The care home looked after my father in the last few months of his life and did a great job. Especially given the difficult circumstances of his dementia and the wider issue surrounding covid19 this year.

I have been going along with other volunteers from the local church (Davenport Methodist) for a number of years now. We hold a short service every month and in the last year, I have been privileged to be one of the people to lead the service. It has been a great pleasure to come to Bamford Grange. The staff, particularly the member of staff who does all the co-ordinating, have been very welcoming. The residents seem to be well cared for and there are some lovely characters, who despite their health, always make us smile. It has been very hard not to be able to visit and I do miss them.
I have been very impressed with the way the staff do a variety of activities with them - seeing some of the faces we know from our visits is a great joy.
I went to the funeral of one of the residents and she had said that her last years at Bamford Grange were the happiest years of her life.

That shows how good it is.

When my father first moved in we were pleased with his care, but in the last 6 months there's been a few issues, No permanent manager which resulted in issues not being resolved, staff shortage has meant basic care needs are not being met, for an example not being shaved every day, nails not being cut on a regular basis. In recent months the nutritional value of food in the home has deteriorated and with having no permanent manager has meant this isn't being addressed. The care staff do a brilliant under the difficult circumstance they treat my dad like family.

Overall Experience

This care home was great for my father in the first 2 years, since a big change in management which has chopped and changed every 3 months or so, my fathers care has become completely substandard to the point where basic care needs are not being met. I’ve spoken to management about this, they’ve chosen to deal with this in the worst way possible. They intimidate and bully relatives who are already in a vulnerable state. If I could choose again I would certainly not choose this place.

My wife has been a resident at Bamford Grange since November 2018 and I am very satisfied with the care she is receiving. The carers are absolutely great and management could not be better.

I can't praise the nursing staff enough who are quick to pick up on any signs of pain or discomfort and take appropriate action needed.

Our mum came to live in Bamford Grange five weeks ago. We were unsure if this was the right decision at the time but from the day she arrived, we have been so impressed at how calm and settled Mum is.

The staff are attentive, caring and very professional, at last, we feel as though we can relax knowing she is being well looked after. Thank you, everyone at Bamford Grange, especially the staff of Windsor Unit.

Management never met Manager. She has always dealt with any problems promptly and satisfactory. Not shaved every day. Cleanliness - bed tray needs to be cleaned more often. Dried food on windowsill needs cleaning to get dead flies and dust. Food and drink - the manage has solved the food problems for us. Not told what he was eating, not given a choice, pureed food given when it should have been mashable. Never seen the menu. In m6 months only taken for activities once.

All staff acknowledge our presence and are able to answer any queries. Mum's general health and wellbeing improved following the move to this home. She is much more pleasant and calm.

Overall Experience
My wife is in the nursing unit of this home and I visit daily. I find that the standards overall are very good.

The staff are very attentive to the residents, who are mainly immobile and are bedridden or in special chairs. The majority of these residents, unfortunately, cannot comprehend or communicate and have to be assisted with eating and drinking. I find that the staff are most patient and understanding in what for them can be very demanding, difficult and frustrating at times. They are also very pleasant to visitors.
