Mum's room is what impressed us at first, unlike all the other places we had seen, it was not just a 'box', looks like a mini apartment which is lovely and very homely. The building is set in its own grounds, really lovely, so from a visitors point of view, it does not make you feel depressed in any way.
The staff are absolutely wonderful, they are always popping in to see how mum is, day and night, and have the time for a quick chat. It was very difficult for me to trust that anyone could do a better job of looking after mum than I have over the years but within a short length of time, they had all sussed mum out to a T and had gotten to know her just as well as I did.This is such a relief, so now when I visit mum I can sit, relax and chat and spent quality time with her rather than constantly worry about her. The family and I feel so lucky that we found and managed to get in here.

My wife suffered from 2 sever strokes and is peg fed- i.e unable to swallow or speak. She has been a resident at the care home since August 2014 and during this period she has been treated in an extremely caring manner- which is my main overall concern for her well being. I visit twice a day- every day and accordingly I see how the management team, ward manager and nursing staff work and I feel quite happy with the organisation in this respect. I am especially pleased how the carers treat my wife, with dignity primarily but also with kindness. My overall marking is of caring management team which reflects in the loving care she receives. I am genuinely pleased with the choice I made.

From my very first days as a Health Care Assistant to a senior carer, I began learning that caring for someone is about so much more than completing a task. It is about seeing the person behind the care plan. It is about listening, noticing the small changes, understanding a person's history, respecting their wishes and beliefs, and recognising what matters most to them. I learned how important communication, compassion, observation, teamwork and dignity are in providing truly person-centred care. I learned how to recognise when something was not quite right, when to seek help, and when speaking up could make a difference. These were not simply skills I was learning for a job. They were skills that were shaping the nurse I wanted to become.
One of the things that meant the most to me at Marple Dale was seeing that every resident mattered, regardless of how unwell they were or what stage of life they were in. That approach resonated deeply with me. It reminded me why I had chosen a career in caring in the first place. It also gave me the opportunity to experience something that would have a lasting impact on my nursing journey.
My Home Senior General Manager, Michelle Timperley, believed in my dream from the beginning. I remember sharing my aspirations with her, and rather than making me feel that they were too big or too far away, she encouraged me to believe that they were possible. She supported me, motivated me and gave me opportunities to grow. The team around me did the same.
