From the first day that my mother entered the home we were all greeted by friendly, caring staff. My mother settled in quickly and is happy as we are, as a family, with the overall care that she receives.

When I thought about the important things that matter to my mum and our family, we need her to be in a care home with staff who have compassion, that are trained and have knowledge with an understanding of an older person's needs and difficulties. Guide Lane Care Home is well led with staff who not only tick all those boxes but take the time for a happy chat with my mum and put a smile on her face. Mum has just spent some time in hospital and needs time to recover from an operation and I know that if anywhere can help her to recover, then this is the place!

Mum has been here just over a year.

She was weak, frail and unhappy on admittance but due to the amazing care, empathy and dedication of all the staff she now looks better than ever. The chefs spent endless hours adapting a menu for her to improve her appetite which made her stronger and healthier. It has been an extremely difficult and trying year due to Covid but Guide Lane has dealt with the situation amazingly, keeping the residents safe.

The manager and all her staff are devoted to the residents and running of the home. I would go so far as to say that this home is one of the best in the area if not the best. My mum and dad came here over a year ago. My sister chose the home because it had nursing facilities and residential as my dad needed palliative care. My sister also liked the manager straight away. Dad sadly passed away, he was treated with respect and dignity. A year later and mum now resides here and calls it her home. Thank you all so much for making this happen. Especially during this dreadful time of Covid.

All the staff have been consistently attentive, kind and thoughtful. Communication has been excellent, which has been much appreciated whilst Mum settles in and has allayed her confusion in a new environment. Liaison with her new GP practice has been invaluable. Meals are well presented, and a choice is offered.

The team have been very responsive to changing needs, and it doesn't matter when we visit, Mum is up and enjoying the company, in the spacious lounge or dining area.
