Since arriving at Hilltop Court 12 months ago, my mother has been treated with great dignity and respect by the kind and caring staff. The manager and her dedicated team provide the care package that my mother needs and that cannot be provided anywhere else, in such a friendly environment.

I visited my mother on the 15th October and found her quite content at Hilltop Court. The home was clean, tidy and well staffed. The staff were welcoming and pleasant and offered me a hot drink. The front door was answered promptly. The attitude of all staff to patients/residents was excellent and they
tended to their needs well. The managers made a point of speaking to me and had a chat about my mother. All good!

My mum has been a resident for 4-5 years and at 97 is doing very well except for dementia, which is a credit to the staff. It isn't always perfect but the staff work hard to provide a quality service.
Reply from Alison Foreman, Commercial Director at Hilltop Court Care HomeThank you very much for your 'realistic' review of Hilltop Court. You are right to say that things are not 'always perfect', however, not through lack of effort or planning but circumstance. The team work so hard to ensure that any challenges are minimal and that care and attention for residents remain at a high standard. It is a testament to them that they are able to keep the home happy, vibrant and the residents well cared for when the challenges of dementia creep up and confront the team, residents and families. No two days are the same, that's for sure! Kind regards

Everything about this care home is great. However, the interaction of staff with residents is outstanding.
Unfortunately, the laundry does not meet the same high standard. It lets down both the residents and the care staff.
Reply from Alison Foreman, Commercial Director at Hilltop Court Care HomeThank you for your honest review. We encourage feedback about both care and services. Firstly, the staff are wonderful with residents, thank you for recognising their hard work and commitment. Secondly, and very importantly, the laundry service at Hilltop has not been running as smoothly as it ought and we apologise for that. The laundry service, when it slows, impacts on residents' clothes, dining linen, bed linen but the supply of dirty laundry does not slow down at the same rate, in order to aid recovery! Please, when you next visit the home, be sure to go and see the Home Manager, or telephone and voice your concerns. If you are searching for a lost item please let her have a description so that everyone can help locate it or if you have any further comments, your feedback can be used to further improve the service. Thank you again for your review. Kind regards.

We are very pleased how Hilltop Court staff look after my mother with such care and compassion. She is very happy and contented within herself. As two of her siblings, including myself, live abroad, it is important to know that mum is cared for sympathetically and treated with dignity.

My mother has lived at Hilltop Court for nearly six months, initially, she found it difficult to settle due to her lack of liberty. The staff were very patient with her despite her aggressive nature at times. Fortunately, she has now settled as well as she is likely to and her level of care has been
excellent. The manageresses, administrator, nurse and all the carers have been excellent with the family.
Reply from Alison Foreman, Commercial Director at Hilltop Court Care HomeSettling in to a new home is so difficult for all of us and the care team understand and support those who need that little bit of extra help in the early days or months living in a new home environment. Thank goodness all appears to be well now. Also, many thanks for recognising the whole team with your kind comments. Kind regards.

When we visit her she always appears happy. Normally, in a world of her own - after she is very talkative and singing. Her room is clean and well fitted out. She too is always clean and well fitted out. A little more varied diet would be nice eg some pasta dishes, but she generally eats well. The staff
are kind and spend time trying to stimulate her.

I visited my step sister in the home for the first time this month as she was not able to visit me any more. I found the staff to be friendly and smiling to both residents and visitors. There were 5 of us visiting to celebrate her birthday, and I was pleasantly surprised when we were given a private
space for lunch, with a table of food laid out for us. We had a most enjoyable visit, and I feel happier knowing that she is in such a happy caring and pleasant environment. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
Reply from Alison Foreman, Commercial Director at Hilltop Court Care HomeThank you very much for your review. I'm so glad that you had a great visit to the Court, birthdays are very important celebrations and the team always go 'above and beyond' to ensure that these days are marked in the way that our residents and families wish. The team at the home work so hard to ensure that their residents are happy and content and feedback such as yours does much to give them a well earned 'pat on the back'. Kind regards

I was a bit dubious before my husband took up residence but we had waited 4 months for a place.
However, he settled in very quickly and has been expertly looked after.
The staff are very considerate and treat their charges with dignity.
I would recommend this care home to all in need of one.
Reply from Alison Foreman, Commercial Director at Hilltop Court Care HomeThank you for writing a review. I am so pleased that the care and kindness of the care team has dispersed your understandable trepidation around the decision to move your husband to care, the Home Manager and her team try so hard to settle new residents quickly and with complete understanding. Current Review Score: 9.0 (8.959)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (8.959) out of 10 for Hilltop Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.359 for Hilltop Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (77 Excellents x 5) + (29 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 128 Ratings = 4.359
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hilltop Court Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 10 = 0.9
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
