positive outcomes. By networking with various local community groups there has been constant support for the residents in the forms of Treat afternoons, Christmas Gifts, Easter gifts, Mother's day treats, social media musical concerts, Baby Therapy dolls and many more. A very positive place with the resident's health and well-being paramount.

My mum moved into Pendleton Court on 29/11/2020 after a failed sheltered accommodation experience and a rather distressing few weeks in the hospital. Mum has dementia, and the lockdown has affected her quite badly. We viewed suitable homes via Zoom, which in itself was quite difficult.
We chose Pendleton
Court after a zoom viewing with one lady who is in charge of entertainment. We just loved how she organised entertainment for the residents within the Covid restrictions. Mum has settled really well into Pendleton Court, and this is due to how lovely all the staff are, but in particular, how fabulous she and her team are in keeping the residents entertained. Mum always looks lovely, and the longer she is there, the more settled she is. Yes, she has bad days due to her dementia, but she is now having more good days once again. Pendleton Court has taken the worries we had away. She is safe and always looks lovely. Mum says the food is lovely. Not been into Pendleton Court yet due to Covid, so the next questions are the best guess.

My uncle had to move in to care just before Christmas 2020 after some time in hospital. It has been a very difficult time because I haven't been able to visit him in the hospital or in the care home due to covid restrictions. This has been impacted further by the fact that I live in the south of England
and have been unable to travel out of my area due to lockdown. Having said that, the staff at Pendleton Court have been brilliant. I send my uncle a letter each week via one of the carers, which she kindly prints off for me. She then sends me photos of him receiving the post, as well as other photos of him getting fresh air, having a coffee etc. In addition to this, I and other members of our family have regular Zoom calls with him. It was his birthday recently, and everyone made a fuss and decorated his room with balloons. He looks happy and well. We are all really grateful to the staff at Pendleton Court for their kindness and care, and I am looking forward to seeing him in person soon.

Mum moved into Pendleton Court after a very traumatic period during lockdown where her dementia deteriorated significantly over a very short period of time. In her previous placement, lockdown resulted in the closure of all activities and the restaurant. Since moving to Pendleton Court, what a difference!
The new manager filled us with confidence, and the care and support offered by all staff from the top-down, along with the wide range of activities on offer have really settled Mum down quickly. The activities coordinator leads a full range of activities with enthusiasm and sends us photos and videos each week to show what Mum is up to. Mum says the food is lovely, and it's so nice not to have to cook for myself. We haven't yet been able to see inside, and whilst the outside may need a little TLC, it's what's on the inside that counts. We've got our mum back, calm, happy and making friends. Great care is given in very difficult circumstances. Thank you, everyone!

I'm very impressed with the care that my mum and dad have receiving from Pendleton Court Salford. The care staff at the care home, are very polite, curious and very professional. They all go out of their way to help and assist with my parent's care. Unfortunately, my dad passed away on the 12th of January
2021, after only spending 20-days with my mum. The whole family were devastated. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They guided us through the process of what we should be doing. One lady at the care home has taken my mum under her wing and has gone that extra mile to make sure that my mum is felt wanted and not left on her own through this very difficult time. The care home sent her to my dad's funeral, to help and assist with my mum, which we appreciate. We are constantly getting regular updates on my mum, regarding her health and all the activities that my mum gets involved with. A big thank you to the manager and all the care staff, but especially one particular lady.

My review is based on the last 3-months. My mum has been in Pendleton Court for nearly 11-months... 2 weeks before Covid hit us all. All the staff at the home are great and work extremely hard. They have a great entertainment coordinator who keeps the residents engaged in varied activities. Thank you

Our mum was transferred to Pendleton Court in December following a long stay in hospital. Although initially discharged to the home for residential and respite care, mum really needed nursing care which the team acted on straight away. As a family, we were constantly informed of mum’s condition. The
level of care and compassion given to mum and all the family from staff both on residential and nursing was first class. Their key focus was making sure that mum was kept as comfortable and as pain-free as possible, whilst always treating her with complete and utter dignity. Her wellbeing was always their priority. Whilst the care for mum was key, the support and compassion we received from the manager and all her team at Pendleton Court was over and above our expectations. As a family, we take great comfort from the fact that our mum had the best possible care in the last few months before she sadly passed away and we will be forever grateful for all the team at Pendleton Court.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.558)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.558) out of 10 for Pendleton Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 56 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 56 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.558 for Pendleton Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (411 Excellents x 5) + (211 Goods x 4) + (33 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 660 Ratings = 4.558
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pendleton Court Care Home is based on 56 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 58 registered maximum number of service users is 11.6, which has been reached with 56 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
