Our Wyncourt journey and experience commenced in hospital when our sister and sister in law with Parkinson's was diagnosed with additional complex needs. We received an arranged visit from Wyncourt who immediately made us feel we had made the right choice as she spoke to our relative and referred to
Wyncourt as going (home)- her words :-
Because that is what we are and what residents should feel to those who do not have the choice of independent living.
Our experience since that day 8 years ago has more than met our expectation from personal care attendance to medical needs and hospital visits plus lots of activities within the home environment.
Family visits are always a pleasure from young to old plus family pets made to feel very welcome always offered refreshments and it is so reassuring that our loved one is comfortable safe and has found her "happy place"
Reply from Ben Mattinson, Manager at Wyncourt Nursing HomeThank you so much for sharing this. Reading about your family's journey over the past eight years really means a great deal to us.

It's wonderful to hear that Wyncourt has continued to feel like "home" for your sister. That is exactly what we hope for every resident who comes to live with us. We're so pleased that you always feel welcome when visiting and that your whole family, including the pets, can be part of life here.

Thank you again for your trust over so many years. It's a privilege to care for her and to have your family as part of the Wyncourt Family

I have always looked after my husband all my married life but it came to a stage where his illness was progressing so I had no choice but to hand my dear husband over to a recommended care home.
It took me a while to adjust not having him at home but I knew he was being looked after well.
The nurses
and carers are exceptional in the care they give and interact with patients which is beautiful to see.
Reply from Ben Mattinson, Manager at Wyncourt Nursing HomeThank you so much for sharing this. We can only imagine how difficult that decision must have been after caring for your husband for so many years.

It is a privilege to care for your husband, and we are grateful for the trust you have placed in us.

My wife's mother has been a resident at Wyncourt for nearly three years, and living fairly close by we are frequent visitors to her there. For much of the first year, my father-in-law was also resident, and they shared a room.

In all this time our appreciation for the place has only grown - and

it was massive at the start. The ethos statement on the stairs which faces you as you walk in is so true - Wyncourt really is home, it is a place of family and for family. We are always made welcome, and through the ups and downs of illness and frailty my mother in law has received only excellent care. The place has a dynamic which I've rarely felt in care homes - and I've visited many one way or another. It is a place of life, a place for living - from the barbecues to the Christmas celebrations, the singing, the daft dancing, the lovely choices of spaces for sitting, the excellent food. All this really matters - Wyncourt is what a care home should be - a place of caring, and a real home.
Reply from Ben Mattinson, Manager at Wyncourt Nursing HomeThank you for such a thoughtful and generous review. It genuinely means a great deal to all of us.

Your mother-in-law is a valued part of Wyncourt life, and it's been a privilege to support you all through the years, both the joyful moments and the more challenging ones. Thank you for your continued trust and kindness

My dad is a current resident at Wyncourt Nursing Home and has been for almost two years. As a regular visitor at Wyncourt, I am well placed to write a review that accurately reflects our experience of the nursing home.
My dad is very well cared for, his medical condition well managed and he is kept
safe at Wyncourt. His symptoms are complex but staff members have got to know him so well that they anticipate his needs. The staff work exceptionally hard, nothing is ever too much trouble and they're very friendly. They all have wonderful relationships with dad and my dad is very settled at Wyncourt.
In terms of activities, Wyncourt regularly host singers and events. They always make an effort to decorate the nursing home seasonally and for particular events.
The food at Wyncourt is excellent and all freshly made. My dad has always enjoyed meals at Wyncourt.
In terms of housekeeping, my dad's room is always clean and tidy. All communal areas are very welcoming and clean.
Reply from Ben Mattinson, Manager at Wyncourt Nursing HomeThank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed and thoughtful review. It really does mean a great deal to us.

We're very lucky to have such amazing and supportive families like yours it genuinely makes our jobs easier and Wyncourt a better place to be. Thank you again for your continued trust and kindness

My mother was admitted to Wyncourt 24th December 2024 the staff have continuously been very caring thoughtful kind and professional. I noted there is a great retention of staff so the continuity of care and familiarity is excellent. It truly is the best place that my mum with advanced care needs could
be.

I am so pleased that my sister is at Wyncourt. She is treated with respect, friendliness, she is well cared for always clean, tidy and presentable. Everyone is so kind and when passing my sisters room always they put their heads around the door to see how she is. Her medication is always on time and
is given with patience and care. There is activities and outings if she wants to participate. The food is outstanding and I know my sister enjoys her food. All the staff are so caring and friendly and as a family we are so pleased that my sister has a place at Wyncourt.

