We cannot thank the team at Lakeside Nursing and Residential Home enough for everything they have done for my dad.
My dad has complex needs and at 60 years old, is much younger than many of the other residents but the staff have been absolutely amazing. They have taken the time to get to know him as an individual and have done so much to support him and improve his quality of life.
We had arranged a family party for his 60th recently and the team went above and beyond to make sure he could be there. They brought him to the celebration nothing was too much trouble. So many people commented on how well he looked and how happy he seemed, which is a real testament to the care and dedication of everyone at Lakeside.

As a family, it gives us great comfort knowing he is safe, cared for and genuinely valued. We are so grateful to every member of staff for everything they do. Thank you for treating him with such kindness, dignity and respect.

Our mother-in-law has been chairbound for 10 years and never had a pressure sore. The diligence and care given to her social well being and family atmosphere is wonderful. The relaxed ambience in the home and the dedication to detail is phenomenal. All the activities are enjoyed as much by the staff so they put their all onto the event dressing up and engaging with the members.

A very warm inclusive atmosphere and because of it Gwen has thrived and still knows who we are.

I would like to thank you all. Staff at Lakeside for the care they provided for my grandma. After a fall they get her back on her feet and she was the most well we had seen her in years. Unfortunately after a short illness my grandma passed away. All the staff at Lakeside were incredible. The care, love and dignity they showed my grandma and family was unmatched. We felt like we were part of the Lakeside family, and during tough times they looked after us as a family. The staff don't work at Lakeside because its a job, they have a passion for caring. Before my grandma passed, she told us how well looked after she was. I hope the staff realise how special they are. I would highly recommend Lakeside, it is not just a care home, it's a family and home.

Care is very good. Always friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend the nursing home to anyone.

Financially expensive. But then all nursing homes are. Think this is more a government problem than millennium care. Those who obtain financial support get the most minimum of space, and the government should pay more

Overall Experience
Gail and the Lakeside staff were all fabulous in the care of my sister. My sister was in her early fifties so not typical for a care home setting I don't think, but she was embraced in to the Lakeside family.
My sister was always well taken care of at Lakeside, however prior to moving to Lakeside, she had not been out of bed for around 16 months. When she arrived, she was encouraged to be out of bed, washed, changed and join the other residents for meals and activities. She even went on a couple of trips outside of the home, given she had previously not been out of bed for such a long time, this was fantastic progress and a great experience for her.
My sister unfortunately passed away, but we know she was so well cared for and this made her last five months the best they could have been and that brings us a lot of comfort.

Nothing but good things to say about the Lakeside staff, other than we are grateful for the genuine love, care and support they provided..

Reply from The Lakeside Team, Staff at Lakeside Nursing & Residential Home

Thank you for these kind words. It was a privilege to welcome your sister into the Lakeside family and to see her thrive. We were heartbroken by her passing, but it means so much to know her last five months brought you comfort. With love, Gail and the Lakeside team.

Making the decision to place my mum into residential care has been the toughest decision of my life. Despite our best efforts as a family with the support of home carers, being in her own home was not an option for my Mum.
After previous bad experiences with respite and rehabilitation care, I was heartbroken when my Mum moved into Lakeside in June 2024.
Gail, Lisa and their amazing team were fantastic at helping my Mum settle and treated my endless questions, phone calls and enquiries as never too much trouble as I struggled with my Mum's illness and her decline.
What Lakeside gave to my Mum was dignity, love and first-class round the clock care. Everyone of the staff treated my Mum like one of their own family members.
But what they also did was treat me like one of their own too. Helping me, supporting me through making decisions to ensure my Mum got the care she rightly deserved.

I will be eternally grateful for the time we had with Mum at Lakeside.

I recently attended my elderly Aunt's special birthday. She had a wonderful day and I asked the Manager if the members of staff could help me organise a small party for her as I live a long distance away from her and I'm in my seventies . The Manager and staff Co-ordinated and organised everything food ( buffet) provided was wonderful and the cake was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble. On a daily basis my Aunt is well cared for and is kept busy with a variety of age appropriate activities which she thoroughly enjoys and keeps her occupied. She even has occasional visits to outside venues . I think the Manager and her team are very caring, and make all their residents feel welcome and well looked after. My Aunt seems very happy there and I would recommend the Care Home to anyone.

I literally cannot praise Lakeside enough. My dad has been a resident for 2.5 years and my mum was also there until December 2022 when she sadly died.
They helped my dad's transition as a widower and treated him with love, care and compassion. It was a difficult time and for myself, my brothers and the rest of our family, knowing my dad was so well cared for meant everything to us.
As a whole I cannot praise the management, nursing, catering, carers, office and laundry staff enough. Nothing is too much trouble. I would also like to recognise the efforts as Activities Coordinator, she works so hard to find ways to encourage my dad to join in activities and events.

Thank you Lakeside for looking after my dad like he's your dad.

