My mum moved into Pendleton Court on 29/11/2020 after a failed sheltered accommodation experience and a rather distressing few weeks in the hospital. Mum has dementia, and the lockdown has affected her quite badly. We viewed suitable homes via Zoom, which in itself was quite difficult.
We chose Pendleton
Court after a zoom viewing with one lady who is in charge of entertainment. We just loved how she organised entertainment for the residents within the Covid restrictions. Mum has settled really well into Pendleton Court, and this is due to how lovely all the staff are, but in particular, how fabulous she and her team are in keeping the residents entertained. Mum always looks lovely, and the longer she is there, the more settled she is. Yes, she has bad days due to her dementia, but she is now having more good days once again. Pendleton Court has taken the worries we had away. She is safe and always looks lovely. Mum says the food is lovely. Not been into Pendleton Court yet due to Covid, so the next questions are the best guess.

My uncle had to move in to care just before Christmas 2020 after some time in hospital. It has been a very difficult time because I haven't been able to visit him in the hospital or in the care home due to covid restrictions. This has been impacted further by the fact that I live in the south of England
and have been unable to travel out of my area due to lockdown. Having said that, the staff at Pendleton Court have been brilliant. I send my uncle a letter each week via one of the carers, which she kindly prints off for me. She then sends me photos of him receiving the post, as well as other photos of him getting fresh air, having a coffee etc. In addition to this, I and other members of our family have regular Zoom calls with him. It was his birthday recently, and everyone made a fuss and decorated his room with balloons. He looks happy and well. We are all really grateful to the staff at Pendleton Court for their kindness and care, and I am looking forward to seeing him in person soon.

Mum moved into Pendleton Court after a very traumatic period during lockdown where her dementia deteriorated significantly over a very short period of time. In her previous placement, lockdown resulted in the closure of all activities and the restaurant. Since moving to Pendleton Court, what a difference!
The new manager filled us with confidence, and the care and support offered by all staff from the top-down, along with the wide range of activities on offer have really settled Mum down quickly. The activities coordinator leads a full range of activities with enthusiasm and sends us photos and videos each week to show what Mum is up to. Mum says the food is lovely, and it's so nice not to have to cook for myself. We haven't yet been able to see inside, and whilst the outside may need a little TLC, it's what's on the inside that counts. We've got our mum back, calm, happy and making friends. Great care is given in very difficult circumstances. Thank you, everyone!

I'm very impressed with the care that my mum and dad have receiving from Pendleton Court Salford. The care staff at the care home, are very polite, curious and very professional. They all go out of their way to help and assist with my parent's care. Unfortunately, my dad passed away on the 12th of January
2021, after only spending 20-days with my mum. The whole family were devastated. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They guided us through the process of what we should be doing. One lady at the care home has taken my mum under her wing and has gone that extra mile to make sure that my mum is felt wanted and not left on her own through this very difficult time. The care home sent her to my dad's funeral, to help and assist with my mum, which we appreciate. We are constantly getting regular updates on my mum, regarding her health and all the activities that my mum gets involved with. A big thank you to the manager and all the care staff, but especially one particular lady.

My review is based on the last 3-months. My mum has been in Pendleton Court for nearly 11-months... 2 weeks before Covid hit us all. All the staff at the home are great and work extremely hard. They have a great entertainment coordinator who keeps the residents engaged in varied activities. Thank you
to all at Pendleton Court.

Our mum was transferred to Pendleton Court in December following a long stay in hospital. Although initially discharged to the home for residential and respite care, mum really needed nursing care which the team acted on straight away. As a family, we were constantly informed of mum’s condition. The
level of care and compassion given to mum and all the family from staff both on residential and nursing was first class. Their key focus was making sure that mum was kept as comfortable and as pain-free as possible, whilst always treating her with complete and utter dignity. Her wellbeing was always their priority. Whilst the care for mum was key, the support and compassion we received from the manager and all her team at Pendleton Court was over and above our expectations. As a family, we take great comfort from the fact that our mum had the best possible care in the last few months before she sadly passed away and we will be forever grateful for all the team at Pendleton Court.

My mother was in fairly urgent need of respite care and this was our first time entering this world and it was a daunting prospect to try to find a facility that would be safe, provide excellent care and treat her with the respect she deserves, especially considering we couldn't visit and look around
any properties. We decided on Pendleton, mainly based on reviews, the locality to us, their excellent communication and the "look" of the place. Our initial 2 week period has passed and she has now been a respite resident for 4 weeks (and counting) and there has been a remarkable improvement in her mental and physical wellbeing. She is well cared for, well fed and well entertained. The communication with the staff has been first class, as we have navigated GP's, chemists, Social Services and Covid vaccines together. I would also like to add a mention for the team member who leads her care team as she has been my point of contact and even provided me with pics from her hair and nail salon session.

I have not been able to go to the home to visit my mum since the middle of March but before that, I found the home to be a friendly environment - the cafe especially. I like the entertainment they have and the different people like animals coming to visit. I used to like the paintings on the wall and
the things they used to make, but the management made them take the paintings etc off the wall saying it is demeaning but as a visitor, I thought it was a lovely gesture because my mum has vascular dementia and is going backwards to when she was a child. To see what the home has achieved in bringing my mum (they have even got her singing the old songs) some kind of a life that should not be taken away from them. The carers in the home are great even down to the lady in the laundry. I think there could be a bit more variety in the meals, I bet you could count on one hand how many of this generation eat curry and yet that is on the menu.
Reply from Diane Kerwin, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Pendleton Court Care HomeThank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. We really appreciate your positive comments about our care home and especially about the activities that take place. We continue to provide a range of different activities, albeit in slightly different ways in these challenging times. We have had to review the displaying of resident art and craftworks in order to meet with fire safety, health and safety and infection control guidelines. Moving forward we aim to have a dedicated art gallery for our residents, where pictures can be properly displayed in frames, which we hope will do justice to their creative skills. We have worked with the kitchen team to ensure they provide our winter menu in full, so there are variety and choice for all our residents. Whilst curry may not be everyone’s choice it could be someone’s favourite. We look forward to seeing all of our relatives again soon, as we plan for our indoor visiting.

My complaints whatsoever. I have peace of mind knowing that my Aunt is being well looked after in Pendleton Court. All the staff are very courteous and caring. The place has a very friendly atmosphere. My Mum spent the last 2 years of her life here and was looked after with care and dignity so I had
no hesitation in applying for a place here when my Auntie needed to go into residential care.

My mum has experienced respite care, day care and very recently, nursing care at Pendleton Court.
The care home is extremely well run and the staff are very competent.
The care manager is absolutely excellent at her job and delivers a first class service and I know she wouldn't expect anything less
from her staff.
I've put my faith in Pendleton Court to take good care of the thing that matters most to me in my life - my mum. And my mind was made up in seconds that Pendleton Court would be the right place for her.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.592)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.592) out of 10 for Pendleton Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 58 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 58 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.592 for Pendleton Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (440 Excellents x 5) + (213 Goods x 4) + (27 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 684 Ratings = 4.592
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pendleton Court Care Home is based on 58 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 59 registered maximum number of service users is 11.8, which has been reached with 58 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