Your sister certainly keeps me and the team on our toes, and we wouldn't have it any other way. She's completely her own person, which is exactly why we're so fond of her. I'm still trying to win over Billie the budgie though. I suspect I'm not quite top of Billie's favourites list just yet!

On a more serious note, it really is a privilege to care for her. Thank you again for the trust you place in us. It's something we value enormously and never take for granted.

Dad is being beautifully cared for at Wyncourt. His care has been tailored to his needs. Any of our concerns/observations as family have been listened to and understood and valued. Although his day to day care is delivered by the Wyncourt team we still feel part of his care. My mum who visits daily
is also 'cared for' always a friendly chat and a cup of tea! Small things but hugely important. My dad has been at Wyncourt over a year now , there is very low turnover of staff so all staff know Dad and dad knows all the staff . This stability really helps. If I had to use three words to describe Wyncourt I would say caring, homely and responsive . A really great team to whom our family are truly grateful .
Reply from Ben Mattinson, Manager at Wyncourt Nursing HomeThank you for such generous feedback - it truly means a lot to everyone here.

Your dad is a great character and a real part of daily life at Wyncourt. Families like yours are a big part of what makes this such a warm, supportive and genuinely homely place to be. We're so pleased that you feel involved in his care and that your mum always feels welcome - the kettle is always on.

Thank you again for your trust and kind words.

My mother moved into Wyncourt in October of last year and my father brother and I have been so impressed with the overall level of care that has been provided by the the team. Mum had been bed bound whilst at the family home and stuck in one room with carers attending four times a day and my father
attempting to cope through the rest of the day and night. That was not sustainable so we looked for homes. Wyncourt was head and shoulders above the others we visited. We were particularly impressed with the family ownership and the friendliness of the staff. Everyone paid particular attention to Mum when she moved in as they knew it was a massive change for her. She has settled in wonderfully well and is up in a chair almost every day goes out on trips / for coffees and is very happy. She loves the home cooked food. We couldn't have asked for more and have no hesitation in recommending Wyncourt. Thank you to all the team for all they do
Reply from Ben Mattinson, Manager at Wyncourt Nursing HomeThank you so much for this wonderful feedback. It truly means a great deal to the whole team. It's a privilege to care for her, and we're very grateful for your trust and recommendation.

Our Mum has attended Wyncourt Nursing Home under a day service package of care 3 times a week for over 4 months. The package of care has been tailored to meet her holistic needs. I cannot speak highly enough of the excellent care that Mum has received. The frontline care staff, housekeeping staff,
catering team, managers, medical team and activity staff are ALL just wonderful.

In Mums words "they are all friendly, look after me and make me feel welcome, I enjoy the activities, home from home environment and food."

My Mum is happy, settled and feels safe and secure. All the staff know her and genuinely care about her and by extension me and the family. The quality of care Mum receives gives us as a family reassurances. I am deeply grateful to everyone at Wyncourt for giving Mum such a happy and fulfilling experience. I would wholeheartedly recommend Wyncourt to anyone.

As a response I am daughter of the review on another platform where a safeguarding was against Wyncourt nursing home the safeguarding has not been completed yet against your home my mum lost any little dignity she had left by your staff and manager.
Safeguarding against the family this is again untrue
as we are a close family who love our mum you deprived mum of basic needs and failed her.
Asked for certain care things to be implemented and was never done, asked to see care plan still didn't happen after 3 weeks
Safeguarding is still ongoing don't be fooled we are family we love mum / nanna so jog on Mr Corporation
Management are not there all the time they haven't a clue what happens
Reply from Ben Mattinson, Deputy Manager at Wyncourt Nursing HomeYour family has now posted this review across multiple platforms. While we usually avoid public responses, we feel it's important to address some of the comments. We hold documented evidence, supported by safeguarding professionals, the local authority, and medical teams, that contradicts the claims made.Wyncourt is a family-run home, not a corporate provider, and we've operated for 28 years without a single negative review or the need to refuse a family-until now.We have management on site seven days a week and have never refused to share a care plan.We remain focused on providing high-quality care to those who place their trust in us. After multiple placement moves elsewhere, we genuinely hope your mum is able to settle in a setting that meets her needs.