From the very first point of contact with Lakeside care home I have been treated, by all, with kindness, humanity and understanding. I have been welcomed and valued as a person, whilst my physical needs have been taken care of in a professional, supportive and homely manner. Staff provide a friendly, family feeling of care - nothing is too much trouble, day or night. They are kindness itself. I want for nothing. I immediately felt safe. I am comfortable, content and confident. I feel in safe hands.

My mum was 90 today. She has only resided in Lakeside for a week but, in that short time, staff have ensured that they have got to know her. Today, myself and a few relatives came to celebrate her birthday. The staff had made a delicious birthday cake and provided a nice buffet, which was much appreciated. We never thought my mum would end up in a care home but I know she will be well cared for and looked after in a loving environment.

Almost 99, having lived independently, Mum decided she needed 24 hour care.
It was with some trepidation that I visited Lakeside, but I need not have been anxious as we were instantly welcomed into lovely surroundings and a vibrant atmosphere, by friendly, polite and happy staff.
We felt immediately at ease and reassured in such a pleasant, clean and family environment. One week later Mum took up residence and has never looked back. She is thriving in the care and love that she is receiving. She is treated with dignity, respect and professionalism at all times whilst enjoying the social conversations and friendships. The very genuine positive staff /resident and staff/staff relationships are clear for all to see.
Mum , and her family, have been welcomed and embraced into the family at Lakeside. All staff are approachable. Mum feels in safe hands , giving her the confidence to join in amazing outings, which we never expected.

Mum is happy. We have peace of mind. Priceless!

The carers in Lakeside were excellent and treated the residents with love and respect, understanding individual concerns and needs. They worked together as a team, ready to help each other when double help was needed with hoists, rearranging (patients) residents and keeping them comfortable and responsive to everyday activities.

Lakeside Nursing Home is a well run home. The team go above and beyond and show unwavering commitment to the residents and the genuine care they show in every interaction. The residents look really happy, they do some kind of activity throughout the week, also they take the residents out i.e.: meals, theatre etc.
I would like to give a big thank you for everything you do.

P.S.: spotless clean, food hygiene 5*, a very homely fell and always welcoming.

My mum has been in Lakeside for 6 months, as a family we never thought our Mum would end up in a care home. Lakeside is my 2nd home, I love spending time there with Mum and love going to see all the other lovely residents, Lakeside is 1 big happy family. All the Staff are lovely from the admin staff, manager who goes out of her way and all the carers who are all amazing and look after all the residents and show love to each and everyone of them, not to forget the handyman. Lakeside has literally picked up the pieces of a previous bad experience in another care setting. It is like she has come home and my faith in the care sector restored. This is how it should be from day 1! I feel as if I have been involved and listened to and the staff is eager to understand how my mum's needs are to be met. A beautiful setting, lovely room and bedding that is bright, ironed and changed regularly. Dietary requirements have been met and patient and understanding carers take the time to assist with feeding. For the first time in months, I can see my mother pain-free, comfortable, clean and content.

Following a fall and breaking her hip at her own home, my 91-year-old mum had an operation and, after three months of discharge, could no longer walk or stand.
She wasn’t eating and was very confused.
We needed a nursing home and viewed six before we found Lakeside.
Straight away, we felt happy, and our first impression was of a clean, welcoming and caring home for Mum.
Moved in November 2023. She was still refusing to eat, but the chef prepared special meals, the staff fed her, and I’m happy to say she is now eating.
She will not leave her bed, but we are so pleased with how well the staff care for her.
She is still a little confused but was able to tell us how kind the staff are, that they help her to eat, the food is good, and she seems happier and more content than she was at home.
The management (including Jimmy the dog) and admin staff are really helpful and friendly and care for both residents and family.
Looking forward to the opening of The Bistro in January 2024.

I would recommend this care home.

Like many families, searching for a care home for my mum was a daunting experience as, until a fall in early October, Mum was living in her own home supported by carers and family, and this was not a path that she would have chosen to take.
On discharge from the hospital, it was apparent that Mum required full-time care, and I looked at several homes in the local area.
Lakeside stood out as the care home of choice, and Mum moved in on the 11th of December.

All of the staff, without exception and regardless of role, show genuine care and compassion. My brothers and I are completely satisfied that Mum is being well looked after, as Lakeside has a homely feel, the food is excellent, and Mum’s nursing needs are fully met.

Excellent standard of care offered. Home is comfortable, and feels like Mum is part of a family there. All the staff are friendly and caring. Placing Mum in a care home was such a sad and difficult time, we visited lots of homes before Lakeside, but as soon as we set foot inside Lakeside we knew that we had found the one. The manager and assistant are so approachable and proactive. We are delighted with the activities and visits that the staff organise for the residents, which I doubt happens at all care homes. I would and have recommended Lakeside 100% if you are considering a care home for a family member.
