When you enter Wyncourt the first thing you see is a statement on the wall that says “Welcome to the Wyncourt Family”. This is no empty promise but is an indication of the overriding philosophy of the nursing home.
What makes Wyncourt special are all the staff, whether nurses, carers, catering, or
domestic, all of whom are truly dedicated to looking after the residents and their relatives as if part of a family. I witnessed many instances of unexpected kindness, such as staff coming in on their days off to bring something in from the shops or to take a resident out.
Unfortunately, my wife’s stay in Wyncourt was too short – firstly because she had to wait for a place to become available and eventually because the development of her medical conditions meant she required specialist care. This, however, enabled me to assess Wyncourt against other nursing homes, and that comparison is extremely favourable towards Wyncourt.

Everyone at Wyncourt Nursing Home showed such professionalism, kindness, compassion, respect, dignity and patience to our dearest Mum. They became like a second family to us. All members of staff were so caring in understanding Mum’s needs. The medical team provided outstanding 24-hour care ensuring
Mum was kept very comfortable and pain-free. The chef prepares truly wonderful home-cooked food and caters for all specific dietary requirements, he would endeavour to cook some of Mum’s favourite meals. Every member of staff took such pride in their roles and nothing was too much trouble. We were very impressed that throughout the home there was a very high standard of cleanliness. We couldn’t have chosen a more caring and special home for our Mum to spend her final days, and as a family, we have taken great comfort from this and feel truly blessed. Wyncourt is a home filled with love, care and kindness that simply cannot be measured and a place where your family is treated as one of their own.

My dad spent the last 5 years of his life at Wyncourt, before passing away in June. Prior to that, he had spent about 18 months in a rather 'corporate' care home, in the south of England. When he arrived, the lively environment and attention to his needs had an immediate and very positive impact on
his quality of life - he no longer sat in his room most days (as was the case in the previous care home), but spent a lot of time in the resident's lounge, chatting, reading the paper. At the first Christmas party, the staff got him up and dancing with his zimmer frame!
The staff went through a really tough time during Covid, and we were very grateful for their commitment and perseverance in supporting Dad through those times.
My brother and I were fortunate to spend the last week or so with Dad at Wyncourt. Witnessing the kind and committed people who work at Wyncourt 'in action' was a true privilege - it restored my faith in humanity. Thank you.

Wyncourt Nursing Home is a unique and special nursing home. I have seen many care homes in my job, of varying quality, which made me nervous when trying to find a home for my parents. I looked at many homes but struggled to find somewhere I trusted with their care. Then I found Wyncourt. A family-run
home with a wonderful and very skilled team. We experienced a very high standard of care which was tailored and personal. They worked hard to accommodate both my parents who had very different needs and presented very different challenges. The team navigated through any issues with ease and professionalism, enabling my parents to share a very special last year together. The care and compassion were also extended to our family, making us very welcome and supporting us through the difficult end-of-life stage. The whole team went above and beyond. It has been a privilege to be part of the Wyncourt family. I can’t thank them enough for everything they did for us all. It truly is a care home like no other.

Mum moved to Wyncourt after an eight-week stay in the hospital, during covid, where she had been moved seven times to different wards. Before this, she had been living independently but starting to need extra help. The deterioration of her mental capacity and mobility during these eight weeks was profound,
so on local search and recommendation, she was transferred to Wyncourt. From the very start we were shown nothing but help and kindness and even though Christmas 2021 was fast approaching, they managed to squeeze her into a lovely downstairs room with garden views and an ensuite. Mum has been there a year now and has remained in the same room which has helped her familiarity. The owner, manager and the team have shown nothing but care, respect and kindness to both Mum, my brother and myself and this has continued without exception to the extent that they even rang me after a long drive home, to check I was ok after a particularly upsetting visit with my confused mother. I would recommend it to anyone.

We chose Wyncourt Nursing Home for both my father-in-law and my mother because a dear friend of mine highly recommended it.
We were not disappointed.
Both our parents received excellent care and attention and to quote them - if you can't be in your own home then Wyncourt Nursing Home was the best
place to be.
The staff are so kind and compassionate, understanding each of our parents' individual needs.
Both of our parents had a great sense of humour which was nurtured throughout their stay.
Towards the end of their life, the staff were attentive, going above and beyond to ensure their last moments were as peaceful and comfortable as possible.
Thank you so very much.

My mother was transferred to Wyncourt after spending 3 months in hospital following a terminal cancer diagnosis. The transfer from the hospital to Wyncourt was very smooth causing minimum distress to my mother and this was due to the excellent communications between the hospital discharge team and the
highly experienced and professional staff at Wyncourt. During her time at Wyncourt, I found that every single member of staff, irrespective of their role, demonstrated the utmost compassion, care and enthusiasm day in and day out. The care my mother received was excellent. The staff always treated my mother with respect, kindness and patience and it was clear they genuinely cared about all the residents. They took the time to do their best to get to know my mother's personal likes and dislikes and then accommodate them and during her final days, I found the staff to be a massive support to me in what was a very emotional and upsetting time. I cannot thank them enough.

My mum had been at Wyncourt Nursing Home for almost two years before she passed away in August. She had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease a few years ago and could sometimes be very aggressive when having personal care. During that 2 years, I have nothing but praise for the staff at Wyncourt.
I know that the staff really cared and thought a lot of Mum and did everything they could to make her comfortable and looked after at all times. I am so incredibly grateful to every single member of staff for all they did for her.
My dad had been a resident at Wyncourt, 10 years ago, and was remembered, as was my mum who visited him then, by some of the staff who worked there then and the owners. Mum at that time had said if I ever need to go in a home, put my name down here! What more can I say? I know she loved them and they loved her. The staff are wonderful.
Wyncourt is always immaculately clean and very well run. I have only good words to say.

