My mom was in here for two weeks as we needed emergency care, the world was promised when I came to visit but none was given when we agreed to come and stay. We were told that a certain room was available and then when we turned up it was no longer which seems strange considering it was only couple of days before we turned up. The cost also changed when we got there and suddenly become more expensive. The care that we received in the first week was great but then one of the caring nurses Nancy went on holiday and it all changed. My mom was left unattended and sadly had a fall which resulted in a trip to hospital which for a dementia patient is confusing and extremely traumatic. I wish I could add the pictures of the mess that the fall had caused. We stipulated that my mom had to be on a low fat diet and the food that was given was far from low fat. Clothes went missing as well as her cushion from her wheelchair, this was eventually found a week after she had left. Run out of space!!

My dad was fast tracked from hospital, from the minute he arrived he has been treated with the upmost care and respect. I cannot thank all the staff for the kindness shown to him and also to me. Dad is poorly so will not see just how beautiful a place Barchester Marple Dale Care Home is. My brother was admitted to this care home 5 weeks ago. The home is beautiful, that's why we chose it. However, the care in this place is awful. Some careers were fine but there were a few that were incompetent. The food is absolutely horrendous. We talked to residents who order out 4 times a week because the food is so bad. My brother had a medical emergency and the nurses did nothing but stand at the bottom of his bed and watch. We had to ask them to do something to help him. The manager is absolutely appalling. We had a few issues and she refused to speak to us. My sister went down to speak to her and she hid in her office and sent her an email saying she was busy. I would not recommend this care home to anyone. They have no compassion for the vulnerable residents they are supposed to be looking after. They have been reported to CQC and the Council by my brother's social worker.

Our home team are always available to support and well share your feedback with them about meals, however, the feedback we usually receive about food at Marple Dale is positive. We do have some younger residents who enjoy eating fast food takeaway as their preference and were very happy to support them. We understand that your brothers needs are very complex and assisted to ensure he has the care needed including in an emergency. Sadly, due to the complexity of the care required, the decision was made they were no longer able to sustain the placement. I visited my friend with many doubts, having visited many care homes but my goodness, what a wonderful experience! My friend was settled and happy after only a couple of weeks. The environment was exceptional - clean, bright, fresh and well cared for. All the staff I met were true carers - wanting the best for the residents. They were professional, friendly but most of all, caring. Nothing was too much trouble. All the questions of a new resident were answered and dealt with immediately. From my very first days as a Health Care Assistant to a senior carer, I began learning that caring for someone is about so much more than completing a task. It is about seeing the person behind the care plan. It is about listening, noticing the small changes, understanding a person's history, respecting their wishes and beliefs, and recognising what matters most to them. I learned how important communication, compassion, observation, teamwork and dignity are in providing truly person-centred care. I learned how to recognise when something was not quite right, when to seek help, and when speaking up could make a difference. These were not simply skills I was learning for a job. They were skills that were shaping the nurse I wanted to become.
One of the things that meant the most to me at Marple Dale was seeing that every resident mattered, regardless of how unwell they were or what stage of life they were in. That approach resonated deeply with me. It reminded me why I had chosen a career in caring in the first place. It also gave me the opportunity to experience something that would have a lasting impact on my nursing journey.
My Home Senior General Manager, Michelle Timperley, believed in my dream from the beginning. I remember sharing my aspirations with her, and rather than making me feel that they were too big or too far away, she encouraged me to believe that they were possible. She supported me, motivated me and gave me opportunities to grow. The team around me did the same. Their encouragement helped build my confidence and reminded me that I did not have to make this journey alone.