I feel privileged that my stepdad was a patient at Wyncourt Nursing Home for 15 months until he died recently. As a doctor, I regularly get to see and experience the care provided at nursing homes. I have never experienced a higher standard of care. From the welcome and getting to understand who he
was and what was important to him, the staff embraced my mum and family as well. The carers were exceptional. Patient, kind, cheerful and always professional. They provided person-centred care (a wine spritzer at 10 am!), they listened to my mum and supported her. Attending a St Patrick's Day celebration, I was overwhelmed and humbled at seeing carers from all ages and backgrounds singing and dancing with their patients, providing joy. The management and nursing leadership were excellent. The very few issues that were raised were addressed immediately. His last days and hours were beautifully managed and they gave him the peaceful death that we had all hoped for with Mum by his side.
Reply from Ben Mattinson, Junior Manager at Wyncourt Nursing HomeThank you so much for your review. We are truly humbled and honoured to have cared for your stepdad during his time at Wyncourt, he was a true character and is deeply missed. It's especially meaningful coming from a medical professional who understands the importance of quality care. We're so glad to hear that our team was able to provide such a positive experience for your stepdad and your family, ensuring his comfort and dignity. What a truly amazing place this is! When Mum was diagnosed with a terminal condition last year we knew she would need full nursing care in her final few months and as a family we chose here. Wyncourt provided this so professionally that we never worried for her welfare in there. They made time to interact,
do activities, maintain dignity but provide humour and love too and its true, everyone does become part of the Wyncourt family! She had a very nice room overlooking the lovely garden but also her own comfortable chair in the pretty garden room too and was made very welcome from day one as were we and any family and friends who popped in. Thank you so much to everyone there and anyone considering here- please go and visit and see for yourselves how wonderful it is!

We became part of The Wyncourt family in April this year. My mother-in-law was admitted from hospital following a diagnosis of terminal cancer.
The care and compassion given by everyone in the home from management, carers, nurses, the chef and cleaners was amazing.
We were also well cared for, always
offered drinks and reassurance.
Her end-of-life care was well-planned and carried out with the utmost respect and dignity. The staff are so caring and compassionate, it gave the family great comfort at a very sad time.
Thank you to all at Wyncourt.

At 95 Mum found it difficult to leave her home after nearly 70 years. She arrived at Wyncourt scared of the future. However, the staff soon put her at ease and she became part of 'the family'. The home's open house policy combined with the staff's excellent communication meant that both she and her
family and also visitors felt at home. She gained a new lease on life being encouraged to and entering into the spirit of various entertainments and interacting with the staff. The attention to her care and needs was excellent. The home was kept spotless and her clothing was regularly laundered. The quality and choice of food was of a high standard, and well presented. We knew that Mum was in a place where she was respected, cared for and loved; she was at home in every sense of the word. The ethos continued to the difficult days at the end of life. We cannot thank everyone enough for making her and us belong.

Wyncourt is always a pleasure to visit, the staff are what sets this place apart. Everyone goes out of their way to meet the needs of each resident and to make them feel loved. They also show the same level of care and support to family members, which is something to be cherished. My 96-year-old dad
was very happy here and loved being out in the beautiful garden, the staff fixed bird feeders outside his bedroom window so he could still take an interest in the things he loved. One day there would be ducklings running around and photos of Dad holding them, another day he was out on the road cheering on the Marathon runners. These are all very treasured memories and I feel so privileged that Dad spent his last few months in such an empowering, positive and happy place.

Moving my father to Wyncourt was one of the most heartbreaking decisions of my life but it turned out to be one of the best. Wyncourt excelled at meeting dad's multiple care needs promptly and with tenderness. It was a relief to see him having 24-hour care that he needed with staff that listened and
cared. It was very difficult to 'hand over' dad's care after caring for him at home for so long, but the staff showed patience and understanding that I needed to know what was happening,
The environment is welcoming, uplifting and 'open'. Dad was given so much choice, delicious food, clothes beautifully laundered, everything spotlessly clean. Dad was treated with respect and as an individual and all staff made an effort to understand him particularly as he had communication difficulties. Wyncourt is well-staffed and the team are professional and well-trained. Dad was kept very comfortable and we believe in the best place he could be. We can't thank everyone enough.

All of the staff from cleaners to carers and nurses work hard to create this happy
place where dignity is preserved and spirits are supported. The chef delivers lovely home-cooked foods and actually comes to speak to the residents about what they like, nothing is too much trouble and there is a regular programme of events that entertain and include. Since entering in December, my husband has had a couple of health incidents and nursing staff have been quick to respond, so I have confidence he is in good hands. Leaving a loved one in a care home is extremely difficult but I know he is being well looked after and this is so very important.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.832 for Wyncourt Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (178 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (4 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 191 Ratings = 4.832
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wyncourt Nursing Home is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
