Generally a very good experience. Our experience of facilities at the home is limited as we only get to see a small number of rooms during visits. Access to management is good and response times are prompt and the staff are friendly and welcoming.

Mum has been a resident for one month so far. The staff are always friendly. Mum looks well cared for. Clear records in the room. Managers are friendly, approachable and communicative. Difficult to comment on activities due to the short residence. The food I have seen looks good. Good that the building
is having ongoing improvements.

All the staff at The Willows Care Home have been great with me and the family. From going through the front door, you are made to feel very welcome. I would like to mention how the staff put a lot of effort into giving all the residents a good time over Christmas with a party and dressing up and going
round to every room singing carols and bringing presents.
As you can see, I give The Willows 5 stars all the way through because they have looked after my father from day one with round-the-clock care.

The manager, her assistant and all the staff are exceedingly pleasant and helpful. My wife, who is in nursing care, always tells me the staff and even the cleaners are caring and helpful. My wife is 90 per cent better since entering The Willows from hospital.

My cousin was admitted to hospital and was very poorly. When I came to the home today, I was extremely pleased to see how well my cousin looked. He was happy, smiley and talking again. So pleased my cousin has the care and attention from all the staff, it is the best care home he has lived in. Thank
you all so much.

Unfortunately, due to covid, I have not been able to access the care home. But staff have been so helpful when I have been to visit or have been very helpful with me over the phone. My brother-in-law has been in the home for 18 months, so it has been a very trying time for us. The staff at the home
must be meeting his every need, as when he arrived here he was classed as terminal. There was a couple of issues regarding clothes, but this was amicably remedied. So hopefully, now restrictions are easing, life will get better for both.

From what I have seen in only three weeks, it ticks most of the boxes. The staff are friendly and caring, albeit not enough of them, at times. The rooms are basic but adequate. It would be better if the residents could choose meals in advance. All in all, a nice place.

My gran was recently a resident in this home. Unfortunately, she had moved here during COVID times and had given up her home as she needed the care.
I found the communication minimal considering we weren't allowed in to see her. I thought this would have been much better. We were constantly on the
phone asking questions and made out like we were pestering when we just wanted to know how she was. We were always told she was 'fine' though she told us completely different.
Strict visiting rules during the week with LFT test and PPE then at a weekend no one bothered? Never consistent.
Unfortunately, my Gran is no longer with us, and was disappointed by the care she received much lower level than we were expecting, looking at the Unity website with some of their key messages transparent and attention to detail, this is not something we saw. On collecting her belongings either missing or ripped - no care at all.

Overall, I find this care home adequate for the needs of my mother. I did however find that her bedroom was basic with no toilet facilities except for a commode. I did find some incidents of clothing going missing, which was daily reported to the management, which they dealt with. Although I have recently
been allowed to see my mother via a glad partition, I am still not completely allowed to see her because of Covid restrictions. I find that the staff are generally looking after Mum to do the best of their ability. The management is always on hand should I have an issue to raise.

The Willows residence is such an amazing place for my mum to go for respite. The staff are amazing, and nothing is to much trouble. When Mum goes there for a break, she feels they are like family to her and me. I feel relaxed and know she will receive the best of care. They have lots of activities to
help Mum feel motivated and involved. The management and her staff are second to none. They helped me with this transition as anyone caring for a person with Alzheimer's will be aware of the stress involved. Thank you to The Willows and all the staff.

I am fortunate enough to live within walking distance of the home, so I can usually see my father as often as I like. Someone will always answer the door, any time, day or night. His room and bathroom are ample in size, and we are able to decorate to his liking to keep it as comfortable as possible.

Currently,

due to heavy COVID restrictions, I have been unable to see him in person. I can't describe how comforting it is to know he is safe and warm and well looked after. He has had no disruption to his day or routine, and it is equally comforting to know he is not stressed by the current situation. I have been able to book "FaceTime" appointments whenever possible, and the team are always present and able to help him access the iPad or the phone. Similarly, I have been able to drop off any things I buy for him, so I know he is not missing out on his favourite treats.

I get regular updates from their Facebook page, too. It's a massive help.

Reply from Jagjit Sandher, Operations Director at The Willows Care HomeThank you for your review and kind words, Jenny. We hope to have you visiting your dad very soon.

My mum went into this care home and to me, it's the worse thing had to do in my life, I went around looking at various care homes 20+. I found that this care home was the best one I looked at, the minute I went in, it felt so homely, the staff warm and friendly. As my mum has been there a few months
now I have realized the staff and manager go above and beyond expectations of a care home. The food is brilliant, the rooms are kept clean and are a decent size, there is always things to do for the residents with the staff, for example with the problem with covid we can't go in and the staff take it on themselves to entertain the residents. I appreciate everything they do and the commitment they all make to the residents. Five out of five stars or 10/10 can't recommend this place enough for their passion to look after all their residents. It doesn't feel like a care home it feels more like a retirement home, and me and my family are so grateful for all who work there. Thank you to everyone.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.833)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.833) out of 10 for The Willows Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.883 for The Willows Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (188 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 213 Ratings = 4.883
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Willows Care Home is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
