My husband was resident in Guide Lane Care Home for seven months until he died 4th January 2017. He was very ill and most of the time unable to leave his bed. Our family were devastated and we had no option but to agree to his admission. However, it was our best decision as he was treated with dignity
and kindness and the best care possible, the nurses and carers could not have done a better job and have our utmost admiration and thanks.

My mother-in-law spent the last nine months of her life in this care home. She received the best care that anyone could wish for. Due to her dementia, she could be difficult at times but staff always treated her with respect and dignity. The home is clean, modern and the atmosphere is always welcoming
when visiting. The staff are so caring, friendly and always willing to help. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this care home.

My dad was resident here from June 2016 until he sadly passed away. The care he received in the nursing home was exceptional. The nurses and the carers treated him as we, his family, would. He was quite difficult at first and it took a while for him to accept that he couldn't go home but the carers
were marvellous and gradually he came to accept it with their help. All the carers were just that - caring people- and made my dad's last few months as pain free and stress free as they could.

Staff are always on the go doing something, washing residents, hoisting/moving residents, answering doors, helping with food etc. etc.
The home is always clean and smells fresh. The staff always have time to answer the residents and visitors alike. They share a laugh with each other and visitors. They
seem content.
The manager runs a tight but relaxed ship!
Myself and my partner visit separately, but think the same.

I can't recommend this place enough, the staff are very hard working, even under stress they are always polite and welcoming. I've been sat with my friend and all residents are all well looked after, even when some may not have a visitor, the staff go out of their way to have a chat with them. My friend
is extremely well looked after and very happy here. The staff pop in to see if we're ok and need anything and they keep us informed if my friend needs anything. Also, all the food looks really nice. (Well done everyone)

We are extremely pleased with the level of care provided. All staff are more than happy to help the residents to make their home as special as possible. We came to visit for my relatives birthday and there was a special singer with songs from the 1940's which filled use with precious memories. Thank
you so much

I have been so impressed by all the staff involved in mum's care. The manager has facilitated the transition so well and been really involved in the process. She is a real presence in the home, not just an administrator. Her team of staff are excellent. The level of dignity maintained is beyond comparison,
cleanliness is clearly a priority. There is a great range of activities. A home from home.

My grandma came into the home following a traumatic event. She has dementia. All the staff have been fantastic and she now enjoys her time here. When she was at her own house she was alone a lot and quite sad. She is now transformed, happy and very well looked after.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.661)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.661) out of 10 for Guide Lane Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.886 for Guide Lane Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (117 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 132 Ratings = 4.886
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Guide Lane Care Home is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
