In general, my husband finds the staff helpful and is treated kindly by all day staff but does not always feel the same about night staff as more agency staff are used and they are not as good as the carers actually employed by Marple Dale.
Our family feel that my father wouldn't be here now if he hadn't had such good care.
The staff are very friendly with both my sister and me. My sister is very happy at Marple Dale and she is treated with kindness and respect.
After looking at a number of homes in the area for my wife we selected Marple Dale and have been very happy with all aspects of the care and environment at the home.
The levels of nursing and care staff are excellent and when a request is made it is normally met within a very short period.
The environment surrounding the home is very peaceful and pleasant.
My mum moved in around October 2016, she had been self-sufficient up until June. Mum's room is what impressed us at first, unlike all the other places we had seen, it was not just a 'box', looks like a mini apartment which is lovely and very homely. The building is set in its own grounds, really lovely, so from a visitors point of view, it does not make you feel depressed in any way.
The staff are absolutely wonderful, they are always popping in to see how mum is, day and night, and have the time for a quick chat. It was very difficult for me to trust that anyone could do a better job of looking after mum than I have over the years but within a short length of time, they had all sussed mum out to a T and had gotten to know her just as well as I did. This is such a relief, so now when I visit mum I can sit, relax and chat and spent quality time with her rather than constantly worry about her. The family and I feel so lucky that we found and managed to get in here.
Since coming to live at Marple Dale Care Centre for the nursing care my sister has been very well looked after. The staff are all kind and cheerful and respond to her needs well. They do take time to chat when time allows and help her with her intake of food at mealtimes. Lovely home cooking and delicious cakes and pastries. Small appetites do need lots of nurturing and my sister requires and receives this. Laundry now on track- great!
My mother-in-law has been here for 7 years approximately and has always been well looked after. The care staff have always been caring, helpful and willing to help. However, I feel that the number of staff should be increased due to the number of residents who require total care. As it always appears that the carers are always stretched.
My wife suffered from 2 sever strokes and is peg fed- i.e unable to swallow or speak. She has been a resident at the care home since August 2014 and during this period she has been treated in an extremely caring manner- which is my main overall concern for her well being. I visit twice a day- every day and accordingly I see how the management team, ward manager and nursing staff work and I feel quite happy with the organisation in this respect. I am especially pleased how the carers treat my wife, with dignity primarily but also with kindness. My overall marking is of caring management team which reflects in the loving care she receives. I am genuinely pleased with the choice I made.
Patient wise nursing treatment satisfactory - here I have to say nurses, carers work under much stress i.e. short staffed, equipment, i.e. hoist/batteries sometimes not available when need, reason: needs outweigh supply. Kitchen area requires an overlook with regards to hygiene i.e. bar surface needs renewing, dirty crockery should be removed more quickly. At all times kitchen area should be kept clean and tidy. Very important: all nurses and carers are wonderful. They need more help/manager wise.