My dad spent three months in Wyncourt Nursing Home with complex health needs including dementia, Parkinson's and significant mobility issues. Despite this, he was sociable, enjoyed people and company and so needed lots of social care and attention as well as medical and hygiene care. The Wyncourt team
nailed it on all fronts: he settled in, felt part of the Wyncourt family quickly, relating well to carers and nurses. His medical needs were well catered for and his end-of-life care could not have been better from our point of view: it was compassionate and caring and medically on point.
I can't recommend the home highly enough - we feel lucky we were able to get him in there.

Following a fall, a hospital stay and a period in intermediate care, my mum was unable to return home and I needed to find 24-hour care. After much searching, I heard about Wyncourt and thankfully they were able to offer Mum a room. Sadly Mum passed away after only a few weeks but I cannot praise the
staff and management of Wyncourt enough for the care they gave Mum. I would not hesitate to recommend Wyncourt and I thank them for all they did for my mum.

My dad was a resident at Wyncourt for nearly 5 years and was always treated with the most exceptional kindness and care. I cannot praise the management team and all the staff highly enough, they made my dad and myself feel like we were part of the Wyncourt family and I loved the friendly fun atmosphere
that was always part of my visits.
I would recommend Wyncourt Nursing Home to anyone looking for a homely, while professional, care home as I am absolutely certain they would be more than satisfied with the level of care and would feel extremely happy that their relative was in such good hands.

Following a hospital admission, my Mum 94 years young, needed 24-hour nursing care. I had heard Wyncourt was the best nursing home in the area and when Mum moved there, I was not disappointed. Mum was welcomed into the Wyncourt family and her confidence grew from day one. Due to Mum's Alzheimer's, her
speech and communication skills were very limited, so Mum required all her needs anticipating. With skilled delivery of care (day and night), patience and understanding, Mum's confidence grew and within a short time Mum had started to smile again and Mum even started to communicate verbally. Wyncourt is exceptional and as an ex-nurse I am picky! Mum passed away very peacefully and I am forever grateful to the Wyncourt family for truly spoiling Mum (as she deserved), during her final months. Thank you.

I can recommend this nursing home. My mother received excellent nursing care from the staff. The food was excellent, in the difficult year the home tried to ensure as a family we could still feel connected to our mum. As soon as possible visits were facilitated via pods and outdoor screens or i Pads.

The staff from household to senior management have been fantastic to my wife and visitors alike; considerate, patient, friendly, caring, flexible and efficient. I am sure for every care home the most difficult problem has been dealing with Covid pandemic restrictions, testing and vaccine jabs and Wyncourt
have dealt with it admirably. We are a large close family with four adult siblings who have been unable to have meaningful contact with their mother for 14 months. Desperately sad for everyone, my wife suffered a significant stroke resulting in PEG tube feeding, long term catheter, LHS paralysis and stroke fatigue and very limited speech and understanding. She has relatively improved in peaking since visitors were permitted in mid-March. Visiting is absolutely critical.

My mum needed to move to a nursing home after the death of her husband of 63 years. I did a lot of research and Wyncourt came highly recommended from several sources including my own GP. From my very first visit, I was made extremely welcome as was Mum, when she went to see the room available which
was bright, homely and exceptionally clean, as are the whole premises. My mum lived happily at Wyncourt for 7 years until she passed away and there was no other place she wanted to be. She felt very safe and secure there, as part of the Wyncourt family and made some wonderful friends amongst the other residents and many staff. As the owner personally leads her team and expects them to provide exceptional care in all areas and we found this always to be the case, on the very rare occasion that I felt something might be improved upon the owners 'open door' policy meant things were responded to very quickly. Wyncourt is a very special place providing exceptional care but is also very homely.

We looked around several nursing homes for our mother and felt Wyncourt was welcoming, clean, had a nice atmosphere and it was our only choice. It did have a waiting list at the time but luckily, we managed to secure a place. Mum was in a beautiful room with french doors looking onto the charming garden.
We were always made welcome by the staff, when visiting and were always able to make ourselves a drink. On the whole, Mum's care was excellent, she loved the staff, and they loved her. I visited at all times of day and sometimes, Mum was having her tea in bed and was not properly positioned to reach it. This did seem to be down to one member of staff mainly. I felt too many of the staff had breaks together and were not always free to toilet Mum, as when she needed to go, it was very urgent. Activities for the residents on a day to day basis were not enough, they need much more during the day, however they had a lot of visiting entertainers in, who were always fabulous. Wine was always served at lunch.
Reply from Lesley, Deputy Manager at Wyncourt Nursing HomeThanks for your review. Your Mum really did have a special relationship with all the staff. On the other points raised, we pride ourselves on our staffing levels all staff breaks are paid for so that the residents' needs come first. We aim to respond to any residents' call bells within 3 minutes, which on the whole is achieved and audited. In terms of residents positioning, we have a full-time physiotherapist and now all staff, including the nutritionist, are trained in moving and handling. I will pass on your thoughts to Chris and her activities team. I know she will personally be very disappointed to hear your comments.

Wyncourt is a very special nursing home. Their compassionate care, under the most difficult circumstances, is a credit to every one of the wonderful staff and management. The skill and care of the trained nurses to manage a complex health condition with kindness, calmness and reassurance was so valued
by all the family. Maintaining family contact within the conditions of the Covid pandemic was outstanding, there was the provision of outdoor visits and iPad chats were made fully available. We know how fortunate we are to have our loved one in your care during that time. Thank you so much to everyone at Wyncourt Nursing Home.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.707) out of 10 for Wyncourt Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.832 for Wyncourt Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (178 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (4 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 191 Ratings = 4.832
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wyncourt Nursing Home is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months.
